Harper Landry enjoys her quiet life in Blooming Grove, Montana with her grandparents and town full of friends. That all changes when she learns that the family farm is going to be lost to the bank if she doesn’t find a way to raise money – and fast. Even worse? Her grandparents are moving away, but they aren’t willing to leave Harper alone. They strike a deal: clear the debt and find a husband by fall or get on the next train to Minnesota. Will Harper find someone to love by the end of summer, or will everything be lost?
James Miller spent the winter recovering from a nasty leg wound, just to learn that his best friend might be leaving Blooming Grove. He vows to do whatever it takes to help Harper stay, and after watching his brother settle down, he’s starting to think he knows just how he can help – until he nearly ruins her life and leaves the door wide open for another man to step in. Will James be too late to show Harper they can be more than friends, or will he lose her forever?
Sarah Stubbs is the author of the Brides of Blooming Grove series. Holding degrees in English, history, and business, she combines her curiosity about the past with her love of storytelling. When she’s not writing or reading one of the books on her neglected TBR, you can find her dipping her toes into the Atlantic Ocean or visiting a local museum. She was born and raised in North Carolina, where she still resides today.
I can honestly say that I was just as impressed with this book as I was with the first one. Kept my interest from cover to cover. I do have a question though, how soon is the next one?
Harper finds out her grandp!rents are moving to Minneapolis and she is to go with them, because the farm will be lost due to unpaid loans. She makes a deal with the banker to wait until after harvest, and convinces her grandparents to stay until then. They agree but tell her they won't leave unless she's married. James Miller is her lifelong friend, but she looks elsewhere and is courted by a shady character. When she collapses from exhaustion and a near heat stroke, her suitor proves he is worthless in a crisis but James is there for the count. Now the question is whether the crop will be harvested in time to satisfy the bank. Such a good story!
Searching for a Suitor is the second book in The Brides of Blooming Grove series. It is the story of a Harper who is struggling to keep her families ranch and a young rancher James who has been in love with Harper his entire life, but has not told her due to family obligations. The story has a lot of great characters, a few of whom have stories of their own in other books. The series is a clean romance, which honestly I prefer. I like it when the author focuses more on the character's and the storyline. If you enjoy historical romances, I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down until I was finished.Landry and Jame were neighbors and best friends who grew up together and were in love but didn’t know it.Landry lived with her Grandparents who were about to ode the farm.Landry has to find a way to save it all
This is a fun and exciting tale of two young people that have grown up together from childhood. They are having all kinds of problem and among them, do the like each other as friends of do they love each other. In the beginning they aren’t sure. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.
This was a delightful story, so well written. It is a historical novel, well researched and I always enjoy it when I read about how the author incorporates historical events in their stories. The characters were childhood friends so it takes the whole story to see if they can transition their friendship into something more. I loved the ending. I’ll want to read this one again someday.
Fully enjoyed this read! I am not someone who typically reads historical fiction, but I could not put this book down. This author has developed the story beautifully since the first installment of the Brides of Blooming Grove, and I cannot wait for the next book.
I enjoyed reading Searching for a Suitor ( Brides of Blooming Grove) I really hope the author Sarah Stubbs is writing book 3 of this series!! I will buy it as soon as it is published.
I liked this story because it told if the hard work and understanding it takes to find the right person to make a match. I liked how hard work together when needed was possible.
Hard, dedicated work provides a successful outcome. Steady, consent effort yields success. Heroine knows what she wants and works hard to achieve. Love reveals itself, also.
