The Gyroscope

Rate this book
Orphaned at a very young age, Alexandra Wolfgang lived with her pompous and uncaring stepfamily. She decides one day to escape with her lone friend, Wings, only to find out that a griffin named Amadeus wanted to take her to Great Britain. There, she learns about the awesome power of the Gyroscope, which is the primary means of keeping the world in balance. On her journeys, Alexandra meets genteel hippogriffs, arrogant mermaids, and hospitable satyrs. Seamus and Marmalade, the keepers of the Gyroscope, nursed Alexandra back to health. Alexandra gets to live in a grand white castle on the English moor and has it relatively easy until she learns that the evil Dark Wizard's sole desire is to sabotage the Gyroscope to destabilize the world. It is then up to Alexandra and Amadeus the griffin to go to a ghastly island to retrieve an old spell book to stabilize the Gyroscope and the Amulet-the only thing that can trap the Dark Wizard.
