As a teen, I couldn't get enough of Lynne Ewing's books, I counted down the days until they came to the store. Even as an adult, I return to them from time to time to feel that joy I once felt. Out of the Sons books, I enjoyed Kyle's character the most, probably because he first was tied into the Daughters series. As I reread this again, I did see some plot holes, and my only thing was I just wish we had more of the Sons stories like we did the Daughters.

This book was back to just being okay. I thought for a while there that this author was getting better at what she was doing, but I guess not. I guess only some characters are capable of any semblance of intelligence and usually only for one book rather than a continuous thing.

Kyle was an idiot for not confessing things sooner to his friends, and he was an idiot for trying to pursue a relationship with a girl he would only end up killing if he got close enough to her, and he even knew that she'd already been with one of his kind previously, and she'd almost died for it. WTF?

Also, why couldn't Kyle just be like, "Hey, people. I have a twin brother who is a real jerk, so just be aware and watch out for him because he may do some messed up stuff now and again." Instead, he just went with it and pretended he'd done all of that stuff. I can understand the audition thing, but the stupid stuff like going with the flirtations and douche-bag things that Kent was doing were things he should have made others aware were happening instead of saying they were all his doing.

Also, Emily is an idiot. She should have stayed away from Kyle after all of the run-around she was getting with him. Ugh... I'm so glad I only have two books left in this series.

Probably my favorite book out of the series so far. From the very beginning, it had me hooked. Kyle's projection of his inner loneliness is what we all seek to find, to cover up that hole we all feel from time to time. It will be interesting to see how much Kyle's powers have grown and if he has entirely mastered them in the last book. The emergence of one of the "Goddesses of the Moon" happened much later in the series than I thought it would. With the conclusion just one book away and Berto being the last 'Son of the Dark' we have yet to explore, it seems very likely the story can only finish within the 'Goddesses of the Moon' series. I'm curious to see if their destinies will prevail or if it will end on a cliffhanger. Only time will tell if this will be a dream or a nightmare for a reader.

I found a very good book by Lynne Ewing. The name of this book is Outcast. It took me about three days to read this book and it started to be interesting in about the first chapter. The Sons of the dark is a series so I suggest you read the first and second book. They are as good as well. I would rate this book a ten,no doubt about it.
In this book the protagonist is Kyle. He has magical powers which gives him the ability to make objects that he can imagine . An example from the book is where he's at his bed and he thinks about a bird and it appeared. What I thought was interesting was that without even knowing at a small age he made up a mom and a brother. His mom had left him with his aunt and Kyle never had a brother. Kyle had a lot of love inside of him that he created his own family. The conflict was if Kyle's heart stopped beating his brother Kent's heart would start beating. This meant that if Kyle dies then Kent would be a real human, and if he came to life then he would want to use his powers for something bad.
This book is basically about a quest that Kyle,Berto,Obie and Samuel have to find the black diamond which gave enough power to give the wielder the power to rule the world.
I was confused when strange things were happening to Kyle. They didn't really say what was happening or who was doing these strange things. At the end it ended up being his twin brother that he had made when he was little. Kent looked exactly like Kyle so it would be confusing to know who's Kyle and who's Kent.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are interesting because they all have a unique power. The genre of the book is magical fantasy and it gives you a clear image of everything that's happening. An example is when Kyle goes to a party with Emily and it seems that you are one of the characters in the party.
Outcast is one of the best books I ever read. I highly recommend that you read this book and read the whole sons of the dark series. I will guarantee that you will enjoy this series.

Kyle, one of the Sons of the Dark is feeling like he is losing touch with reallity. The reason for this is because his roomates and other people are spreading rumors about things he can't even remember doing. And Kyle can't understand why he is hearing all these things if he is not the one doing all the things they say. When he finally finds out who is behind it he can't believe what he sees. The truth is that he had an imagenary friend back in his childhood days that used to get him into trouble a lot but it also helped him through rough patches. Kyle sees this person agian only he is real and in flesh that looks like him. The clone of him starts making trouble for him, and then he says to himself this has got to end. Kyle goes on a search for a way to get rid of him. And when he finally succeeds he finds out that one of his childhood homes was all an illusion along with the person who cared about him the most. After that explosive day they go back to their lives with a missing peace of Kyle's past and future.

This is the third installment of the Sons of the Dark series titled Outcast. This books is told from Kyle's point of view. He knows his roommates hate it when he tells them what to do, but he's the only one who is from the modern-day L.A. and he is the only only one that has a clue on what is going on with people turning up missing, and on how to blend in. In this story, we find out what Kyle's power is, and that power actually comes back to turn his life upside down as people are accusing him of betrayal. That he is being haunted by someone or something from his unforgettable childhood. I would recommend this book to anyone who reads the first two books and anyone who likes the supernatural.

I've read the entire series of the Daughters of the Moon by Lynne Ewing also. That series is much better than this series. I chose to read the Sons of the Darks books because I was told that they linked up to the Daughters of the Moon series. I am looking forward to finishing the 4th book of the series and the last book of the Daughters of the Moon series. I am disappointed because I will not be able to read the rest of these series until I return home from our long road trip this summer. These books leave you on cliffhangers!

I think the book The outcast was very interesting and diffrent from other book. It is about a boy named kyle and his three friends. They are all from a diffrent world and they escaped to our world. In kyle's chilhood he was a lonley boy. when he grows up his mom tells him he had a twin brother that is evil and he tried to kill him. He finds him and trys to kill his brother named kent but when he does his brother and mother just dissapear. They where both imaginary but yet very real. He created them when he was a little lonley boy.

This is my favorite of the three that I have read so far. It felt like a more fast pace than the other two and also I felt like as a reader I felt for Kyle. There was still some problems. It was very jumpy. I was so confused sometimes when it would be one scene and then a paragraph later it was another scene. Also the Four would be talking about something like the reader already knows what they are say and the reader has no clue. I would recommend this for fantasy lovers.

So-so. I think a lot of Lynne Ewings books I read because they're short, quick, easy and kind of nice when you're bored. But I finally realized that the Sons of Dark Series is connected to Daughters of the Moon. (Hint: you prolly should've started with Daughter's of the Moon) :)

I liked Sons of the dark and thought the story was very mythological. i also liked how they made each character from a different time era and made them seem like normal teens but actually are demon slaves part of a prophecy. I recommend this to anyone who likes mythological and adventure.Within the four book series Sons of the Dark by lynne ewing Is a story about four boys from different timelines who were slaves and chosen ones of a prophecy to destroy the rulers of a dimension called nefandous. As the these four escape they are hunted down by their owners and multiple hunters to return them back to nefandous and to stop their destiny to stop nefandous from taking over earth. In the beginning of the story Kyle believed what others said about him mostly as a child and this caused him to stop being able to use his ability to create anything out of nothing and as he gets older forgets he even could. Once he begins to have events he can’t recall happen he finds out his fake brother did it. Getting kyle the girl he likes in school to go out with him and a spot in a play he wanted just to make him seem trusting. Kyle eventually he realises that he has the ability and finds out his brother’s real intentions that he is trying to kill kyle so that he can be alive and not just one of kyle’s creations. Kyle was able to overcome what he was always told he couldn’t or was not able to do and that he did fit in with the others and that he might be able to actually use his ability.
