15 books31 followersUwe Tellkamp is a German writer and physician. He practised medicine until 2004. Before the fall of communism, he was enlisted in the National People's Army as a tank commander and imprisoned when he refused to break up a demonstration in October 1989. Until the fall of the German Democratic Republic shortly after, he was prohibited from studying medicine.
In 2008 Tellkamp was awarded the German Book Prize for his novel Der Turm (The Tower), which describes life in 1980s East Germany.

Nach 123 Seiten ist es mir nun endgültig genug mit diesem mit bildungsbürderlichen Inhalten überfrachtetem und künstlich und völlig unnötig in, wohl zum Zwecke anspruchvoll zu erscheinen, schwer verständlicher Sprache verfasstem Geschwurbel.
Dass auf Anführungszeichen verzichtet wurde, Satzzeichen nur sporadisch verwendet werden und es nahezu keine Umbrüche im Text gibt trägt auch nicht gerade zur Lesbarkeit bei.
Schade! Der Plot klang vielversprechend, aber die Umsetzung ist überraschend langweilig.
Uwe Tellkamp und ich kommen (zumindest in diesem Roman) nicht zusammen.

After 123 pages, I've finally had enough of this slipslop, overloaded with educational content and written in an completely unnecessary complicated and difficult language, probably with the purpose of appearing demanding.
The fact that there are no quotation marks, punctuation marks are only used sporadically and there are almost no breaks in the text does not exactly contribute to readability.
What a pity! The plot sounded promising, but the execution is surprisingly boring.
Uwe Tellkamp and I (at least in this novel) do not get together.

Schwierig zu lesen! Tellkamp erhielt 2004 den Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis.
