Emergency Quarterback

Rate this book
Jason Fiorelli is having a great year as wingback on the Hudson City Hornets. Twenty-seven receptions, six touchdowns, and fifty points for the season! Now with only three games left, the league title is within reach, until -- disaster -- the Hornets' star quarterback has a season-ending injury. And Wade, the replacement quarterback doesn't have the talent to take charge.

In a surprise move, Coach sends Jason in as emergency quarterback. It's an opportunity to save the season, but it also feeds the rivalry between Wade and Jason. With the championship game drawing near, can the Hornets pull it together in time to work as a team?

the reason i gave this book a 5 out of 5 was because this book never missed a beat there was always something happening and if there wasn't there was about to be.
i think some that loves football should read this book expectantly if there dream is to be a Quarterback
they will enjoy this book as much as i did.
i don't know what would have made this book better then them playing more games and them making crazy plays.

I enjoyed reading the book, “Emergency Quarterback” by Rich Wallace. Rich Wallace has written this book about Vinnie, the starting quarterback, who gets injured and can't play anymore. Wade, the backup quarterback, who thought he should have been the starter all along, starts to get full of himself. He tries to do everything himself during the game and not throwing the ball to their fast, starting wideout, Jason is very talented. The coach realizes what Wade is doing. The coach decided to move Jason to play quarterback because he is really fast.

This book is told from the third person point of view. The story has direct characterization. Direct characterization is shown when Jason is described as a very good receiver who makes big plays for his team. Wade is very selfish. He wanted to make all the plays even when Jason is open, to show why Jason shouldn’t have been the starting quarterback. The situation is caused by Vinnie, the starting quarterback, becoming injured.

The story takes place in the small town of Hudson City, New York, in late fall. To many of the people in Hudson City, sports are everything. Most of the story takes place on the football field with them trying to figure out what the team will do without Vinnie.

The message in the story shows that when people have the wrong attitude, and all they can think about is how to make themselves look good, it will not work for the team. Football is a team sport. Players have to work as a team. It’s not about one player. Wade thought it was all about him, so he lost his starting position. The team comes before any one individual.

I would recommend this book to any age group. This book will not get boring. This book is easy to read and understand. The author always has really good books, as I have been noticing when I read others by Rich Wallace. This book is good for anyone who's involved in any activities.

“Emergency Quarterback” by Rich Wallace, is based around a seventh grader named Jason Fiorelli. Jason plays wing back for his middle school football team. Jason is easily the most talented player on the team and it shows on the field. He constantly makes spectacular plays during the games. When the quarterback goes down with an injury, Jason is called on to be the emergency quarterback. He has never played quarterback before and has a lot of pressure on him because the team needs to win the upcoming games. Jason becomes pretty comfortable with the new position and makes a spectacular play to capture the league championship.

Jason Fiorelli is the main character of the story. He expresses greatly expresses what is most important to him. Jason is very confident in himself and his team. He expects victories and not losses. He is a great team player who encourages his team mates to do their best. Jason is a role model for any athlete.

The story takes place in Hudson City, NY, during the present. The city and atmosphere is never described very well. The author mentions the stands filling up at the beginning of the game but, that’s all that is mentioned. The setting does not play a big role in this story.

I would recommend this book to any reader that enjoys football and reads at a middle school level. The book is very enjoyable and has a good meaning to mean it. Any athlete would like this book and how it is written. It is a great overall book.

I read the book Emergency Quarterback by Rich Wallace. The setting of the book is Hudson City and the main character is Jason Fiorelli. I found this because I read one of Rich Wallace books before and i really liked it so i thought i'd read another one of his book. I really enjoyed reading this book.
A lot happens in the book Emergency Quarterback. Jason usually plays as wingback on the football team but, three weeks before playoffs the first string quarterback took an unwanted injury. Which left Jason as next in line to be the quarterback. They am had many ups and downs but they ended up going to the finals against Hobroken. The day came that everyone was waiting for and both teams wanted that trophy really bad. The game came and it was a close game for the Hornets but they ended up winning 8-7 Hudson City Hornets winning.
The booked ended in a very good way. The Hudson City Hornets ended up winning the finals to a score of 8-7. The team was very excited to win the finals with there emergency quarterback. My favorite is when the Hornets make a come back in the semi finals to get themselves into finals. It was my favorite part because watching a team make a comeback into a game it fun to hear about.
The book Emergency Quarterback was a very interesting book. I really enjoyed reading it because I could kinda relate to it. All football book would be related to this book. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes to read about sports and people who like to read about football. Overall this book was very fun to read and i would read more of Rich Wallace’s books again.

Emergency Quarterback is a book by Rich Wallace with a lexile range of 720L. It’s a book about a kid named Jason and his football season. He plays wingback for his team and the quarterback is Vinnie. Vinnie and Jason are leading the team and are 6-0 with the duo. But then Vinnie gets injured so a backup qb (quarterback) Wade goes in. He’s a really bad qb so they end up putting Jason at qb at first he isn’t very good but at the end of the season in their game for the championship Jason has progressed a lot at this time and comes in clutch for his team to a nice pass.

I think the theme of this book is teamwork makes the dreamwork. I think this because Wade and Jason don’t like eachother very much in the book because they are competing for the starting spot at qb since obviously Vinnie is hurt. But at the end when Wade and Jason are taught that they have to work together they end up winning the game for their team. Some dialogue that propels action is when they are in the restaurant eating and Wade and his friends come in and they almost get in a fight.

I would recommend this book if you like sports and aren’t looking to read a super long book. A thing I like about this book is that it’s about a group of kids that have never won the championship in their little football league and they have to work together as a team to win the championship. A thing I don’t really like about this book is it’s super predictable. That's one thing I don’t like about sports books in general. A lot of them are just really predictable. It was a pretty easy book to read and not super long. The ending was predictable and good.

In the literal work of Emergency quarterback by Rich Wallace, the reader is introduced to a team that is undefeated and how Jason Fiorelli the wide receiver and the QB Vinnie Demarco always make the touchdowns and win every game. In chapter 1 it talks about how Vinnie gets drilled after he throws his last touchdown pass. According to the author, Wade Brigham had the biggest ego on the team. A closer reading reveals that when Wade goes to QB, he doesn't look Jason´s way to throw the ball to him for the winning touchdown. The details are important because Jason doesn´t like Wade because of his ego that ego he has. I experienced something similar when I was playing wide receiver and the QB runs the ball for himself and barely gets 1 yard. Throughout the story, we witness how the Jason and Wade become close friends in the end when that happens they are playing the championship against Hoboken and win the championship from right under them with the winning touchdown from Jason Fiorelli and Wade. In the end, they win the championship from Hoboken because Jason got good blocking from the line and scored the winning touchdown.

*** For anyone who loves football, this book delivers pure football action. I liked that it touched on a few other issues such as selfishness and racial comments but in a way that any grade level could read the book and find the material appropriate. The main characters are in middle school but a first grader could read it as well as a struggling adolescent and enjoy it equally for the football action.

Plot: Jason Fiorelli is a wingback and star player on the Hudson City Hornets. He wants to win a championship but with only three games left the star quarterback is injured. So now Jason is put in the position to lead the team to victory by being the emergency quarterback a position he hasn’t played before. Can he get the backup quarterback to realize that there is no I in team before it is too late?

Characters:
Jason- he is very hard on himself, wants to win, fearless, a team player, somewhat cocky.
Wade- the backup quarterback who is selfish, not a team player, self-centered, conceited.
Miguel, Lamont, Anthony, Sergio, Calvin- football players and Jason’s friends. They are caring, compassionate, team players.
Vince- the quarterback who get injured. He is a leader, motivates others, wise.

Key issues: Football, teamwork, selfishness, racism
Other Information: This book is in a series called Winning Season. There are five books in the series but it looks like they don’t all focus on Jason. Rich Wallace also has written sports books on wrestling and baseball that students might enjoy.

Genre: sports, realistic fiction

Lupa kalo dia tuh main sama team.

Akhirnya coach milih wingback, Jason, untuk menjadi emergency quarterback menggantikan Vinnie untuk dua pertandingan mendatang. Tentu aja Wade nggak suka doongg?

This book is an awesome book because one its about football, my favorite sport next to wrestling. This book is about a football team who is on their way to the championship. With 3 games away their first string quarterback gets hurt. The 2nd string quarterback Wade couldn't meet up to the expectations because he was scared he might mess up being that he's not as good as their 1st string. This guy named Jason Fiorelli is a wing back who is doing good this season at wing back. The coach of the hornets sees potential in Jason and makes him first string. It was all on him weather the Hornets win the championship. Even though it was a shock at first he managed to hold on and work his as to be as good as the 1st string. Very good book for people who likes sport books.

Jason Fiorelli is having a great season as wingback on the Hudson City Hornets. With only three games left in the season the Hornets star quarterback gets hurt. Wade, the backup quarterback does not have the talent to help the Hornets win the championship. The Hornets coach decides to put Jason as the emergency quarterback. Do Jason and the Hornets have what it takes to win the championship.

Opinion:

I thought Emergency Quarterback was a good book. One reason I liked it is because the author was descriptive. An example of this was when he was talking about the two point conversion on a crucial play in the game. Another thing I liked about the book is that it involved lots of teamwork. An example Jason and Wade who didn't like each other decided to work on a trick play together. I would rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
