Roderick Macleod Beaton, FBA, FKC (born 1951) is a retired academic. He was Koraes Professor of Modern Greek and Byzantine History, Language and Literature at King's College London from 1988 to 2018.
It's wonderful to find a text which treats Byzantine literature seriously. It is a thorough, scholarly presentation of the late Byzantine romances (similar to and related to the romances of Western Europe), starting with Digenes Akritas and ending with the period just after the Fall.
