Ssssssssshhhhhhh...this book is full of sounds, such as spaghetti being sucked or a train on the track or a thunder storm, even the sound of a great big yak. Be careful when you open this book, it can be very NOISY!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem book, it is lots of fun and has fantastic illustrations.
I would use this book for Key Stage 1 as I think being able to sing the poems makes it more engaging along with the bright use of pictures. I loved how there were so many different poems throughout the book and how they ranged from being about people, weather, music and culture. This book could engage most children in the class for many different reasons. Not every poem has the obvious rhyming word but most had lots of repetition allowing it be accessible for every child to join in.
I think my favourite poem in the book is 'Sampan' the reason for this is the rhyming words you could also get the children doing actions, allowing them to really think about what the poem is saying and why them actions may have been chosen. Finally, the weather poems are very captivating allowing the children to come up with their very own and what they feel the different types of weather represents to them.

Poetry, lower elementary grades.
This is such a fun poetry book. The poems are simple, but they are full of different parts of speech, and would be perfect to use while introducing students to rhyming and the other parts of speech. An easy read, but a beneficial read to any student just starting out.

Noisy Poems, a collection of delightful pieces of short poetry, is a wonderful title for beginning readers. The poems, primarily about food, animals, weather, and music, are paired with whimsical illustrations that will capture kids’ imaginations. In the hands of a reading teacher, this book will support children learning to read by increasing their phonemic awareness as they read through the rhymes in the poems. It can also help kids develop phonics skill through endless examples of how phonemes are represented by different graphemes. The poems expose kids to have assonance, consonance, and onomatopoeia that all serve to help them learn common word structures, the knowledge of which they will take into the rest of their reading. Furthermore, the examples of non-sense words will help teachers assess whether children have solidified their understandings of phonetic concepts and developed decoding skills. Noisy Poems will keep kids coming back to continually refine their reading skills, because the collection is simply FUN. The joy created by this book will encourage kids to persist through the tongue-twisters and challenges of the poems’ irregular rhyme schemes that are sometimes even tough for adults to read!

This is a very enjoyable book of poems. The children loved the ning nang nong with its strange rhymes and browsed through the book at every chance. It suits young children very well and the illustrations are great. This book would be a good starting place to learn about poems and sounds.
