Real love is sometimes stronger than the romance of fiction. Laura and Almanzo's love is such a story. From an unwanted beau to a beautiful romance; from heart wrenching tragedy to heart felt passion; from tumult and trial to a lifetime love - Laura's love story is the true account of two young people who lived through the most trying troubles to form the most lasting love. Their love story spans the time from the single shot musket to the atomic bomb, but that love story is timeless and forever inspiring. Better than fiction, truer than life, this is the love story that put the jollity in Laura's stories and is the final happy ending to her Little House® books. Laura's Love Story is a quick and easy read that is inspiring for both adults and young readers.
Dan is an upper-60s father of five grown children and grandfather to twelve grandchildren who has lived and worked with his wife, Margie, for over forty years. For the last almost thirty years, they have lived a quiet, laid-back lifestyle on their forty acre farm not far from where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote her famous Little House books. Dan has written a number of books about Laura Ingalls and on other subjects including marriage and homeschooling. In 2006, they began Homeschool Helpers to encourage Christian families to center their lives around Christ with the homeschooling lifestyle. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Homesc...
While the writing was not exceptional, the story of Laura and Almanzo's relationship after the events of "The First Four Years" more than makes up for it. A sweet story.
I enjoyed all the new information, the reason I only gave three stars is because once again this author, like so many others, felt the need to fill the pages of this book by quoting Mrs. Ingalls-Wilder's books and his own previous books a lot!. I just wish writers would write their own material, even if it means it's a short book. If a writer doesn't have enough of their own original material to fill a book, then they either need to do more research, or maybe not write the book at all.
Its a quick read and seemed to be written at an elementary level. It was a good love story of a beloved children’s book author. Did have too many quotes that I felt could have been left out as they are from other books about Laura or her own books to begin with. Did give a cute down to earth true love story of Laura and her “Manly”.
But not worth the money. No really new information in it ; if you wasn't to know mire about the Wild ers read her biography . Very little mentioned about Rose. Very much about them as a living couple enduring highs and lows and making a marriage work. Pleasent quick read but b!very overpriced for the information.
I love the Little House books and have read them over and over so any "new" writings about Laura Ingalls Wilder get me really excited. This wasn't really new, and kept repeating over and over how in love Laura and Almanzo were. Kind of disappointing, nice to visit with Laura again though.
This book is poorly researched. It treats the "Little House" books as fact rather than fiction. It is written for children at an age level younger than those who read the writings of Laura.
Felt a little wrong to be reading about the private life of a private woman, but her stories and her life gripped me and I couldn't help but be curious.
