Johnson was a committed supporter of women’s suffrage and several other issues of inequality throughout his life. He took part in many social and political activities. Alongside his wife, Lucy, he was especially committed to their work in connection with campaigning for the abolition of stage regulation of prostitution. He was closely involved with Josephine Butler, the Association for Moral and Social Hygiene and the International Abolitionist Federation. First printed for private circulation in 1927. This special edition is published by Lewisham Press, 2021. This book is particularly of interest to historians of prostitution and trafficking.
