I love history. I LOVE the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side of New York City. This book does an excellent job of painting a young girl's experience on the Lower East Side in the first part of the 20th century. Third to fifth graders would benefit from reading this for a better understanding of this time period and setting.

Enjoyed reading this small biography of a fascinating writer, who was indeed "a person" -- when you read the story, you'll understand the reference.
