He'd been given enough warnings...

Only a heart attack could make Peter Clancy leave his beloved London and the excitement of his work as an investigative journalist. He moves to a quiet coastal town in Australia, the perfect place to write a new book while avoiding all bad influences.

Serenity Bay turns out to be anything but quiet-the neighbours are noisy or nosy, getting under his skin or into his pants. Not even a surprise reunion with an old friend can turn this nightmare into the peaceful retreat Peter was seeking, intent as she is on reuniting him with at least one bad influence.

Of course, Peter doesn't need much persuasion to resume his vices-old habits die hard, and before long Peter is poking his nose into the affairs (in all senses) of not only his neighbours but the local council, property developers and even aged-care proprietors.

But with the authorities showing no interest in investigating reports by concerned citizens of illegal dumping, vandalism, break-ins and threats-not even after a number of sudden and unexplained deaths-who else can they turn to, but Peter the Perennially Energetic Journalist?

He was done reflecting on his life and all that bullshit. He was back on the hunt.

I think I found an Aussie Carl Hiaasen!! 🤩This is my first Peter Clancy series book, Beachdaze is #6 but reads well as a standalone novel. I enjoyed these colorful and LOL funny characters!

Peter Clancy is an investigative journalist from London but now has to take it slow, doctor's orders. The award-winning journalist moves to a "quiet" coastal town Serenity Bay.

Ready for a quiet life, Peter purchased a worn '70s beach house sight unseen only to find out he has one gaudy neighbor "Titty Man" and another kinky and lonely one! This was fun and on a crazy wild side! I knew I'm getting a kick out of this one when a character named Concheetah shows up. 🤣

Aggressive land developers, illegal waste dumping, corrupt authorities, and a few murders are making it impossible for Peter to look the other way!

I love the local references which are new to me, feels like I'm transported to Australia. 😆Like what's Texta, bin chickens, or deros? It's great to learn new things and enjoy this well-written mystery at the same time!

I'd like to thank T.W. Lawless for providing me with a physical copy of the novel to review.

What to do when serenity can't be found.
In this, the sixth book in the Peter Clancy series, award winning investigative journalist, Peter Clancy, finds himself on the mend after a life altering heart attack. After learning it's time to take care of himself he reluctantly moves from London to the coastal town of Serenity Bay, Australia. He's ready to slow down and he buys a house to start over. What he finds when he moves in is that he has loud, obnoxious and slutty neighbors and not the peace and quiet he was hoping for. When he starts looking into what his neighbors are up to, he soon finds himself knee deep in the muck with a need to get to the bottom of the town's corruption and a possible murder. What follows is a cleverly written story I couldn't put down.

Although this is part of a series it does well as a stand-alone thriller. Peter is a compelling protagonist that I could see being friends with. All the characters, good and bad, are well rounded, fleshed out and believable and who doesn't love a beautiful coastal beach setting to sink their feet into. I really enjoyed this one recommend you add it to your TBR pile.

Thank you to the author and Campanile Publishing for the gifted copy for me to read, review and enjoy.

Book six in the Peter Clancy series, set in the world of investigative journalism, BEACHDAZE sees Peter back in Australia, out of the day-to-day newspaper game and up to his elbows in neighbourhood dispute from the moment he sets foot in his new home.

Readers of the earlier books in the series will find the idea that Clancy has given up the high-octane world of investigative journalism in swinging London slightly surprising. He got there via an interesting route, starting out his reporting days on the old Truth newspaper in Melbourne, Australia (denizens of the state of Victoria, of an age sufficient enough to remember the Truth, will recall clearly the sometime gulf between the publication's title and it's content, although really it was a tabloid that launched a number of very high profile careers in real life).

Clancy's return to Australia has been precipitated by a health crisis, and the news that the heart attack he suffered was likely to reoccur should he not adjust his lifestyle. A move to a quiet coastal town to write a book seems like exactly the right idea, although the purchase of a house unseen, almost while he's in transit from the UK seems like a brave move, particularly when he discovers he's landed in a location anything but quiet. Peter's new neighbours are a fractious lot, not helped at all by the dodgy behaviour of a very suspect character new to the area himself. Not even a reunion with his oldest friend can change the course of Peter's perked interest though, as investigation is his default setting, although less kind individuals might put it down to him being as nosy as many of his new neighbours.

As with earlier books in this series, each entry can stand on its own if you're new to the set. As you'd also expect from 6 novels now, it would be better if a reader could start from the beginning and work their way through, as Clancy's backstory is a big part of the world he inhabits, and the way that he always reacts to events. It's also a great series for giving you a feel for the good old days of investigative journalism, newspapers, and the cut and thrust of newsrooms the world over. I've always been a bit of a fan of the supporting characters in this series as well, and the return of Conni and her place in this world fleshed out his private life, as the earlier books have done with the professional.

The investigation at the heart of BEACHDAZE starts off with the sorts of typical neighbourhood disputes that happen in areas undergoing rapid (and often very dodgy) development. Fence disputes, illegal dumping and vandalism escalate to break-ins and threats, leading rapidly to a series of sudden and unexplained deaths. The authorities (and there's more than a hint of corruption there) are loath to get involved early on in the piece, which leaves the sleuthing field wide open for Peter, an invitation he's unable to resist - health concerns or no health concerns.

Written with a lightish touch, a hefty sense of dry humour, and great affection, the Peter Clancy series is a nice little distraction from the utter binfire that's mainstream journalism these days.

Recently I got my hands on T W Lawless' book 'Beachdaze'. Peter Clancy is the hero of our story. He is an investigative journalist in London. After having and surviving a mild heart attack, Doc advised Peter to leave his career and settle at a peaceful place. For Peter, his work is everything for him. He doesn't have a wife, kid, family, etc.

After receiving a warning from the Doctor, Peter moved to Serenity Bay, Australia. Peter enjoyed the peace of Serenity Bay. He decided to turn into a freelancer to keep his hand in. The peace though didn't last longer. The neighbours' loudness, arguments, and injustice with people pulled Peter into the world of crime to do the investigation. He doubted that one of the owners was a murderer. When Peter's help was asked, he got involved deeper to dig into the world of Australian crime.

It is a unique story with well written characters. The language is easy to follow and I have a great time reading this book. The narration is strong and it pulled me into the story so much that I forgot the real world around me for a while.

Those who love reading Australian crime fiction or thriller books shouldn't miss to read this one. The author has certainly done a fantastic job in this crime fiction.

T W Lawless' "Beachdaze" is an intriguing story. Even though this book is sixth in the Peter Clancy book series, one could read it as a standalone too. The main character of the story is Peter Clancy. He is an investigative journalist and would win your heart immediately. Peter loves his life in London but after a mild heart attack, the doctor advised him to move to Australia where he could have proper rest, a peaceful life and no hustle.

Peter moved to Serenity Bay in Australia. He bought a house there thinking it was a peaceful place. Soon, Peter realised his neighbours are loud and nosy. He suspected a murder and soon couldn't keep himself away from investigating more about it.

The plot of the story is interesting. The backdrop setting of Australia is something I loved. The twists in the story will keep you hooked till the end. It is an entertaining read with a detailed narrative. I enjoyed every bit of this book. I couldn't wait to get my hands on more books by the author.

TW Lawless in this enthralling work of creativity did perfect justice to this book. He takes us through the trail of Peter Clancy, an award-winning and devoted investigative journalist who after a heart condition decides to return to Australia for retirement. Little did he know what was laid in store for him. Reconnecting with Conni, Peter is introduced to Misha who inclines him to reconsider his retirement.

In BeachDaze, TW Lawless thoroughly emphasizes how ambitious, fearless, and relentless a journalist can be as long as justice is concerned. With Peter Clancy finding himself in a neighborhood filled with violence, pretense, and toxicity, he is determined to serve dogs like Eddie Arnold justice for waste pollution and every act of violence he was bent on inflicting on the vulnerable neighborhood.

This author in this thrilling piece also unearths the artificial and debt-filled lives of certain celebrities like Adriana Bulloch who willingly go any mile to brew their fake and pretentious lifestyle. Notwithstanding how broken and loveless her marriage was, she stuck to it all in a bid to live up to the elites' status quo. And with the likes of Sergeant Moylan, Adriana had all her dirty work covered with zero worries. How many more heads have to roll before justice arrives? However, with Peter back in town a lot of dirty secrets were bound to unravel.

Peter Clancy did not simply stop at being a journalist hungry for news and truth, but a born actor who never hesitated to put his skills to good use – without having to break the law of course. I for one picked a thing or two from him.

Did I forget to cite the author's use of sarcasm to create humor? This literary device not only provided comic relief but gave more life to the story. This he employed mostly in Peter's utterances and thoughts. There was always a perfect sarcastic response waiting at the launch of every attack. That I found very humorous.

I likewise commend the author's writing style; clear and straight to the point yet never lacking in fact. It is undoubtedly a derivative of intensive research and mind-blowing creativity.

In a nutshell, BeachDaze was an intriguing read filled with perfect twists and crazy conspiracy theories. I was glued to the very end. Hence, I highly recommend it to every lover of a good book. Trust me, it has the right dose of just everything.

Beachdaze written by the author TW Lawless is the sixth installment in the Peter Clancy book series. The protagonist of the story is Peter Clancy, an investigative journalist in London. After surviving a mild heart attack, the doctor gave him an ultimatum to change his lifestyle and get away from the bad influences. Peter was advised to find some serenity in life and live a healthy life.

He moved to a peaceful town of Serenity Bay, Melbourne, Australia. Peter bought a beach house and found out a week later that his neighbours are both nosy and noisy. Soon, Serenity Bay started to feel like Hicksville by the sea. Peter wants to stay low key but the situations and people of Serenity Bay are pulling him in.

This is a gripping story and it kept me on the edge until the last page. The cover photo of the book is nice and the title couldn't have been better than this. The character of Peter is really interesting. Even though this book is sixth in the series, one could read it as standalone also. Add this book to your tbr. You would have a great time reading it.

Serenity is synonymous with tranquility and peace. If you move to an area surrounded by water, you want to enjoy the views and tranquility of the waves crashing into the sand. Well, Peter Clancy moved to the perfect coastal town in Australia that was far from peaceful. Trouble always finds its way to Peter, and he can't ignore an opportunity to help people. His investigative reporting is important especially when people are dumping illegally and taking over farms. Whenever trucks flew down the street and dug holes, his neighborhood was far from peaceful. His neighbor ruined Peter's tranquility, and Peter was ready for revenge. His investigative reporting helped him reveal the culprits of the illegal dumping and saved twin seniors from losing their home and money. I loved that Peter isn't scared of getting in the middle of trouble but walks straight into it with no fear. I was happy that all the evil characters got what they deserved. It's always money that makes people turn a blind eye to what is right. Check out Peter's not-so-serene neighborhood.

In TW Lawless' true clever writing style, this was another great plot with many character sub stories to keep you guessing 'who done it' to the end whilst you build the case through the journo mind of Peter Clancy. Loved that the scene of this story was back in Australia to enjoy the additions of Aussie slang, that just adds another level of entertainment to enjoy whilst reading.

I've been reading TW's books for years. I think this is his best since Blurline. Action-packed with quirky, shady characters and the humour is a stand out. Couldn't put this book down.
