Hunted in one of the most desolate regions of America, preyed upon by an evil that does not sleep, Rex Hauser is The Nail - and it's time he took a stand. A semi-pro wrestler, Hauser has been touring the country performing at small-time arenas until the fateful night he and his family run afoul of a bloodthirsty gang of Satanic bikers stalking the North Dakota Badlands. Now he's a lone man fighting for the survival of his loved ones in a no-holds-barred standoff against the forces of Hell itself!

Co-written by the newly formed CREEP International writing team of modern horror masters Rob Zombie and Steve Niles, The Nail is a relentless, unflinching portrait of the heart of darkness, and what one man will sacrifice to hold it at bay.

Every bit as grim, vulgar, and nasty as you'd expect from Rob Zombie. I enjoyed the basic premise (an aging wrestler takes on a satanic biker cult), but the last 1/3 was incredibly stupid, and not in a fun way.

This book is a quick read with not a lot of weight to it. That is not a negative statement. Sometimes a good bloody horror comic is just what I want. The story beats are really nothing new here: ancient evil, people stuck in the woods, and the central character fighting against impossible odds.
But the book has heart. Zombie and Niles have created a fascinating character in the Nail. Outwardly, he seems a simple country man, a small-time wrestler no less. As I got to know him, I saw a man with hidden depth, living by his own code, and pursuing a passion in a performance art too often dismissed.
This character should be further explored and put through more adventures.

It was a lot of fun, but it should have been released as one single graphic novella. Read in single issues it goes too quick. Read in its entirety in one dose, I think you can appreciate the story a little bit better. But it was a fun comic nontheless.

I didn't actually read this collected, but #2-4 are so thin and unremarkable that I really didn't feel like I could muster individual reviews. (I did review #1 individually and with more enthusiasm.)

There's just not enough to this. All of the depth (and almost all of the pro wrestling) is frontloaded, and the plot plays out like a videogame you wouldn't enjoy playing (much less watching someone else play).

A very short videogame.

And like with so much of what I've encountered from the 00s, the art is just too dark and looks terrible printed on a page if you have the audacity to... have a light on? It's just all glare and shadows. I normally read comics digitally, and a book like this is partly why.

It's...mehhh....but well I kinda enjoyed it, nevertheless the story is kinda stereotyped and predictable. But there is something about Rob Zombie that entertains me with his "freakshows and clowns" in MTG Rakdos Cult Style that he has.

A 70's style horror flick in graphic novel form. It's not ground-breaking by any stretch of the imagination but it sure is a lot of fun.

Y a disfrutar!

Miniserie que retoma los lugares comunes del terror ochentero, servida por un amante del género y respaldada por la pirotecnia gráfica.

The Nail is a book for horror fans by horror fans which means it you aren't a fan of violence and gore, you won't like this. The artwork here is well done and really compliments the story. Without great artwork, your book begins to suffer. Nat Jones has brought the violence and the artwork here is stunning. You want blood? Nails has it. Dark Horse has allowed these guys to create the book they wanted without holding back. As both a horror, and comic fan, Nails is a book worth checking out. The thing to remember before checking out Rob Zombie's work is that it's often violent so if you're easily offended, this is clearly not the book for you.

Nails is a tale of a wrestler thrown into a fight to save his family. That to me is really the heart of the story. There's a reason for the brutality, and two clear distinct goals. Reaching the ending is part of the fun of reading it, and it works well as a graphic novel because you don't have to wait for each issue to be released. As a fan of Zombie's films I can also add his comic books to the list. Nails is a great story that doesn't hold back in its quest to shock and offend you. It's not a story for kids, and I think comics for the most part have stopped being for kids a long time ago. This is one that fans of horror will drool over. Great artwork and a great story make a perfect comic. Holy hell this was awesome.
