dew drops: poems

In the book Dew Drops book she uses the poem, “to Zoom or not to”, in memory of her friend, Lyn, “as the dew on the/folded flower is the/tears of growing old/in a peachy peak/behind a lime leaf/as summer fades” and hurricanes ravage the land as the fires burn. Her words swirl with the curls of change and the same for she is captive to the chaotic. In “barely before the sun” she laments, “for the sun could not/spit on me as i jog/sleep’s cobwebs/from my terror/of iron bars by the/stupid holding me/in with shackles”. In the poem, “the night rain tapped” pounding the roof “….rapping out the/hours of our sleep/as i awake to a/hint of light as the/dark holds us…” she faces what we all face in the darkness of these times. While in the poem, “the ebony sky” the bluesky comes in as she pushes a “….button in nails’/refrain going from/the same day to/the next the same/as the one before/all over again”. In the poem, “she said I would read” her, she was right, for I am looking for her everywhere, “…and wonder if Ophelia/is right under this cobalt/sky cleared of the wet?/as she claws back with/fingernails dug in/polished and unearthly”.
