Denyse Devlin, who also writes as Denyse Woods, was born in Boston in 1958 and is the daughter of an Irish diplomat. As a result of that, and of her career as a translator in the Middle East, she has travelled extensively and had many homes around the world. In 1987 she settled in Co. Cork with her husband. They have two teenage daughters.
Utterly dire. Struggled through this. There was no point to it! The only reason I kept on reading is to find out why she ran off from her husband and that revelation came less than 100 pages from the end and was not worth the wait. Skim read through the last 200 pages and can honestly say that I don't think I missed anything. Ugh, just UGH.
I loved The Catalpa Tree. Really loved it. And I think I loved this one, too. Maybe not quite as much, as there were times when the character really annoyed me... but all the same, I liked it. A lot. And I will absolutely keep reading as long as she is writing.
Too long, I wanted to find out what had happened to get her into the situation she was in but it was a slog to get to the end. The travel scenes were very well written though.
