Young Matt Bodine and Sam Two Wolves became blood brothers on the day the rancher's son saved the halfbreed's life, forging a bond no one could ever break. As years passed, a legend grew of the breed and the white man who rode together--and who could jerk killing iron with the best of them... Gunsight Crossing Wise in the ways of a lawless land, the blood brothers deal out their own brand of frontier justice. And when they ride a hot and dusty trail into Texas looking for some excitement, they find it in spades. Big John Lee owns the biggest spread west of the Pecos, but he's hired a crowd of tough gunners to claim more than his legal share. Bodine and Sam Two Wolves decide to throw their lot in with the men of the Circle S, who were next on John Lee's land-grabbing list. It certainly won't be the first time they use their Colts to deal out death sentences in burning powder and hot lead--but if they're not careful, it might well be their last...

This one literally fell off my bookshelves so I decided to read it. Haven't been out West for a while so...
So far it's pretty familiar territory. War between a bad greedy ranch owner and his good-guy neighbors is a-brewin' out west of the Pecos and our heroes will be on the side of the good guys for sure. No bodies have hit the ground yet, but judging by the cover they will be soon - in quantity. There are a few females on hand and they will no doubt be complicating things.
- The cover image of my paperback copy is not available. It's a very violent image BTW. Mr. Johnstone is a very prolific writer.
- Uses the word "crud" twice within a few lines.
- the rope trick makes no sense - what about the horses?????
Finished last night with this ultra-violent but otherwise undistinguished "novel". I wouldn't call it bad, exactly, but neither "good" nor "OK" apply either. The body count? WAY over-inflated in favor of our heroes, hardly any of whom get even a scratch, while the baddies die by the dozen. Not exactly what you'd call realistic.
I have read this book years ago but did not remember until I started. I went ahead and read it again. I just started on the next book of the series and realized I read that one also. I think that’s was the last one I read in the series. I will keep on going to refresh my memory so I can finish the series. Love the characters, but I do remember how this author at times really starts feeling himself and goes a little too far and starts joking around too much. The first couple of books they have the brothers having a good sense of humor but keeping it in character, and this one there seems to be a joke every other sentence. It starts diluting the story. In saying that, love my western books and these series.
Quite a lot of cursing by the bad guys. Too many F bombs and bad guys calling filthy names. I still enjoy the banter of Matt and Two Wolves though for sure.
I enjoyed this installment of the Blood Bond series, but would not reread. While I found the first book in the series riveting and it remains a favorite, this work did not offer any real emotional tie that made me remember the story. I like the interplay between the protagonist characters, but enjoy more of Johnstone's other works much more.
Really interesting, I start reading and can't put it down. My wife never used to care too much for westerns, and now she is hooked on this author. Keep up the fantastic writings
I would recommend to everyone you will be hooked ,there is a good supply of books, so no waiting, and speedy service
Great western action with lots of authentic Old West detail and a pair of the most interesting and detailed characters in western fiction. Simply put: I recommend it to lovers of Old West stories.
