Θεωρώ ότι το οπισθόφυλλο δίνει επαρκή στοιχεία, ίσως και περισσότερα από όσα, προσωπικά, θα ήθελα να ξέρω. Ρίξτε του μια ματιά και αν το βρείτε ενδιαφέρον να είστε σίγουροι ότι δεν θα σας απογοητεύσει!

One could say that the story is almost naive.Trully, there are many cliches that you often meet in action-mystery books like the ones that probably have inspired the writer.
But i have to say that i really liked this one! Ι could feel the zest of a new writer and her enthusiasm right before my eyes. Suspense, fast pace, small chapters jumping among the storylines. Interesting characters, vivid descriptions, great depiction of the scenery where the story takes place- you are being offered a mini tour guide for Stockholm while reading this. Elements of mythtology combined with environmental issues. Well done Ms Schwartz and kudos for the smart reference το the band fields of the nephilim, your music taste gives you a credit.
And a reference for greeks only. I had to stand up from my sofa to get that book. And this guy would approve it.

Grymt svårt att inte gilla denna bok om man är som jag.
Att blanda klimatförändringar och Greenpeace med mytologiska inslag är ett utmärkt drag för att hålla mig fast.
Ännu bättre blir det av att de fallna änglarna som beblandar sig med människor och har övernaturliga krafter inte alls blir något konstigt. Dessa människor skulle absolut kunna leva mitt ibland oss, vem vet?
Jag gillar skarpt att den vi får följa är en 19-årig greenpeaceaktivist som tillsammans med två vänner gjort en "Dirty-Thirty"lista på företag de valt att hämnas på. Tyvärr hamnar hon mitt på en mordplats när hon är där för att idka skadegörelse.
Polisen Amanda går heller inte att låta bli att tycka om då hon springer runt i jakten Nova, hennes vänner och ev andra mördare fast hon hela tiden är illamående och t o m tvingas kräkas i sin nyinköpta Diorväska.
Slutet öppnar upp för en fortsättning...hurra!

Una buena idea mal desarrollada. Se me ha hecho muy muy aburrido, y es una pena porque me gusta el tema de los Angeles Caídos… aún así, no me extraña en absoluto que sea el único libro traducido al español de la autora.

Es gibt so Bücher, bei denen muss man nach dem Lesen erstmal etwas überlegen, wie man sie denn fand. Nephilim gehörte bei mir dazu. Zunächst möchte ich anerkennen, dass die Autorin Wert darauf legt, Umweltsünden anzuprangern. Ganz besonders interessant fand ich die Aktion, bei der nach vorne hin vom Konzern Unterschriften für ein besseres Klima gesammelt wurden, das Ergebnis in Wahrheit aber nur dazu führen soll, dass größere Klimasünden weniger hart bestraft werden. Leider ist es eine traurige Wahrheit geworden, dass man heutzutage alles hinterfragen muss, was besonders große Konzerne im vermeintlich guten Sinn anbieten.
Auch merkt man, dass eine gewisse Vorliebe für italienische Speisen vorhanden scheint und fast hätte ich am Ende noch ein paar Hinweise erwartet, wo es gute Snacks zu kaufen gibt.
Als frischgebackene Mutter ist mir natürlich Amanda Festhalten an der Schwangerschaft sehr nahe gegangen, aber da beginnt es schon: Ihr werden beide Eierstöcke durch den Schuss zerstört, aber das Baby überlebt? Und was inhaltlich viel spannender ist: Wieso haben diese ach so mächtigen Nephilim zugelassen, dass sie den Jungen zur Welt bringt und das Blut weiter verwässert wird? Überhaupt Amanda: Soll die Geschichte mit der vollgekotzten Designertasche wirklich beweisen, wie tough sie ist? Offenbar hat sie ja schon bewiesen, dass sie zu den Besten gehört, wie auch immer das sein kann, wenn doch immer wieder Nova belangt wird, sogar nachdem sie (offenbar ohne jeden Blutfleck) neben einer soeben enthaupteten Leiche gefunden wurde. Es mag ja sein, dass die Schwangerschaft Amanda in Verwirrung stürzt, aber so unfähig ihr sonstiges Team auch dargestellt wird, irgendjemandem wird doch wohl mal aufgefallen sein müssen, dass das alles nicht zusammenpasst.
Besonders schade finde ich, dass die Nephilim so relativ kurz kommen, die meinem Empfinden nach eine sehr gute Basis für eine spannende Geschichte bildeten. Nur die wenigen, die man kennenlernt, gehen eher mit der Holzhammermethode zu Werke. Ein Hauch von "an der Sache könnte etwas dran sein" verbleibt (vermutlich aber leider unbeabsichtigt) durch die schnelle Heilungsfähigkeit, die Nova von ihrem Vater geerbt hat.
In der Summe bleibt für mich ein erhobener Zeigefinger verpackt in einen Krimi mit dem leichten, aber gescheiterten Versuch, eine geheime Großorganisation als wahre Bedrohung darzustellen.

An example of Nordic Noir supplemented with not-so-good angels. Or perhaps they were just human beings who thought they were angels...
(Almost) everything that happened could be inserted into the framework "normal" - or at least close.
I was skeptical when I started coz I'm not in any way keen on angel stories (I think there is an angel novel genre - but not in crime fiction I suppose).
But the secondhand book was cheap, and the idea of bad angels killing business leaders who are responsible for heavily polluting firms and ignoring the climate change was intriguing - kind of supernatural environmental activism - or terrorism in this case.
The story wasn't supernatural and the killings were (as they nowadays tend to be) bloody and macabre. No tidy poisonings, stabbings or shootings a'la Agatha Christie but slaughterhouse style bloodbaths with bowels and body parts.
If one excludes the possible angel factor the story wasn't very unique; it was interesting enough to spend time with so the 300 pages was an easy task.
The city of Stockholm was very much present. I liked that, although the street names told me quite little and I couldn't locate the places very often though I've been to Stockholm several times.

Creía que sería un libro policíaco, con activistas medioambientales implicados, pero... sí, es eso, pero hay más, como conspiraciones a nivel mundial y un cierto toque de misticismo.
La protagonista, en contra de lo que pueda parecer, no es la policía encargada de la investigación de una serie de asesinatos contra directivos de empresas contaminantes, sino que es Nova, una activista muy implicada en acciones para concienciar sobre como la industrialización global, el uso de combustibles fósiles, etc; y que debido a sus antecedentes familiares, también se debe enfrentar a otros peligros.
Entretenido.
La protagonista, en contra de lo que pueda parecer, no es la policía encargada de la investigación de una serie de asesinatos contra directivos de empresas contaminantes, sino que es Nova, una activista muy implicada en acciones para concienciar sobre como la industrialización global, el uso de combustibles fósiles, etc; y que debido a sus antecedentes familiares, también se debe enfrentar a otros peligros.
Entretenido.

Nefilim, en castellano titulado "Ángel Caído" es una novela policial, que transcurre en la ciudad de Estocolmo, capital de Suecia. Nova una joven activista de Greenpeace, junto con unos amigos deciden que es hora de empezar a hacer las cosas un poco mas duras en la campaña por defender el medio ambiente. Así es que planean ingresar en la casa de una familia, en la cual el hombre es dueño de una de las compañías que mayor contaminación generan en Suecia. La idea es simple, hacer solo unos pocos grafitis en las paredes para asustarlos y tratar de que así tomen conciencia de lo que su empresa esta haciendo. Para eso Nova planea todo y el día que junto a sus amigos llevan a cabo su idea, Nova sube al departamento de esta familia y comienza a grafitar, aunque siente el olor de suciedad lo relaciona con que lleva varios días el departamento cerrado. Sin embargo empieza a ver manchas de sangre en el lugar, al llegar a la alcoba.. se encuentra con una escena que se puede asociar con la del artista William Hogarth (Las cuatro etapas de la crueldad). A partir de ese momento la vida de Nova comienza a verse involucrada en un montón de cosas que no entiende y encima su madre muere en un accidente de transito. Amanda la policía que llevara a cabo la investigación de los asesinatos que comienzan a suceder, tendrá más de una sorpresa en estas situaciones.
La verdad es una novela muy entretenida, algo difícil al principio de entender, porque salta de un personaje a otro, en distintos tiempos. Hasta que todo lleva al "día presente". Por otro lado también confunde un poco la descripción de las calles y los lugares de la ciudad, sobre todo para alguien que no esta acostumbrado a ese tipo de ambiente. En mi caso, estoy más acostumbrada a ubicaciones como ciudades norteamericanas, Londres o bien mundos de fantasía o la edad media. Pero luego de que uno se acostumbra, se vuelve aún más atrapante es como viajar a la ciudad de Estocolmo y recorrer sus calles de la mano de Nova. El desenlace y los personajes involucrados al final no me lo imaginaba, lo cual también me gustó bastante. Le doy 4/5 estrellas solo por la confusión del principio de saltar un poco de personaje en personaje y de sucesos pasados al presente, que al principio no se entiende cual es la relación.

Nova Barakel will die Welt retten und arbeitet deswegen bei Greenpeace. Aber ihr und ihren Freunden gehen die Aktionen der Umweltaktivisten nicht weit genug und so bricht sie in die Wohnung des Geschäftsführers von Vattenfall ein. Eigentlich will sie nur ein paar Parolen an die Wände sprühen, was sie dann aber im Schlafzimmer entdeckt lässt sie würgen. Dort wurden die Leichen der Familie kunstvoll in einem morbiden Szenario arrangiert. Alle Spuren führen zu Nova und so gerät sie unter Mordverdacht. Aber nicht nur die Polizei hat ein Auge auf sie geworfen, sondern auch eine ominöse Gesellschaft, die sich als „Freunde der Nephilim“ bezeichnet und irgendetwas mit dem tragischen Unfalltod ihrer Mutter zu tun haben. Als die Situation ausweglos erscheint, beginnt Nova auf eigene Faust zu ermitteln und findet sich bald im Brennpunkt einer Verschwörung wieder, die so einige Überraschungen für sie bereit hält.
Das Buch ließ sich leicht lesen, vor allem gefiel mir der rasante Beginn, auch wenn für meinen Geschmack der ganze globale Erwärmungswahn überhand nahm. In allem was die Hauptakteurin tut hinterfragt sie die Schäden, die sie der Umwelt zufügt, selbst wenn es um so simple Dinge geht, wie ein Burger bei McDonalds. Ein Ermahnung an den Leser alle Handlungen danach zu berechnen wie viel CO2 sie erzeugen und wie sehr wir der Umwelt schaden. Ich hatte zwischendurch allein schon ein schlechtes Gewissen, weil ich atme. Die Geschichte wirkt manchmal arg konstruiert und an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Am meisten hat mich der Fantasy Anteil genervt. Hätte die Autorin verzichtet, den Nephilim Superkräfte anzuhängen, wäre die ganze Geschichte ein bisschen glaubwürdiger rüber gekommen und ein toller Thriller daraus geworden, aber so war es lediglich seichte Unterhaltung gepaart mit dem erhobenen Zeigefinger die Erde zu retten und ein paar ekligen Beschreibungen der Morde.

Había leído alguna novela de éste género con anterioridad y en mayor o menor medida me habían agradado. Lamentablemente este no es el caso de "Angel caído". Me ha parecido un libro que tiene una buena idea como base pero que no está para nada bien aprovechada ni desarrollada.
En primer lugar quiero señalar que tiene muy pocos diálogos lo que hace más pesada su lectura pese a ser cortito, unas 250 páginas, de no ser así y si hubiera tenido 400 o 500 creo que habría abandonado su lectura, pues está narrado de una manera que no logra conectar con el lector.
No nos involucra con los personajes protagonistas ya que tiene pocos detalles intimistas respecto a su carácter, estado de ánimo o sensaciones, tampoco ahonda prácticamente nada en sus vidas y situaciones personales.
Por otro lado ni siquiera la lectura está dividida en capítulos, cuando le parece a la escritora, Asa Schwarz, corta por lo sano la escena y empieza por otro lado con un nuevo párrafo.
Las relaciones personales entre algunos de los protagonistas tampoco están bien perfiladas, hay algún atisbo de sexo en alguna escena y cuando piensas que a ver si al menos por ahí se anima la cosa... nada, ni flores...
Se deja leer perfectamente porque el estilo es simple y sencillo, osea que al menos entenderlo lo vamos a entender, pero tiene muchas carencias y no conecta contigo ni engancha.
A su favor he de decir que en las últimas 80 páginas aproximadamente la cosa se anima un poco porque la trama da un giro inesperado y también tenemos alguna sorpresa, aunque un poco previsible porque yo ya me lo imaginaba y eso que soy de las que nunca adivinan lo que va a pasar... pero todo esto llega demasiado tarde para mi gusto.
En resumen y como he dicho antes, creo que es una buena idea y una buena base pero mal desarrollada y trabajada.

Nova works for Greenpeace and has decided to start targeting the Dirty 30 with a couple of her friends. Their plan is to break into on of the CEO’s apartments and graffiti it. Unfortunately, when Nova gets in the apartment, she finds the CEO, his wife, and the family dog murdered and posed.
Police officer Amanda is having a harsh week. She is suffering from a horrible stomach and wants nothing more than to curl up in bed. But she is the one inspecting the death of Nova’s mother. And she gets wrapped up in the murder of the CEO. When a couple more people end up dead with all signs pointing at Nova, this looks like a pretty gory yet easy case, if she can find Nova.
But that is not all. There is also a death of a gentleman that was trying to find The Ark and a mysterious FON foundation that has split Nova’s inheritance. Nova has to clear her name and find out what is really going on before she ends up in prison.
This was an interesting read. It is an English translation from Swedish which I think might have altered some of the meaning with the story. I liked Nova. She was just going to harass an environmental violator and ends up being suspect number one. There were some interesting environmental facts that were good but did get a little oppressive towards the end. I also feel like the FON was an interesting addition but I felt that area was a little week.
Beyond that, it was a good book. It was an interesting idea and I admit that I had to reference a couple things, like William Hogarth. I think that there is the possibility of a sequel where we could get more into the FON. If you are big into the environment and murder, you should read this book. I think you will like it.

Police officer Amanda is having a harsh week. She is suffering from a horrible stomach and wants nothing more than to curl up in bed. But she is the one inspecting the death of Nova’s mother. And she gets wrapped up in the murder of the CEO. When a couple more people end up dead with all signs pointing at Nova, this looks like a pretty gory yet easy case, if she can find Nova.
But that is not all. There is also a death of a gentleman that was trying to find The Ark and a mysterious FON foundation that has split Nova’s inheritance. Nova has to clear her name and find out what is really going on before she ends up in prison.
This was an interesting read. It is an English translation from Swedish which I think might have altered some of the meaning with the story. I liked Nova. She was just going to harass an environmental violator and ends up being suspect number one. Une bonne surprise. Je m'attendais à bien pire parce que 1) ce livre était tellement soldé que c'en était suspect et 2) le dernier thriller aux tons pseudo-bibliques que j'ai lu m'avait au final assez déplu.
Nephilim suit les péripéties de Nova, jeune militante de la branche suédoise de Greenpeace, accusée à tort d'une série de meurtres. Le roman met un certain temps à réellement commencer, préférant développer des personnages que j'ai trouvé attachants et moins stéréotypés que d'habitude. L'enquête suit son cours à un rythme agréable, mais la fin m'a semblé quelque peu précipitée. C'est au moment où j'étais vraiment à fond dans l'histoire que je me suis rendu compte qu'il me restait à peine une petite cinquantaine de pages à lire !
L'autre point négatif que je soulignerais serait la pertinence de la présence des "Nephilim", ces enfants d'anges et de femmes humaines, dans les conflits politico-écologiques. J'ai bien compris que c'était le dernier truc à la mode, après les vampires et les zombies, mais le roman aurait très bien tenu la route sans ce détail qui n'était d'ailleurs guère développé hormis dans les premiers et les derniers chapitres. Mais je reste indulgente car Nephilim est manifestement le premier tome d'une série qui exploitera ce thème plus en profondeur.

pretty interesting book, some nice little twists as well. the reason i didnt give this book a higher rating is because while i did want to finish Nefilim and find out the who done it, i mainly wanted to finish Nefilim asap so i could start Scent of Magic which i KNOW will blow my mind. poor Nefilim really didnt have a chance against Scent of Magic.
i also think a lot of the books greatness and magic gets lost whenever they translate it into another language, which is a major shame.
i still really like how this book was about polution and the enviorment even if it did take on a weird religious.supernatural flair. (which i believe the book would of been better off without).
the ending with Amanda was quiet sweet and something i enjoyed. the cover i thought was quiet beautiful.

What a book.
I went in thinking it would be something else - I thought it would be really mythology based but I was wrong. And in a good way. This was a whole lot more than fallen angels, it was about the Earth and the conditions of it, it went really in depth about Greenpeace and their work, it was also a police thriller with action, fast paced, scenes...
In a good way! All of it in a really good way.
I absolutely loved the writing style - really fast, filled with lovely descriptions that really set the tone of the book and the story... What a character development for the main gal!!! And also important secondary characters that made the whole experience a lot nicer - and their participation wasn't just on scenes they were needed, you also got a look at their lives and their thoughts. I love things like that!
The whole solution and the whole reason behind the mystery of the book didn't quite catch me, sadly. I think it was too thought up and ended up being really unsatisfying. But I enjoyed the "finding it out" part.

Even een lekkere snack tussendoor gelezen. Dit boek vond ik wel leuk en met 249 pagina's ook snel uit. De schrijfstijl was ook lekker vlot wat ook weer meehielp. Ik had het tweede deel voorbij zien komen bij ebook.nl en wilde hem eigenlijk kopen en toen zag ik dat het eerste deel aanwezig was bij de bieb dus heb ik hem maar even gehaald en gelezen. Ik vond hem wel leuk maar niet leuk genoeg om deel 2 te gaan kopen als ebook.
edit: Nu ik dit zit te lezen, moet ik eerlijk toegeven dat dit boek totaal geen indruk heeft achtergelaten want ik ben nu een jaar later en ik kan me dit hele boek niet herinneren. Toch nog maar even deel 2 gereserveerd bij de bieb.

Poimin tämän sattumalta kirjastosta ja lukukokemus yllätti positiivisesti! Tarina eteni nopeaan tahtiin ja lyhyet, parin sivun mittaiset "luvut" saivat lukemaan vielä vähän lisää. Tykkäsin henkilöistä ja ajankohtaisesta ympäristönsuojeluteemasta ja siitä, miten mytologia oli liitetty siihen mukaan. Ja miljööpisteitä kesäisestä Tukholmasta! Tuli halu lähteä tutustumaan Tukholmaan paremmin. Miinuspisteitä kirjan lopusta, joka tuli vähän turhan töksähtäen. Olisin halunnut vielä tietää miten Novan ystävyys Arvidin ja Eddien kanssa jatkui.

Paras trilleri vuosiin. Ajankohtaisia aiheita (ilmastonmuutos, ympäristöaktivismi), salaseurafantasiaa ja Tukholman paikallishistoriaa yhdistelevä murhajännäri on täyttä tykitystä alusta loppuun. Henkilöhahmot nyt ei maailman upeimmin rakennettuja ole, mutta se tämän lajityypin teoksessa anteeksi annettakoon. Loistavaa viihdettä.

Pues un 1 1/2 y poco que comentar, porque ni para eso me motiva esta novela, en la que a la protagonista se le ven ciertos visos a lo Lisbeth Salander, pero quedándose a medias y a la historia le falta gracia. Me ha sonado a cosa ya leída y me ha aburrido un poquito. Que no cuenten conmigo para segundas partes... será que los nefilim no son lo mío.

I loved this book! The fast-paced suspense and the strong, original female protagonists. I also found the biblical references and mystical plot was very realistic, as well as I enjoyed a fiction novel engaged in environmental awareness. Most of all, I found Nova to be a very intriguing and fascinating character. I read it all in one hit.

Vähän nopeasti ja selittelemättä kirjoitettu kirja, joka jäi pahasti kesken. En tiedä onko tulossa jatko-osaa, mutta vähän vaikutti siltä lopun perusteella.
Kiva idea, mutta olisihan tuota nyt voinut vähän pidemminkin taustoittaa ja perustella. Nyt hypättiin vähän liikkuvan junan kyytiin kesken matkan ja samaa vauhtia pois näkemättä lähtö- tai päätöspysäkkiä.

I have a special place in my heart for stories like this, and my hopes were sooo high when I found this book.
Only to be disappointed gravely. The language is dull, characters superficial and the storyline was allover. And not in the good way.
I wanted to like this, I really did.
I'd give 1,5 stars for a good idea, and for my love of angelic creatures.
