The premise of this series is really interesting, and the main character is an interesting choice. I'm not sure if it's meant to be read by a YA audience or adult, but it is interesting enough that it kept me reading just to see what would happen next. It is a pretty quick read, and at this point I am looking forward to the rest of the series. Oz is not really a very interesting character, but the situations he finds himself in, and the other characters really bring the story to life. This second book in the series seemed to ramp up much more quickly, had more action, and the imagery was definitely more gruesome and disturbing than the first book, which is not a bad thing, just an observation.
