Ladies, Watch Your Man!,

Just as with her previous titles, Brenda Hampton infuses her newest novel with a healthy dose of drama and sex. "Don't Even Go There" introduces readers to Chase Jenkins, a woman who knows what she wants and has no problem taking it, even from someone else. But her attitude and her actions quickly lead her to drama and possibly trouble.

Hampton offers an ambitious novel. Still, this reader was disappointed. Readers are made privy to some happenings in the main character's past as an explanation to her actions/attitude, but the surface is only scratched. Unfortunately, she was a character I couldn't fully embrace, either way. "Don't Even Go There" is a quick read as the pages are literally laced with drama. But it's that same drama that at time undermines the story.

Brenda Hampton is an extraordinary talent, and having read all her previous work, I found this one lacked a bit of luster in comparison. That said, I'm looking forward to her next novel.

What a godawful book. I don't remember the last time I read a book with such a shallow, unlikeable main character. The book starts off with this crazy chick lighting her boyfriend's house on fire because he's sleeping with someone else, so she decides she wants to sleep with her coworker's fiancé now that she's single (and just SO ATTRACTIVE, as she reminds you throughout the book.) This chick literally BURNS DOWN HER BOYFRIEND'S HOUSE because she's so mad, but then she freaks out when she thinks her new boytoy sent his own fiancée flowers at work. She spends the entire book in contradictions like this. She goes on and on in every chapter about how faithful guys don't exist, yet she wants every guy she meets to play her little games. She talks about how she can't juggle multiple guys at once, but she spends the entire book juggling like five different guys. And did I mention how FULL OF HERSELF she is? I'm all about self-confidence and self-love, but spreading your legs in front of every married man ever because they just CANNOT RESIST your nasty ho ass, it's a little much. And if I had to read about one more dress that looked FABULOUS on all of her curves, I was going to heave. The piece de resistance was when she showed up at her ex-coworker's house, letting herself in (which she does on multiple occasions throughout the book...), takes a gun out of her shirt, gets naked, and never has any consequences for any of this. What a skank ho.

Besides the completely nasty main character, the book is just not well-written. In the same paragraphs, characters will go from "he be trippin if he think he's my only man" to "I assure you, I'm done with him". It's not even close to realistic. Nothing about this book is, because there's no way all of these guys would ruin their lives over this gross, classless chick.

Ladies- Hide your man!
Chase Jenkins is an insecure, backstabbing, selfish and downright trifling female whose favorite type of man is UN-available. Chase will stop at nothing to get what she wants, whoever she wants, and boundaries mean nothing to her. If she wants your man she will go after him! Don't Even Go There is a very quick read because it has just enough drama to keep you intrigued, however, the book lacks real substance, thus I found it kind of disappointing. The author briefly touches on child abuse and domestic violence both of which are relevant to Chase's childhood, so at some point I kept expecting Chase to get some help because clearly those issues have had a big impact on her behavior as an adult. There were also a couple of characters that never fully evolve, so to speak, in this book. Perhaps Ms. Hampton will cover those issues in a sequel. I believe this was my first Brenda Hampton book and although I am not sure if I am interested in a sequel to this story, I was intrigued enough by the authors writing to want to read some of her other books. If you like (H-O-T) sex scenes and drama and want a quick read this is for you.

If you are looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and talking to the book, Don't Even Go There is the book for you!!!! Once again, Brenda Hampton is bringing the heat!

Chase Jenkins is the type of woman that every man would love to have by his side, she is drop dead beautiful, has a good job, her own place, is single and spontaneous and risque. Because of her haunting past, she will never trust a man and moves from one man to the next. When she comes home early from a business trip to find her boyfriend in the bed with another woman, all hell breaks loose and it will not stop until Chase is ready for it to stop!

Don't Even Go There is a book that is excellent for everyone especially bookclubs because there is so, so much to talk about! This book is not part of a series so run out and get it ASAP!!!!!

It Is What It Is

Chase Jenkins is as ruthless, conniving and sexy as she wants to be. A risk taker, she is willing to do whoever she pleases. Relationship wise, Chase is easy to deal with, as long as the men she is pursing are playing by her rules. When it becomes a little too hot, she simply changes to her Plan B. When the tables are turned, can Chase apply her own rules?

DON'T EVEN GO THERE by Brenda Hampton is just an okay read. While I found the story easy enough to read, it thoroughly lacks substance, is repetitive and contradicts its main character. Brenda Hampton fans are sure to enjoy the drama and steamy scenes, but by definition, this is definitely not a signature piece.

After reading the synopsis of this book, I was curious enough but reluctant to read it because a plot such as this could easily be categorized as "urban" fiction, which I tend to stay away from. I ended up reading this much more quickly than the other books I've read this summer. Brenda Hampton is a master at manipulating her writing in a way that draws you into the plot and the lives of the characters. She creates a scandalous, conniving character like Chase and puts her in situations where she is obviously brazen and daring, and not afraid to cross boundaries. The sex scenes were explicit, but I would describe them as "spicy" instead of "trashy." There were some unexpected twists and turns and the ending was nothing like I anticipated. Can't wait to read more from this author!

Chase is a woman who knows what she wants..and goes after it. Her deep-seated issues with men leave her with a bad taste in her mouth but a good feeling..down below. There are no limatations as nothing..and no one of the opposite sex are off limits. As the drama racks up in the work place and plan A fails..she finds herself in a heated mess.

I liked this storyline by Hampton. A little different from what I'm use to by her as the female character was the so called 'villian'. I tried to hate her but she made it hard. There was some drama along with humor as well. It ended kind of sudden as the story came to a head. I'm hoping for a part 2.

This was a different read for me. Interesting because I liked the suspense and various scenarios of these four women's lives, but whoa... Veronica was being mentally/physically abused by her boyfriend Tony, Claudette was happily engaged to marry Korbey...not. And their supervisor, Liz, was a smart businesswoman married to Steven, a sleazy yet successful financial planner.

The main character, Chase Jenkins, was molested by her dad. Fortunately, her Mom got out of that marriage. Unfortunately, Chase had many liaisons with married, engaged or otherwise taken men which left her with little self respect in her choices for a relationship. That's what a father's love should never do. Jeez!

Ms. Brenda, Ms. Brenda, ya sure know how to bring girl!!! You can't ever go wrong with Brenda Hampton! She is one of a very few authors that I can trust to purchase the her work without EVER reading a review. In my opinion it is not possible for her to write a book that doesn't grab you and pull you in deep. I REALLY enjoyed this book and you will as well! Gives you a lil sexy, a lil drama, a lot of deception, once again, GREAT WORK BRENDA!!!

This book was amazing and it had a very unexpected twist at the end...kinda like deju and it really suprise me at the end but I was kind of diappointed because I don't know if she wrote a part two because this must be finish...there was two many question that needs to be answer so I hope Ms.Hampton is working on part two...also this book was really good for those who want to know...I just couldn't stop reading it once I started reading it

Okay, so I wasn't expecting this to be quite so graphic/sexual. It was the first book I checked out from the library for my Nook color & I guess I should probably do more research before adding books to my queue! Not that it was bad, it wasn't, but just a bit surprising.

Don't Even Go There by Brenda Hampton is about Chase a woman on a mission to get what she wants when she wants it. Chase takes no prisoners and does not care who she hurts along her way. Karma always comes back and before you know Chase will learn just how much. I recommend this book to others.

The main character, Chase, is really a bad person. However, the things that she does are so bold, I decided to keep reading it just to see what was going to happen next. Not bad at all.
