Fleeing New York City after a divorce and the trauma of witnessing a fatal robbery, New Englander Jemma Abbott finds herself stranded in a North Dakota snowstorm with an enigmatic stranger. Lawman Wyatt Kelly doesn't believe Jemma's claim that she's in North Dakota to visit an old friend and her fiancé, who just happens to be Wyatt's cousin. Too much about her story doesn't make sense. Despite Wyatt's suspicions and Jemma's reluctance to get romantically involved again, the two are drawn together by an almost irresistible attraction. Their encounter is cut short when Wyatt's cousin is severely injured in a hit-and-run. When Wyatt realizes the hit-and-run was no accident, but rather the result of a murderous conspiracy that has Jemma in its crosshairs, he rushes to Boston to protect her and bring the perpetrators to justice. But neither friends nor foes are precisely what they seem...
I really actually enjoyed this story but I feel it should only get 3 stars because of the flow in writing. The story didn't flow as smooth as I felt it needed to. But I did enjoy the plot and though the characters could have been developed a little more, I don't have any major complaints there.
2 ½ stars. Neat plot, but too many holes, not enough development, too many unanswered questions. Characters were pretty good.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: I really liked the plot. It had a lot of potential, but too many parts were glossed over and not fleshed out. Examples follow.
I wanted to see who planted the tracking device, when, and how. I wanted to see the subsequent actions watching and following that device.
A private investigator found the couple in Tennessee. I wanted to know how he followed them and saw them. I believe the tracking device was not his.
At one point Wyatt is undercover as a gay man. I wanted to see his gay friends dress him and advise him how to pull it off, since he was so naturally macho.
Roger was a complete mystery - even at the end. I wanted to know how he truly felt about Jemma, why did he help her, who did he work for? He was connected with three different opposing groups. It needed more explanation.
I wanted to hear conversations with Brian. I wanted to know what he was doing and what he learned.
I wanted a lot more details about how Leslie met David and what happened between them in N. Dakota.
The mother told someone about the trust. That did not make sense at all. I think the author should have come up with something better like overhearing a conversation, or sleeping with the attorney, or seeing a drawer open that should have been locked.
A major plot hole was why Jemma didn’t do a quick will to cut out her ex-husband Stephen? They were divorced but she didn’t change her will, so he was the beneficiary of anything she had. And she knew he was trying to kill her. Also, why didn’t Stephen try to kill her before the divorce? Why do it now?
There’s an implication that some mafia thugs are involved. A couple of them are killed when trying to kill Jemma. I wanted to know what their connection was and what their bosses were going to do next. It’s not like the mafia stops something just because two of their thugs are killed. Or if so, what was the explanation?
I liked two odd characters, but they were bit parts. Jemma has a conversation with a stranger on the subway platform. I enjoyed her guesses as to what kind of man he was and where he was from. I was also intrigued by an eccentric elderly lady on the bus who gives Jemma psychic-type advice. I would have liked more on those characters. All the other characters were typical, normal, predictable, good guys and bad guys.
The first sex scene was passionate and pretty good. The rest were ok/fine.
STORY BRIEF: Jemma left her husband a year ago. Her divorce was recently finalized. Someone pushes her toward the subway train tracks, but she luckily survives. A gunman comes into a coffee shop planning to shoot Jemma and again she luckily survives. Jemma’s friend Leslie is engaged to David and invites Jemma to visit them in N. Dakota. Jemma travels to N. Dakota but is stranded due to a snowstorm. Cell phone reception is bad, but she is able to reach David’s cousin Wyatt who is staying at David’s cabin. Jemma stays at the cabin with Wyatt for a couple of days until the storm is over. They start to like each other. Wyatt then learns that David almost died in a hit and run accident. He rushes off to see David in the hospital. Jemma can’t reach Leslie and returns to Boston.
Three months later, Wyatt visits Jemma in Boston. He has learned that someone tried to kill David who also is trying to kill Jemma. He stays with Jemma to keep her safe while they investigate who wants her dead and why.

Pamela wrote a book that is awesome. There is something in it for anyone who loves to read a variety of scenarios.
Jemma Abbott was a woman who learned that she couldn't trust anyone. She couldn't tell friend from foe in this story, all she knew was that bad things kept happening to her-first her father committed suicide, her mother was in indifferent to her, and then she married a man who wanted to control her-next came the miscarriage which led to a divorce. So no wonder was she gun shy when she met Wyatt Kelly, a man who seemed one thing and acted differently.
Wyatt couldn't figure out who this woman, that acted like he was jack the ripper, was. She was the one who contacted him, or rather was trying to contact his cousin. Jemma had secrets, secrets that could help get her killed. When his cousin ended up getting hurt by just being associated with Jemma, Wyatt put two and two together and came up with murder and betrayal.
Wyatt would do anything to keep Jemma safe, but with her trust issues, would she allow him to get close enough to do it? Jemma knew she was in trouble but she couldn't figure out why people, or better yet, her ex-husband and friend was trying to kill her. She knew she needed Wyatt's help, but with past betrayals could she trust her heart to know?
This book has everything: betrayal, danger, conspiracy, but it also has love, loyalty and a hero to come to your rescue.
Saving Jemma by Pamela Loewy snagged me from the get-go. The beginning exploded with fast paced action and kept me suspecting what would occur next. I felt for Jemma when she traveled so far and ended up in a less-than-desirous situation. Wyatt really scared me in his intro. I wasn’t sure what type of character he was.
Twists from there kept me on edge. I noticed the spark of attraction between Wyatt and Jemma and remained hopeful they’d combust. Their attraction didn’t deter from their surroundings or those responsible for multiple felony acts. I hoped they’d catch the villain and cohorts red handed. Wyatt was the perfect protector with his vast experience. I found his wary heart endearing and loved the byplay between him and Jemma. This book would be one I’d read again.
