This is a great book to read if you're considering adopting a parakeet. The author is a biologist and parakeet enthusiast, so you get not only tips on how to take care of your pet, but also information about the birds in the wild. (I didn't realized budgies still lived in the wild in Australia!) If I decide to get another parakeet, I will definitely keep this book around for reference--the author lists typical symptoms and remedies for illnesses and nutritional deficiencies that a pet owner might encounter.
