Sweet Life in Seattle #4

Object of My Addiction

Rate this book
High school is over, but her grudge against him isn’t.

Three things Tori Church loves:

1. Her dogs (a.k.a. "the boys")
2. 80’s hair bands
3. Dr. Adrian Grant

As you can see, Liam Castillo is not on this list. He never will be either.

He's the loser who humiliated her in high school. Embarrassing her in front of everyone while he and his jock buddies laughed.

Dr. Adrian Grant, the new vet at the animal hospital, is handsome and kind. The perfect man. Tori’s tired of dating losers. Tired of dead-end relationships. She’s determined to find her special person and is convinced Dr. Adrian is The One.

But then Liam hires her as his pet sitter, and the trouble starts.

Who would have guessed he's an FBI agent? Or has these warm brown eyes and sensual lips. This strong muscular body. He used to play professional baseball.

Plus, it turns out Liam is sort of nice. A lot nicer than she remembers.

Tori's worried.

Is she really falling for the horrible guy she's held a grudge against all these years?

Warning: Contains one broodingly handsome FBI agent, one over-scheduled heroine, a furball named Miss Fancy Pants, steamy sex scenes, ...and the story of a boy who once had a crush on a girl and asked her to a high school dance.

Andrea Simonne grew up as an army brat and discovered she had a talent for creating personas at each new school. The most memorable was a surfer chick named "Ace" who never touched a surf board in her life, but had an impressive collection of puka shell necklaces. Eventually she turned her imagination towards writing. Andrea still enjoys creating personas, though these days they occupy her books. She's an Amazon bestseller in romantic comedy and contemporary romance, and author of the series Sweet Life in Seattle and About Love. She currently makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and two sons.

This is the last book in my binge read of Andrea Simonne’s Sweet Life in Seattle and it’s my favorite. A high school accident/misunderstanding led to a life-long grudge, but when FBI agent Liam Castillo sees Tori Church again after over a decade, he knows two things; she’s still as pretty as ever and he’s going to make her understand what happened back then wasn’t his fault. She is full of sass and works four jobs to make her dreams come true, he’s on his second career his dream career, after his first was thwarted by injury. She was brought up not to trust law enforcement, he’s a third generation agent, what can go wrong?

Liam and Tori’s story begins in high school when he asked her to the homecoming dance and she said no, not because she didn’t think he was cute and nice but because she knew their families were too different and worried when he saw how she lived that would be the end of them. At the dance Liam accidentally dumps a chocolate milkshake on Tori, but she thinks he did it on purpose, everyone about them including her best friend thinks he did it on purpose, and from there on out Tori wanted nothing to do with Liam despite him maintaining his innocence. Now a decade later they meet again when he brings in Miss Fancy Pants, his ex-girlfriend’s dog she abandoned when she left him, to the vet’s office where she works part-time as a technician. Their meeting is less than stellar but when Tori discovers Mable, her minivan, stolen from the parking lot at work, Liam sticks close by while she gives them the information they need and despite her frosty reception he knows he’ll see her again soon.

In some ways Liam and Tori were complete opposites, but in other ways they were very much alike. It was interesting watching Liam go from being a guy who really had no use for a dog fall head over hills for the fluff ball left in his care. With Tori’s help he truly began to understand everything pet ownership entails and how to be a good dog dad. It was cute seeing how protective he was of Fancy after a short time. On the other hand he had an uphill battle with Tori; despite feeling she was just as attracted to him as he was to her.

He soon realizes Tori has more on her plate than most people given that she works at the pet clinic, has her own pet sitting service, maintains her brother’s website, volunteers at a no-kill shelter and takes care of her mom when she gets out of control drunk that she bothers the neighbors. He admires her dedication to all things, but he also wonders while she’s taking care of everyone, who takes care of her and vows he’s going to be that person.

Liam was a stand-up guy and clued in very quickly about Tori’s intimacy issues as well as the problems she has with her mother and her mom’s latest loser boyfriend. It’s easy to see that Tori realizes that Liam is someone who has her best interest at heart.

What I loved about this story was that for the most part is that once they decided to be together all the strife came from outside sources. They got along fantastically, they enjoyed quiet nights at home, fun evenings out, and even getaways together something Tori had never made time for before. While there was an incident that had them on different sides, they even managed to work through that. Tori was a bit blind to the issues with her Mom, but as it was all she knew since she was a toddler she didn’t realize her part in it. I admired her for being able to look at Liam and say she was wrong and was working on having a healthier relationship with her mother.

This enemies to lovers, opposites attract story featured interesting characters, an outstanding plot, and a satisfying romance. I thoroughly enjoyed Object of My Addiction.

Tori is the most annoying character I have ever read. I almost didn’t finish this book but I’m invested and want to finish out the series. I actually didn’t want them to get back together, Liam deserves so much better, no idea why he likes her. She is so immature and unlikeable that it’s not just that I found her annoying, I actively dislike her. I usually finish books in a day or two but this has taken me so much longer because I don’t really want to read it, she bothers me too much. She legit acts like a middle schooler. I’ve actually found all the female main characters in this series some level of annoying or unlikeable, but Tori takes the cake. Loved all the male main characters in the series, wish we got some more of their viewpoint.

The epilogue reads like it’s trying to be the last book in the series, a list of everything that’s happened with every character in all the past books. It felt odd. I also thought it was a little odd that Tori’s mom is such a main character throughout the book and in the epilogue the author drops her name like she’s introducing her.

Overall, not my fave and now considering abandoning the series.

"Object of my Addiction" is the 4th book in the Sweet Life in Settle series by Andrea Simonne.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this novel and seeing a little more of the characters from previous books.
I don't want to give much away, so I'll just say a few words about this book.
Our FMC is Tori. She's the sister of a previous MMC in the series. She's someone who works hard, loves her friends and animals, and was taught by her mother that the police were to be avoided at all costs.
The MMC is Liam. Liam had a huge crush on Tori in high school, but an incident at Homecoming made enemies between their families.
When Tori's can is stolen from one of her jobs, Liam just happens to be there, and as a federal agent, he helps her navigate through the police questions.
Liam still finds Tori attractive and would love to get to know her, but Tori knows she can't get involved with an FBI agent and that their families hate each other. It's too bad that he might be the one she has been looking for.

I'll say it again. I love this series. The cover art may be misleading. This book is much spicier than it depicts. Tori has been the stable force that supports all her friends in the series. She works several jobs and cares for her mother suffering from alcohol dependence. She and Liam have an unpleasant history from high school but when they meet again, she doesn't like it but finds him attractive. He has always had a crush on her. Circumstances lead to a second chance type of romance that sizzles. There's angst that threatens to tear them apart and hurdles to work through. I love the epilogues that allow readers to get a forward glimpse of the characters!

A second chance for them

After their misunderstanding in high school, these two are reunited later in life. And they get thrown together thanks to the dog, Miss fancy pants. Their feelings were there when they were younger and remain even through the misunderstanding at homecoming.

Eventually everything comes out in the open and she realizes the truth and all the family eventually comes around to them as a couple.

This was a fun read all around and I liked the epilogue where they really tied everything up for the couple and the extra characters. I'm looking forward to Brody's book next.

This is the fourth book I have read in this series and the best so far. Tori Church is a quirky animal lover with four jobs and spending way too much of her time cleaning up after her alcoholic mother. Liam is a strait-laced FBI agent. They had a misunderstanding years ago in high school and he is her sworn enemy. He hires her to take care of his dog, and she realizes she may have misjudged him. We revisit characters from past stories as well as meet new ones. Once again, a well-crafted story with a satisfying ending.

Nice!

Love the menagerie of animals just as much as Liam and Tori!
Tori was frustrating near the end but saw the error of her ways, since they’d been ingrained since childhood. Liam is wonderful. Lori is not at all likeable as Tori and Roads mum, I don’t agree with anything she has done or keeps doing.
Great little wrap up of other characters in the epilogue.
Looking forward to Brody’s story now.

3de persoon.

4th book in the series and what a brilliant read, again I couldn't put it down. At times I felt angry at Tori cos it was as though she enjoyed playing a martyr and all those years believing her dad was dead only to find out her mom had lied to her and Road. A great and fitting ending to a thoroughly enjoyable series of books.

Perfect second chance

After a horrible accident in high school, everyone hates everyone else. Or at least that’s how it seems. These two have a lot to get past on their own, not to mention getting their families on track as well. I love all the characters and loved hearing updates on everyone from past books. I’m looking forward to more books though!

Some things are meant to be.

What a cute sweet story of young love gone wrong and what happens if it is really meant to be. Tori and Liam’s story starts in high school ..a story that goes bad…but years later proves to each other that they have always been the only one for each other. Such a sweet story of love and acceptance.

Good, not stellar

I have enjoyed this series, but I didn’t care for the way Tori was depicted. I think you can be idealistic and whimsical without being flaky. Overall I eould rate this 3.5. Simonne is a gifted writer and story teller. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Super cute romcom

Liam and Tori have one of the cutest and sweetest story I’ve read in a while. Both couldn’t be more opposite but they attract like magnets. Even though their possibility of being high school sweethearts was truncated by a misconception, they got their second chance giving us a sweet, funny, sexy and full of fuzzy creatures story.

Tori is speeding through life with all these commitments. She thinks she found the special person of her life. Tori is always caring for other people's needs before her own. Enter a blast from the past, misconstrued events, dogs, and hea

4 stars for Object of My Addiction (Sweet Life in Seattle Book 4). Tori sees the best in everyone, loves animals and is a little on the quirky side. Liam is a serious, by the book, FBI agent. Let the fun begin!

4th book in the series, this is the story of animal lover Tori and FBI agent Liam. They have a history from high school and this reads a bit like an adult version of an after school special with a lot of lessons.

This book was good I thought Tori and Liam were a good couple and I could feel the love coming off the pages. It just felt like there was a lot of filler, and I like more angst in my books, but it was still good

Great story , but...

The FMC is almost unbearable, she's beyond childish. I guess it's explained why she's like this further in the book. However I was annoyed to no end by her. Story line was great though.

His brown eyes have become her happy place. So rich and warm. Every time she looks into them, she knows she’s finally found him. Her special person. The one. "I hit a home run with you," he whispers.

Better than others

I liked this story better than the others by this author. I'm still bothered by the verb tenses she uses but the story lines are good.
