Rate this book
How do you find hope in the face of miscarriage?

Morgan Martin had always dreamed of being a wife and mother. But nothing could have prepared her for the day when her faith was tested and she lost her first baby to miscarriage. Her world was shattered, and for the first time, she began to question everything.

Healing Empty Hands is the courageous and powerful story of one woman’s journey to find hope and peace through miscarriage in the most incredible of the arms of Jesus. Through personal stories, lessons, and a unique perspective of her faith, Martin provides a vulnerable and honest look at how God guided her through her deepest sorrow to find healing, hope, and peace. While she doesn’t claim to have a magic solution to your pain, she can show you that when you surrender to Him, healing and strength are possible.

Healing Empty Hands is a book that will move you, inspire you, and help you find healing, redemption, and purpose when you praise a good God through life’s greatest heartbreaks.

This book is full of Bible verses and biblical anecdotes to help the girls going through probably the toughest time of their lives and asking why God? Why me? Did God do this to me because of what I have done in the past? If God loves me why is this happening to me? If God was real this wouldn’t have happened, I need answers and I need hope and I don’t know where to find Gods answers to these questions I have.

This is where Morgan is stepping in to help all of the other girls who have found themselves in the same situation she was in in 2020. She doesn’t have all of the answers but after God laid it on her heart to write this book she did a deep dive on the Bible and found a lot of examples of other people having the same questions about their different situations and how God answered them. We don’t get to look forward in our lives the way we can skip forward a couple chapters in the Bible and see if the the Israelites ever made it to the promise land or not; but we can use those past examples of the way God provided and made good on his promises to give us the peace and hope we need during this time of heartbreaking miscarriage & help find the purpose in the pain.

~quotes~

“I asked again, Why God? This time, I felt his voice as He simply and clearly replied back to me, Because I know you'll use it. In that moment, my perspective shifted from seeing this as a tragedy happening to me to an assignment by God happening for me. Don't misunderstand me, though. That didn't mean God caused my miscarriage. But I do believe He allowed it to happen to me and that He had a plan to use it for good.” Chpt 2

~There are also questions and challenges for the reader at the end of some of the chapters to engage and help you reflect on your own journey and not just Morgan’s.~

“I hope the Lord will reveal to you some ways in which you can use the heartache you're feeling to help others, that you'll find ways to use your pain and not waste it. What does "good" look like for you? What are some ways you can think of to actively start using this pain for good? Or what are some of the ways you already have?
If you could pick your own version of this messy pain turning out "good," what would you choose? What would that look like?” Chpt 2

“To echo God's own challenge to me, what are the things you should really be praying for? In what areas do you feel called to submit to God's authority and how He will or has answered your prayers? What emotions have you been holding onto that arent from the Lord that you need to release?”-chpt 6

~These were a couple of my favorite quotes! ~

“I once heard someone say that "no" is a full sentence and doesn't require an explanation. Set boundaries and realistic expectations for those around you!” Chpt 3

“The timing of my story and of yours is divine and perfect.” Chpt 13

Healing Empty Hands is the author’s story of going through her miscarriage and learning to lean on her faith in God to overcome the pain of losing her baby. The invisible pain of going through this process is hard and so so lonely even when you are surrounded by friends and family. Through the book she does an amazing job of telling her story and giving the reader hope, encouragement and the knowledge that we are not alone. There is light at the end of the tunnel no matter how our own individual stories unfold.

Great book

I would highly recommend this book to anyone that has experienced a miscarriage, a infant loss or any loss at all. When I first started this book I couldn't stop reading. Did highlights and went to the scriptures in this book to go back to when ever I needed. It is very well written and definitely one to keep close by.

A great book for any type of loss! A great reminder to trust in His plan, that our pain has purpose, to surrender our timing and plans to Him and that He is bigger than any problem!

Beautiful Read! I highly recommend Healing Empty Hands for any Christian or ex-Christian woman. Especially if you have experienced loss. Morgan opens up about her experience with pregnancy loss and takes you on a journey through the bible. She shares her own testimony and speaks into so many life seasons through her examples in scripture. Having already come through loss and grief, I found her words helped me in other areas of life. I felt so seen. I listened to her Audiobook and it truly felt like sitting down for coffee, in my case hot chocolate, with a friend. I've also had the pleasure of talking with the author and she is as lovely in person as you could imagine. If you or a loved one has experienced loss, know you're not alone and this is one book you can read or listen to for strength - Ella Rose Author of 'Becoming a Titus 2 Mother'

Although I've never experienced a miscarriage myself, I did walk through this experience with my daughter. Morgan's book is raw and real. The pain experienced by her miscarriage is not sugarcoated, but the redemption in her story is something you will want to read about!

Overall, this was a nice read in terms of processing grief and feeling hope moving forward.
I cannot get behind the idea that the pain of loss is for a purpose, though. Or that this loss was part of God’s plan.
