A charming introduction to ten of baby's best-loved animals, featuring high contrast black-and-white illustrations. A glittering burst of colored foil brings a vivid splash of color to every page. With first words to join in with, this stunning book will captivate sparkly little babies everywhere!
Babies and toddlers will love to meet the adorable animals in this engaging book! Little hands can turn the sturdy board pages to meet a host of cute characters, including a panda, a cow, a tiger, a zebra, a giraffe, a penguin, and more. Simple text introduces readers to a handful of first words, while the bold artwork features each animal in its natural environment. Rounded corners, high-contrast black-and-white illustrations, and a glittering burst of colored foil on every page make this an ideal choice for the youngest learners.

Perfect for one of baby's first books--darling black and white images with a little foil glimmer. My grandson still enjoys it at age one.
Note: His first copy was ruined when a bottle of milk spilled in a diaper bag. Upon checking Amazon for another copy, we learned it is only available used but is still available. He loves bugs, too! Bzzzzz....
The bold black and white images in this book are perfect for infants and young toddlers. The bright accents of color on each page invite children to touch the book and will keep their attention as you read. The simple, repetitive text encourages children to help you tell the story.
My child smiled and enjoyed the high contrast illustrations since he was 6 months old. There is hardly any text but the playful illustrations are so engaging. Even for me the adult reader, I have enjoyed exploring the subtlety needed to make effective and captivating thick lined illustrations with only three colors per image - black, white, and one metallic color. I love this book most of all because it made my son smile before I could ever figure out why he was so moved.
Cute book with high contrast images. Bought for my Nephew (5mos.) Would make up a new story every night since there are only about 3-4 words per page inthis. The foil accents really caught his attention - especially the red foil fish.
Pretty good art, which most black & white board books lack. Similar to God's Animals & God's Families black & white board books with the animals & colored metallic.
My 3 month old did enjoy, even though she has moved on a bit from the " whoa black and white" wide-eyed phase.
A black and white favorite here. Good book to prop up during tummy time. I also read it in French to my daughter, but half of the words are cognates so it's all the same to her!
Newborns are born without the ability to see clearly or color. Prior my son being born I read up on the need to have high contrast books for the first few months. So naturally, when he started to be awake more (vs. sleeping all the time due to being in NICU), this was the first books I read to him when I brought him home. You can see how his eyes are tracking the contrast. I also recommend looking at high contrast videos, and he liked that a lot as well.
As he grew a little older and grasping for things more, this book and "Look, Look!" are the books that I hand over to him and he can flip through himself. He learned how to turn the page with these books as it's nice and thick. I thought that was kind of cool to interact with my son by telling about what he's seeing. The words are SUPER short, but if you explain what the he's looking at such as, "The tiger has stripes to hide themselves away from prey", etc, it stretches out the story time. He learned how to turn the page at around 3 months.
The difference between Hello, Animals and Look, Look! is Hello, Animals! is much thicker, and my son can turn the page easier for some reason (even if both books are board books). This one also have some shiny areas on the pages.
This one is actually my husband's current favorite board book. The black and white illustrations have the required contrast to attract and hold a baby's gaze (yes, we have actually field tested this with our baby daughter) but the little colored foil bits add a bit of pizzaz that makes it seem a bit more fun than some of the other black and white books. Bolam frequently reverses the black and white foreground/background making the book lively. The gutter transitions are especially nice and show the forethought of continuing the lines that hit the gutter, even as they reverse color and change texture. The story is simple saying hello to each animal and repetitive with very very little arc (just ending with "Night-night, Leopard!") but the onomatopoeia (e.g. "sip, slurp" for the giraffe) is fun, especially with the alliteration.
This is a nice black and white book for very babies. Natalie didn't get all that excited about it when we read it at 19 months. The variety of animals was pretty average, but they all looked very nice in the black and white style. Another nice touch to this book is that each page as a color, foil section. It really adds something to how each page looks. Also, each animal has a sound written near its mouth, like its talking. So, I'd recommend it to newborns to enjoy the black and white contrast, and to older babies just learning their animals and sounds. Toddlers might like it if they are particularly into animals at the moment. Also would make an excellent book for a toddler or other early reader to share with a baby, since it doesn't need to be read, but can be.
It probably isn't fair that two "baby books" are counting toward my yearly goal...but considering I have read them both more than 200 times, I am going to count them! I LOVE this book! My son LOVES this book! Every baby under 12 months should own this book! A "must buy" for any/every baby shower! I love to give books as gifts...and this is perfect for our littlest readers! :)
These are my baby's favorite books so far. He loves the friendly animal faces, the splash of color, and the fun words that accompany the animal. I think the "crunch, munch" make it more exciting and fun for him as opposed to Look at the Animals.
This cool black and white board book will introduce your child to some very fun animals. Your little one will even learn all the different sounds they make. Shiny bits of vivid color will leave your child curiously wanting to touch and explore Hello Animals over and over again.
Excellent for baby's first book. Completely lacking in plot and I don't know why we say goodnight to the leopard and hello to everything else but my 3 month old son really enjoys the pictures, so FIVE stars!
