A new case for Patrick Gillard and Ingrid Langley - When a DCI is killed in a car crash, his superiors are convinced he was silenced because he was investigating the murder of MP Jason Giddings. Patrick Gillard and his consultant (and wife) Ingrid Langley are brought in to assess further risks to the police. They discover that DS Erin Melrose is determined to find the killers, and it is a mission that will put her and others in grave danger . . .
Cobweb, by Margaret Duffy. B-plus. Narrated by Patricia Gallimore, produced by Isis. Downloaded from audible.com.
Patrick Gillard and his wife, Ingrid Langley, who met working for MI5 and are now consultants to the police, are hired to help determine who killed MP Jason Giddings, and whether his murder is related to those of two police officers who were working on his investigation, or whether it’s just a coincidence that they were killed. This is an action packed book, well narrated. Ingrid gets some good licks in with the enemy and saves Patrick’s life a few times. Gallimore can make her voice sound so much like a man you forget she isn’t one when reading male character roles. This was good escapist reading, action-packed. A little too James Bondish for my tastes but a good diversion from the heavier books I’ve been reading.
