When Esmeralda the elephant wants to be a ballerina, Mummy's not so sure...after all, elephants don't do ballet! But Esmeralda always gets what she wants, and she joins a ballet class. While the little ballerinas twirl, Esmeralda gets her trunk in a tangle, and when they learn jumps, she only manages a crash landing! But, as Esmeralda triumphantly goes on to prove, elephants can do ballet!
It was a really cute story line with cute pictures and all....BUT the star of the story also struggled with a bad attitude and a temper that was never addressed but only catered to. So while we read the book we also had a conversation at the end about what kind of attitudes are pleasing to God. Let me say, too, that while my 3 year old didn't pick up on that underlying theme, my 5 year old did. So it wasn't really obvious, but enough to make a lesson out of it. Knowing this befor reading this would have been helpful. I hope it helps you.
