Laurie Henry nurtures writers through the long and sometimes lonely task of writing a novel with 115 imaginative journal activities for every stage of the process.
This book is ideal for novices, as well as veteran writers. The exercises included in this book are helpful reminders for suggestions on details to include in your book, especially when you find yourself faced with writer's block. This is a good writing companion.
This is a book filled with journal prompts and "advice" from well known authors. Right now I see some helpful questions and others that may be along the way. Some appear to contradict Mr. Morrell's approach, which I really liked, but they may fit me when I get there. I think this will be a companion on my writing desk this next year, and I'll open a file to keep the journal notes rather than writing in the limited space within it's pages.
A lot of good advice. It's a dual work book/how-to book. I recommend borrowing it from the library and seeing if you like it before buying it or at least perusing it at the library first. It had a lot of great exercises for plotting and pacing that worked really well for my current project.
