National Best-selling author Adrianne Byrd has always preferred to live within the realms of her imagination where all the men are gorgeous and the women are worth whatever trouble they manage to get into. As an army brat, she traveled throughout Europe and learned to appreciate and value different cultures. Now she calls Georgia home.

Looking back, Adrianne believes her passion for writing began at the ripe old age of thirteen. It was also the age when she was introduced to romance novels by a most unlikely source: her fifteen-year old brother. The book was probably given to keep her out her brother’s hair, but it was a gift that changed her life.

In books, Adrianne found a way out of her awkward teenage years and into a world of fictional friends that would stay with her for a lifetime. It wasn’t long before her imagination took flight and she was writing her own love stories. Within a year, she completed her first book, which she vowed would never see the light of day.

Writing remained a hobby until 1994 when a co-worker approached her with an article on Romance Writers of America. Who knew there was an organization of women just like her? By 1996 she sold her first novel, Defenseless, to Kensington Publishing.

Her first release received rave reviews by Romantic Times and fans. Her other novels were consistently selected as the Magazine’s Top Pick. In 2001 Slam Jam nominated, Say You Love Me, for best romance. Her 2003 release Comfort of a Man won Romantic Times Best Multicultural Romance, Romance in Color’s Readers Choice Awards for Favorite Book, Favorite Hero, and Favorite Heroine; Shades of Romance’s Best/Arabesque Romance Book; Slam Jams Emma Award for Favorite Traditional Romance; Romance in Color’s Reviewer’s Choice Award for Author of the Year, Book of the Year and Best BET/Arabesque Book. And lastly Comfort of a Man was a 2003 Georgia Romance Writers Maggie finalist for best Contemporary. In 2004 she released her first romantic suspense novel, If You Dare, with HarperCollins. In 2006 her novel Measure of a Man was nominated for Best Multicultural Romance while her Harper Torch novel Deadly Double was nominated for an Emma. In 2007 she won an eharlequin.com Joey Award.

In 2006 Adrianne along with fellow writer Niobia Bryant penned her first Urban Novel, DESPERATE HOODWIVES, writing as De'nesha Diamond. The book is set for release February 2008 from Simon and Schuster. For more information, visit http://www.deneshadiamond.com.

Ms. Byrd has been featured in many national publications, including Today’s Black Woman, Upscale, and Heart and Soul. She has also won local awards for screenwriting. For the future, she looks forward to continue creating characters that make people smile, laugh, and fall in love.

A Sweet Romantic Comedy

Okay, I am now officially a 'Byrd Watcher'. I will definitely be seeking out ALL future novels from Ms. Byrd. 'When You Were Mine' is the second book in the Adams Family series and you will not be able to put this book down until the last page. I LOVE this family, they are funny as all get out! This book was HILARIOUS! The characters, main and secondary will definitely having you LOL at their antics throughout this novel. It was like watching a very entertaining romantic comedy. The storyline flowed effortlessly and the dialogue was quite witty. The chemistry between Ryan and Joey was electric. The love scenes were definitely HOT! I thoroughly enjoyed the verbal sparring between this couple. Ryan was definitely a man that knew how to sweep a girl off her feet, whether he was pretending or not, brother had it goin' on! I thought it was sweet the way he was always placed in a position to be Joey's 'guardian angel' or her Knight in shining armor. And Joey and all her 'spur of the moment' ideas were simply priceless. This was a very sweet, romantic read!

Ms. Byrd does not disappoint. I loved this book. It was the best. You can relate to the characters, the feelings and the lengths to which you will go to for love or the semblance of it. this is a must read. I would definitely recommend you read it. I have read it several times because it is just that great.

Loved this story.

I definitely enjoyed reading Ryan and Josh's story. Joey climbing down into the men's bathroom was a very funny scene. What is up with Marlin giving all of his girls a masculine name. The actress was a spoiled attention getter. If you had it, she wanted it, or wanted larger. The doctor was a fool. The story was well written and I love this author.

I finished this book in 3 hours and it was rightly so as I kept interrupting the read to eat, watch a movie or engage in long conversations with my sister. But that is not to say that I did not enjoy Joey and Ryan's story. In fact it was a surprisingly delicious tale, though I was a bit skeptic at how I'd relate to a bunch of women named after men...

Joseph Henry Adams is sure that her boyfriend - Laurence Benson - is about to propose. Instead he dumps hers and admits that there is another woman. During her attempts to win him back, she meets movie director Ryan Donovan and he agrees to help her try to make her ex-almost fiancé jealous. But while pretending to be in love, they really do fall in love.

Adrianne writes with such precision I could easily imagine the novel as a movie. Her characters are believable and so real you can almost see yourself, your friends and your family members in one character or another. The passion and chemistry between Joey and Ryan sizzles right off the page. Joey, though a bit too flaky for my taste, is easy to love. And Ryan, as arrogant and annoying as he is, can't help but charm his way into your heart. This books was a delightful read and although predictable at times, it will still leave you anxious and turning the page to find out what happens next.

The book was a'ight, but nowt special. Full disclosure, off the bat, I don't like most of the Adams family at all. Joey is flighty, Micheal is one of those women who looks to critique everyone's business, but not managing hers right. Peyton is thoughtful, I'll give her that, the other two sisters are squawking hens on the margins and Flex seems to have a mind of his own, divorced from the hive mind that is his sisters. My problem with this family seems to be that it's hard to follow who's doing or saying what all the time, because everyone refuses to stay on the margins.

This book is solid in the sense that it got into the action relatively quickly. Joey expects marriage from Benson her plastic surgeon bf. Benson decides to marry this actress, for business purposes mind, a walking business card if you will. So Joey wishes to get him back and enlists the aid of Ryan Donovan in an elaborate ruse to win him back.

Joey seems feckless and reckless. She finds herself in Italy chasing down the bf, and gets to know Ryan. I enjoyed the relationship between Joey and Ryan as it developed, but the ending was a tad rushed.

Oh well.

This was such a good story. Joey gets dumped by her longtime doctor boyfriend, Laurence, who in my a opinion was a real jerk. Crushed by the break-up Joey sets off to Italy to win him back. Along the way she meets successful director, Ryan Donovan. Ryan agrees to help her win Laurence back. The sparks fly between Ryan and Joey and soon she forgets about her plan to win her ex-almost fiance back. This is a funny and heartwarming story. Needless to say, neither is aware of the feelings they have developed for each other. Subsequently they hit a bump in the road to forever, but eventually work it out. Great sequel to A Measure of A Man

Awesome love story that proves that true love is better than being in love with LOVE! Promising screenwriter Joey Adams was heartbroken when longtime boyfriend, Dr. Lawrence Benson broke up with her only to get engaged to "a Dimwit-wanna-be Actress" Carlina in order to advance his career. In an effort to try and win him back, Joey meets Hollywood director Ryan Donovan and sparks begin to fly between the two when they worked together to pull a fast one on Lawrence. Both had to succumb to raw passion.

If I'm going to read a chick lit beach book, I at least want the happily ever after/hollywood ending...
