I actually found this book after the second in the series came up as a recommendation and honestly I wish I had started with that book instead. This one just didn't do it for me and now I'm not sure I'll ever go to the second one even though it's the blurb that originally interested me.
But the writing in this story just didn't do it for me and I wasn't captivated at all. It felt rushed and information was thrown out like it wasn't important so then it seemed undeveloped. Even with the story already feeling so rushed it had me wanting to skim just to get to the end after I quickly got bored with the character. They didn't have much depth either and there was very little development from either of them. It actually didn't even feel like a shifter book and that part of it wasn't explained very well in my opinion.
MC is a selfish ass with immature actions for a good portion of the book. He gets better as we get to the end. Although I had a hard time accepting a strong woman like Mila would be interested in him.
I don't know what I was expecting but, "..her cockiness and willingness to dance with Death made his loins tingle." ~ was just not it. I right about lost it there and this was chapter one. DNF (will probably go back and try reading this again sometime in the future, so leaving it unrated) (can't get past tingling loins atm👀)
DNF. I'll be frank. Any female character that's being introduced with the many varied and creatively written forms of overly repetitive FGM, is not a character I care about or want to read anymore. Mila is introduced with "Yet, even at twenty-five years of age, Mila had never let a man have her body. Have control of her. It wasn’t that she didn’t like men, or find them attractive, she’d just never found a man who drove her to that point of wanton desire." While Ryel is a hoe. His entire introduction is about how much of a hoe he is, nothing else. I'm not reading that bullshit again. It's been done, OVERDONE infact and it's just boring. I already know what this book is, beginning, middle and end. I'm no longer wasting brain cells if I can help it.
DNF 25 year old female virigin and a manhoe boy who is supposed to be an Alpha. Very underdeveloped characters and not much of a storyline.
Ryel ran away from his pack after his father died. He spent his time sleeping around with different women. Mila smart and attractive virgin comes back to her pack. Ryel is a bully and acts like a teenager who is upset with his mom constantly. Ryel calls Mila a bitch every chance he gets and everyone around him is "ohhh you really like her". Yeah no....DNF
The alpha male was no alpha. He was weak minded and knew nothing of werewolf behavior. The character ruined the entire story for me. He was to pathetic Huge disappointment
This was so shallow I didn't enjoy this at all. It was short. I didn't like the main characters at all... He was a shallow womanizing man. She was..wow I don't know . So he picked on her for being a nerd ,she moved ,comes back ...you guessed it a bombshell. Don't they always ? He ran away from anything hard, was in city sleeping with any woman he wanted and from sound of it to shallow to be clear with woman and hurt a lot of them. So comes home and the nerd is stunning. Of course he can't stop thinking about her...skip some stuff that happened ..enter last woman he slept with and couldn't tell her he wasn't in a relationship with her but that's ok she's a con artist...😒 So it went from main girl saying she didn't like him because of his treatment of her as kid and cause of how he uses woman and him from I hate her but oh my can't get over her hot body..to falling in bed then in relationship This had no depth and was shallow. Nothing was fleshed out ..I was bored
Should’ve read the reviews first. Definitely not a enemies to lovers, first part was decent with the teasing but got worse as the book went on. As soon as they got to gather very quickly the book was shit. Reminded me of 8 year olds writing style. And the fun of ooo let’s write a sex scene several times. Total let down. Like the previous comments I too was intrigued but the 2nd book but definitely do plan to read it anymore now that I know what to suspect. I got down to the last twenty pages and just started skimming it so I could get down faster since I already wasted my time reading most of the book hoping it would get better.
99999999999999999999999999999% do not recommend this book. Run as far as you can. My five year old son can write a better book than this!
I’m going to be completely honest I think this was a rushed mess of a story. It had a lot of potential but it fell apart so quickly under all the information the author was trying to convey. It all came about so unnaturally it left a bad taste in my mouth. From the rushed pacing to the half baked romance to the distasteful way the almost sexual assault of the female lead was used as a romance plot point. I cannot recommend this even as a fun joke read.
I can only wish the author the best and hope that their other stories aren’t this bad.
I really tried to get into this story but it was painful. Sounds like something a 13 year old wrote 😬. Also the “alpha” read like he was 15, staying at his mom’s, wanting to hide under the covers at his big age (25). Didn’t quite give the feel of a shifter novel either. Underdeveloped characters, no world building. If you’re in junior high then this might be a somewhat decent read. Maybe the author should take a few writing classes or read some books on writing because the idea is there, just that the rest needs work.
Ryel and Mila come home on the same day and immediately start the verbal attacks reminiscent of their childhood, seriously grow up and get a clue.
Alpha Wolf is basically about adults acting like they are still in school instead of adults. Ryel, the man whore, is hot for Mila and acts like a middle schooler being mean to the girl he likes instead as a man hot for his mate. I am not sure Mila is any better when she goads him for a reaction. I think the best part of the whole story was the first chapter and the main characters on the motorcycles even though it does prove my point about Mila. From there I got bored out of my mind and skipped a few chapters where things picked up starting with the Alpha challenge.
There were a few edits but not enough to hinder the story line they way the boring parts did. The thing is about the boring parts of any book is that you can always pick a story again and find those boring parts riveting and that actually works the other way as well in a book where the riveting parts are boring on the next reading. So, this brings me to my rating and there is always a chance that I could read Alpha Wolf again in the future and have a very different reaction to it and there in lies my problem because I feel like I can see myself reading this story again and I feel like my rating should reflect this potential. I think 3-stars will be a safe choice for now because it leaves it open for me to read again later and adjust based on my open on the next potential reading.
a good plot but choppy writing does not make a good book
I really tried to wait until the end of the book to review it, but it was clear from the first few pages that I probably wouldn’t make it to the end. I know that means I could potentially be missing out on a great story, but it’s hard to read a book thats choppy.
The characters personalities and feelings shift so fast it would give you whip lash. The FMC & MC are both filled with lust for each other but are beyond confrontational for no reason. Then, after being confrontrational with each other the FMC starts crying & the MC becomes guilty. The character backstories don’t explain this behavior so it feels so choppy and random. And don’t get me wrong I love bada$$ FMC who try to take on tbe alphaholes, but onsight rivalaries don’t always help establish bada$$ behavior and in this case it really hurt the story.
Now the plot was interesting and I wanted to read more, but the author introduced too much information too fast. She tried to unpack the history of the town, the beef between characters, the supernatural aspect, and the familial issues all at once and the result was overwheleming. The information overload made the writing seem choppy and lacking of fluidity.
This was a sweet but short romance novel with some sexy hot scenes. Although it was an enjoyable enough read, there needs to be more character and story building/development. This was more of a tell than a show. I found the character interactions to be bland as there was no real emotions behind them. It was just this happened, this was how I reacted, and I need to fix this, and I fixed this or that. The alpha was an arse but a redeemable one. The FMC was all right. As I've said, there was a lot missing in the book.
The length of this novel was that of a novella. I dislike when authors label very short books as "novels". To me that's false advertising. I can appreciate it if an author labels the series as a "Novella series". At least to me, I know I'm looking at reading a book that's roughly 100 pages give or take, not expecting a 200 or more page " novel".
Overall, it was okay. Not much excitement, action, adventure, etc....but I do appreciate the time and dedication the author put into writing this and sharing it with readers. That cover though, is very captivating.
I gave it two stars because I still wanted to get to the end somehow.
I am no writer but as a reader I found a few lags in the story, there were also brilliant patches in it that felt like could have been prolonged.
Well, the character name repetition felt tiring to read, the book itself was not bad but the romantic scenes were just too pedestrian for me, the beautiful love the writer was building upon felt cheapened by the words used when it all came to culmination... made it feel like pornography at some point.
I still did finish the book though. That says something alright. I feel sad that I will not be reading the next.
So if you are planning on reading it, I would suggest you do and form your own opinion.
It had potential and even started off well but it fell a little short. There was a curveball thrown when the H and h started to progress in their relationship but it contributed practically nothing to the story, shifted focus away from the emotional progress of the characters and in fact added to the emotional drama that was never really addressed so the conclusion didn't feel like a conclusion. I think the story would have benefited from a few extra chapters FINISHING the emotional development and evolution of the characters.
If you want a quick read this could work but I wouldn't actually recommend it as it felt incomplete.
I this spin off of an enemies to lovers werewolf mates romance! I loved the hot alpha male and i lover her strong female character! I think this might be my first read from this author cause it's rare that i read the bulk books that come all together for some reason. I think ahe has ax few of those series. I give 5 stars cause it was a good read that kept me hooked and intrigued throughout the whole story. After reading this i'll go check out what else this author has to offer.
Better together What a fantastic storyline! I enjoyed the second chance at love, and the underlying feelings these two have been harboring for each other. I loved the mom since she tells it like it is, and Mila is a strong sassy gal, sometimes over the top, who knows who she is and is comfortable with it. I wasn’t overly fond of Ryle though. He’s not very alphay, he runs from his problems, is a womanizer, has a temper, and is a little too criey for my tastes. Overall this was a good read, and I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next with this pack.
Alpha Wolf is a steamy enemies-to-lovers shifter romance packed with tension, passion, and revenge. Once bullied and humiliated by the future alpha, the heroine has returned stronger and determined to make him pay. But when sparks fly between them, their fiery history turns into undeniable attraction. As past wounds clash with new desires, she must decide whether to guard her heart or risk it all for the alpha who once broke it. Perfect for fans of sizzling chemistry, pack drama, and second-chance romance.
Loved it hit sweet sexy .. He almost lost the best thing that happen to him , he is lucky she forgave him , listen to him and helped him .. He was rude to her from the time they were little and that didn't change when they got older ..what happened at the end of the boom was his own fault that's what happens when you sleep with anyone with 2 legs .. He's lucky she listened to him and helped him
Cute story. Needs more editing though. The timeline seems a bit off somehow. I wish there was a little more to the story such as in the weeks he takes care of Milah maybe we can see how they interact now that they have kissed and he seems to realize he loves her. The author skipped completely over that and I feel we’re missing vital information because of it. I did enjoy the story though.
It wasn't what I expected it to be, but it was an okay story. Some parts were slow moving, and it didn't really get good until about half way through it. This is a book I recommend you read for yourself and not pay attention to reviews if you like shifter books. It's not your typical shifter romance, and it might appeal to others more than it did to me.
I could only read a few chapters and I was rolling my eyes. A wolf falls and hits her head but nearly dies and needs looked after for weeks? The alpha crying over that when it was just a bang to the head? It either a really young author or a really bad one. Over dramatised and doesn’t really feel like a wolf book
