The Hounds #3

The Piece You Saved

Rate this book
I’ve lost so many pieces of myself to count.

Too many.

All my life, I believed I wasn’t just damaged but broken beyond repair. Too weak to do anything but survive.

Until the monster who made every day a hell on Earth found a new way to strike back at me.

There are some pieces of myself I’ve lost and will never find again. There are others I will fight to my dying breath to save, because I may be damaged and scarred, but I am not broken.

Aden, Kade, and Dariel saved me. Now it’s my turn to save them.

It’s time for my monster to die.

THE PIECE YOU SAVED is the final book in The Hounds Series. It is intended for mature readers.

first book was good, but everything felt stretched out

This series felt stretched out, all three books should’ve been one book and then we could’ve had more character development

The heroine seemed to be completely stuck for all three books…

Overall a mediocre read

HEA

This was a journey. Saige has been through so much in this series and I was so happy to see her find her way to happiness. There were a few close calls for the guys but Aden, Kade and Dariel pushed through. The guys had their own demons to exorcise all while trying to adjust to the change in their relationship dynamic with Saige simply because the Hounds were fine when it was just the 4 of them but things changed in this past book that caused some tension and angst within the harem.

I think the best part of this book was seeing Rylan finally get his and at Saige's hand. There were a few plot twists and elements of found family but through it all Saige and her guys found their way to a well deserved HEA.

Such a happy ending for 5 broken people 7 if you count the cop and waitress ❤️ I love the emotional roller coaster this series sends you through. The brokenness the love that shines brighter it’s everything!

Ummm…

I enjoyed the series but I wouldn’t call it a RH. It was more like a spades games. 2 and 2 possibles with one of those 2 being her main. I think not adding H and D to the “RH” until the end of the book so there was no expanding or growth to their individual or pack relationship really hurt this book. And SN: why wouldn’t you let us see her actually try the sandwich when not depressed or D the cocoa?! Like come on!

Just finished this trilogy and it’s fresh in my head. Years from now I will probably still remember this book and those characters. The emotions this one pulled out of me.. whew 😭🥹🥰 I love it! I was in a reading slump and this for sure pulled me out of it.

It was so fantastic, the way it all came together in the end, I have no questions left about any of the characters, I have no disappointments in the storyline or the happy ending. It was literally everything. And the characters they were awesome, Saige despite everything conquering her own monster and continuing to live on day after day despite the horrors she cried, each and everyone of them and the things they loved through they truly are a pack and a family and the way it never glossed over that and how they each just accepted one another not trying to fix each other but just accepting their darkest pieces and loving their pack, their family anyway it was breathtaking to read. And the villainy vibes of Rylan and those two cops I don’t think I’ve ever hated characters so much so kudos to you, made me wanna read through the book and strangle them myself. It was just such a natural raw, vulnerable, and real read with things that truly happen in everyday life and yet they came even stronger. Plus the true life lessons in it and that though monsters as in shifters ain’t all evil some are just as not all humans are either. And dear Simon who really taught that lesson who was true goodness through and through.

All in all it was a masterpiece. 10/10, hell 100/10 I loved every single page of this. I mostly use kindle unlimited to read to my hearts content and if I love a book so much that I’d like to read it again I decide to buy them so I can have them to do just that and cherish until I’m old and grey and there’s no doubt in my mind that these made that list. I’ve no words left other than I love this author for writing these books and it was so worth the time i took to read them. 🙏🏻❤️🙌🏻

Good

I liked the series as the characters were well developed. The relationships weren't instant love with characters immediately hopping into bed, which I appreciate. The series is paced well.

I didn't give the series 5 stars for a few reasons:

1. How did Rylan get so many wolves to be cruel and blindly follow his evil? I could see a few, but over 20? All of them rich? It was a bit unrealistic. I could see him being an alpha that forced pack to do bad things, but these wolves were as evil as him.

2. Harley...I thought that was a bit weird. That relationship came really late in the game and felt out of place to me. I liked his character, but I didn't really care for how and when he became a harem prospect.

3. I didn't like the police bashing. I get that there are bad police officers, but the author portrayed almost all police as bad. Basically, there was only one good officer. If the author had portrayed the bad officers as an exception I would have been ok with it. I think there is way too much police bashing in the world right now. There is bad in every profession and we don't judge the entire profession for the few bad apples. I wish the author hadn't done that in this series.

Overall, the story is interesting and worth reading.

Incredible series that is a keeper.

Can’t get over it’s the end 😢

Marleigh Kassidy, The Hounds series is my first series I’ve ever by you and I can’t put into words how much your series has meant to me. I think you have brought out one of the best, unique and inspiring shifter romance series I’ve ever read. Not only did you create a modern world of shifters living with humans like everyday people. But keeping it simple with things like mates etc

Sometimes you just want something refreshing, entertaining, addicting and different. Not only did this series give you that and more, a lot of twists and surprises that will have you entertained and excited. It’s full of a dark and cruel world but with a light at the end.
A journey of chaos, mayhem and love.

I’m not usually a lover of characters especially the FMC having such a tragic and traumatic past. But the way Marleigh written her. She still created a strong character and I think she made this story.

As long as you have no triggers and love anything shifter, want to be invested in a story, captivated by a modern day world with plenty of twists. Surprises and a happy ever after then I highly recommend you start book 1 today.

This book does a lot of telling, but no showing. They TELL us how close The Hounds were, but never really show anything beyond them being at odds or, at best, a hair’s breadth away from killing one another. They TELL us they love Saige and vise versa, but very little relationship development is shown. They TELL us The Hounds are protectors, but beyond trying to protect Saige we don’t see them protecting anyone else. It is hard to connect with Saige throughout the series. She’s fairly weak-says she wants to help but honestly brings nothing to the table. Even if the author wrote it so she can calm their wolves-but she can’t even do that. Saige is also very ‘woe is me’-virtually no character building. It’s hard to even feel bad for her as what was done to her is mostly skimmed over. Same with the Hounds’ pasts. AND ALL THE SECRETS. None of them trusted the other and were all keeping vital information for essentially no good reason. It was infuriating. These were not good, strong relationships. And the “non human” part of Saige that keeps getting referenced? Nothing important. Just so badly written. Don’t recommend the series.

RH no mm
Shifters

I liked the first book in this series, and I thought it would be a great little series.
Mostly, it was pretty good. The author didn't shy away from the nasty things that happened to Saige while she was being kept captive.

I think some of the placements of events hurt it, though. A lot of the major developments happened sqished together in the 3rd book, so it felt like none of the resolutions really got the time they deserved. Also I felt like saiges special-ness felt a little flat since nothing ce of it, I was waiting for her to get a little power, maybe turn out to be one of the other guys mates (probably Kade, though I would of preferred Harley, since it would of made the pull make more sense)

It's quite hard to make a RH that doesn't have a little favouritism towards one of the guys, and it felt like Kade was definitely the favourite here.

The Happy Five

It was interesting to see how Harley works his way into Saige's life after the struggles our girl faces. The cliff hanger leaves off with the fear of losing Aden, who is part of Saiges growing loves. Discovering Saige's history and how it ties in with the obsessive man she mistakenly took for her mate and savior comes falling into their place. Add in some important backstory of her four men as they come together with determination to keep her safe, and this is a strong build up for a tale coming to a close.

I really enjoyed how this all came to an end, knowing more about every person that became a part of Saige's life and how she starts to heal from all her trauma is wonderful. Looking forward to more written adventures and dark twists from this author

What a way to wrap up a series. I enjoyed this entire thing. You get sucked in right away, heartbroken for Saige and everything she endured. A big surprise that I didn’t see coming too! But it was a good one. All three books are 5-star reading. All the characters have well defined stories and how they merge from their individual traumas and heartache to become The hounds makes you cheer for them as they become important to Saige.
I actually set a reminder so I could get this last book as soon as I sat down for coffee this morning. One of those stories that is hard to let go, you just sit and take a breath knowing it’s time to close the book and let them go.

For me personally I didn't much care for this trilogy. I liked the first book but by the second the fmc was dragging the series down for me. For someone who had been through everything she had it seemed as though she didn't really try anymore like I get the "pack" broke her but she still could of tried to train her body. She also acted majorly immature and just to stubborn. Another thing it felt as though her being "special"(trying to keep from this being a spoiler) was just a side plot and didn't really contribute anything to the story like it could of been better If they had made it the main plot. Idk it just wasn't my cup of tea so I'd rate it a 2.5 stars.

After reading all three books I think this would work better as two books.
It didn’t feel like a shifter book to me even though obviously they were wolves but the world building lacked the “fantasy” aspect.
Without spoilers I wished the fmc genetics shall we say were a little more involved through the books and maybe be something more?? Like have a little power of affinity to the gardens ect. Felt like an afterthought.

It was an enjoyable series just too spread out.
RH but felt as though she was really only in a relationship with just one/two guys. I don’t think the added guy at the end was really necessary-should have been involved in the first two books more.

it was, just okay

I really liked the first two books. But this seemed rushed. Also adding in Harley into the mix was weird. I get he wanted revenge, but the author turned it into a love thing and it was weird. I don’t know, I just wasn’t into it. I’m glad she finally got closer to Dariel but it never shows she actually forgave him, or at least said those words aloud to him. And I definitely don’t like the way it ended. You draw out 2 books and all of a sudden book three is over and done with little detail. I feel like they put their heart and soul into the first, then just wanted it to be done and quickly rushed to end this book and series.

I'm just going to review all three with one review here. It only makes sense because we don't really have three separate books here. We have one long story, that was randomly split up with cliffhangers into three. They weren't even evenly separated since the last book had almost double the pages of the other two.

I liked it...it was what it was. Please read the author's trigger warnings because there's a LOT of nastiness going on. I am pretty sure, a normal person would not have survived it.

I completely devoured this entire series in a weekend, and I am not ashamed… There were so many emotional ups and downs with this book and it just made it that much better. I do not regret, ignoring all of the things that I had to do this weekend in order to read this series… I’m just sad that I will never be able to read this series for the first time all over again. Also, not fair….that last chapter with S’s parentals had me bawling💔 … I wouldn’t mind getting to see more of them in the future…Also, I love the HFN for Sam 💖

Good end to a great series

Really worth the read, and would recommend to a friend

I love how everyone is able to come together at the end with a 5 person pack filled with all the gooey love they deserve

The reason for the four star is just the gooey happy life ending - it is just so not realistic, and it just bothers me when authors do this - I like a HEA that isn’t like a corny teenage English lesson amateur story ending - other than that, really enjoyable read

This series was unbelievably beautiful!!! I have never read anything so heartfelt and intriguing before, and I have read hundreds of books. The twists and turns hard me laughing and crying with my heart in my throat to many times to count. Read this series you won’t be disappointed, I promise you that. The author is an amazing writer and I can’t wait to read more of her art because that is what her books are, art.

What an ending. Saige's inner strength has always been there. She wouldn't have survived all she has otherwise. Her selfless need to protect others & offer herself up instead was gutwrenching. I really enjoyed this series & the way they all came together. The characters were well written & I doubt I could choose between the 4 protective men either though Aden & Kade had a tiny edge over the Dariel & Harley for me but only tiny lol.

Fantastic

Wow! Such an amazing story and a great ending. I devoured the series in three days and loved every second. The story progressed naturally and I loved each character’s personality. My only critique would be I felt Hayden deserved more of a role in the series then he got. Otherwise, it was a great story!

Such a good series!

The ending talking about Simon made me bawl like a baby. My heart still hurts over that. I loved watching Saige and the men grow together. I loved that she was the missing link to help heal. I love that even though she thought she could be broken, she was fierce. So good!

I love this series!

This is a perfect last of series book. There’s tons of action, character development, and it wraps up all the missing pieces. It’s still dark, like the rest of the series, but a hopeful kind, if that makes any sense. The FMC really comes into her own strength, and the MMCs are all supportive and not perfect but perfect for her.

Dark but beautifully done 4.5 stars

Heed the trigger warnings -the author writes a lot about her trauma. Her trauma isn’t implied , it’s a big part of the book. It is well done and I could not stop reading from one book to another. There are many parts to this story that are left unresolved . I wouldn’t have minded a book 4 talking more about their pack and more world .

Dang

See she was stronger than she thought! Also a new ML came in shocked but excited. Now her family is coming together perfectly. Also some of the secrets we learn is impressive. So of the deaths are shocking but seems deserving! And that ending 100% flawless. Loved every minute of these books.

From the beginning to the end I was hooked. Saige suffered the traumatic experiences that had been her life for many years and now she found a new home for herself with these men who have been there for her every single time. The emotional connection between them is extraordinary. I can’t believe this is the end I’m going to miss them

Hooks you in from the beginning

I honestly wasn't sure how I would feel about this series. But I'm so happy I read it!
It drew me in to the point I couldn't stop reading it and thinking about what came next when I did have to stop.
I fell in love with the guys and Saige. The strength and support they have for each other just hooks into your heart.

I skim read the entire book just to see what awesomeness saige might throw out with her 'non-humanness': it doesn't happen. In fact, she still refers to herself as human after she finds out about what she is and still is just ol' plain Jane. I'm just glad that I've finished the series now so i can atleast get some form of closure as to what happens 😅

Good book

I enjoyed it. It gave me some anxiety a few times but I’m glad they tied all together. Including a proper ending for Simon the doctor who helped Saige in the beginning. Glad I got to read the series.

Brilliant series

Great ending for a great series. Story can be dark in some places but the three books show the journey for the main female character who has been through so much and the shifters who help her as much as she helps them
