Easy to digest but painfully millennial and kind of belittling

OMG! This book! I’ve always struggled with sticking to a budget and managing my money in a healthy way. I’m a huge shopaholic and often wouldn’t save money but after reading this book I feel like I have a lot of knowledge and insight into why we should save money and how a budget doesn’t have to be a boring tight budget or anything bad like that!

We can still do things we enjoy! I absolutely love Molly’s informative chapters and how she lists the key points at the end of each chapter with tick boxes so that you can work these key points into your life with your friends and or partner.

I’d recommend anyone who struggles with the basics of money issues to read this book and follow her guidelines or anyone who is thinking of starting their own business. It’s informative, easy to follow and the way she writes just flows and makes saving sound fun!

Despite the slightly questionable subtitle, this was surprisingly informative, albeit more applicable to Australian readers (not me). I really liked that the author covered topics such as teaching kids healthy money habits, mindsets around money, financial abuse, prenups, as well as how to ask for a pay rise. Particularly the latter of those aforementioned, as women are far less likely than men to ask for one. Money is an important topic, especially for women and feminists, so the discussion/activity prompts at the end of the chapters were also a nice, refreshing touch. Overall, it was alright.

For AUSTRALIANS - This book is decent if you are an Aussie. Otherwise skip it. It does share some valuable insights here and there but nothing that is substantial if you are already taking care of your personal finances. It does have a girl approach to finance feel throughout the book where the author says things like “cheers with a bubbly and yay, well done you” a million times. If you want a really girly approach to personal finances then this is your book. To me all that additional fluff was simply distracting and I could not take the book serious enough bc I felt like I read a book Barbie wrote on personal finances.
