Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author of dozens of novels and short stories. At TSR, Inc., she teamed with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. She is founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, licensing several popular television and movie franchises to make RPG series in addition to their own. In 1999, Pyramid magazine named Weis one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, saying she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre". In 2002, she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in part for Dragonlance.
I’ve been reading these with my son after finding them all at a book sale, so most of what I’ve said in the previous reviews applies here too (really not appropriate for the lower end of the stated 8-13 age range, and this one continues the trend - I thought that they would, for the first time, avoid a rape reference but sure enough there’s one right near the end).
Other than that, this volume at least doesn’t suffer from the fast-forwarding through the actual dungeon-crawling like the previous volume did, at least that I could tell. The Gnomes are finally introduced (yay!) and significantly raises the amount of humor, which definitely helps since it’s the “Empire Strikes Back” of the series in many ways along with the previous volume.
I have some reservations on the way that theology/religion is presented, compared to say Lord of the Rings, but I’m reviewing these as I read them so I think I’ll save it for the end. It’s at least less screwed up than the Forgotten Realms in that regard…
Alles recht durchschnittlich. 6-7 von 10 Punkten.
