Where to even begin...First off, the Irin Chronicles is one of those literary worlds that has so much history to it, just when you think you’ve got it figured out, another layer is peeled back to its complexity and you are left in awe.
When this book landed early on my kindle to be reviewed I was so excited! I was beginning to get used to how things worked in the Irin world, I was used to the historical settings of Istanbul and the great Far East. Places that you could pull from such rich history and weave into your story as only Elizabeth does. When the author announced this book would be set here in America, I admit I thought that maybe this time the story might have less depth. (Stupid me *eye roll*) That with such a young country, what information could possibly be so far in the past that it would be hard to find for such an amazing race such as The Irin? (After countless books, and being blown away each time, I am annoyed with myself for even asking such a question)
Written in the bayous of NOLA the setting is rich with history as well as a huge mystery for the Irin people. Answers are needed, and the future of both the Irin and Grigori lays in the balance The introduction of a character called The Wolf, as well as Vasu’s many appearances filled this book to the brim with powerful moments, ones that I will reread many times trying to find all of the hidden meanings hidden between the lines. We have waited for the HEA for Rhys for 6 books, ever since the brotherly kiss with Ava so long ago. Silly Rhys, Ava wasn’t right for you, but Meera? Yes, she is such a delight to discover in The Seeker. One of those elements that we readers have yet to discover in the Irin world, and she will not disappoint you. Even you ladies who want to claim him as your own will have to admit she has a unique ferocity in her demeanor that you can’t help but love. I see why she drives Rhys mad in the best of ways. I don’t envy what her destiny is, but the creator sure knew what he was doing when he put those two together. Rhys has finally found his place in the world and I’m loving him in it.
With the many new characters that you will be helplessly drawn to, and the possibilities that the future may now hold for the singers and scribes (as well as grigori) the Irin world just swells to new heights, and deeper mysteries. I’m so happy to be along for the journey.

Characters & Chemistry
Rhys of Glast, a stuffy British scholar or that is at least the impression that he wants to give. First and foremost, he is a warrior and has been fighting the Grigori for centuries. But nothing is black and white anymore not all Grigori are bad. To help the Irina that that are coming out of hiding since The Rending they will need a weapon and Rhys plans on finding it.
I adore Rhys he is one of my favourite characters in this series. He is loyal, grumpy and has the whole hot scholar thing going on. Lol.
Meera is a keeper. An Irina with so much knowledge that it is more a curse than blessing. She has no one to rely on everyone seeks council from her. It is time for her to be set up. But all her life her choices were made for her because of her position but this one time she wanted to make the choice and not have fate intervene or her parents. She is currently on hiatus though and sooner or later will have to go back to Udaipur.
I really liked Meera, but she did hit the adore level. Sorry. She is strong, mysterious, sassy and can stand her ground she is also a scholar but a different kind.
These two are chemistry wise amazing together. On all levels they really reshon. Basically, heaven made them for each other.
Writing, Pace and Plot.
The writing is flawless. I bow down to your awesomeness lady. I want to be you when I'm all grown up.
Now if you've gotten this far in reading my review you're probably wondering why not 5 stars you ask?
Well it all has to do with the pace. There is always a necessary build up, the environment, introduction to new characters, the mating dance, odes to bottoms to be made. The author takes longer than I want her to hit the turning point of the plot of the book and he drives me barmy. That is why I docked a star.
The plot is exceptional. The author's attention to detail amazes me. The way she described New Orleans wants me to take the next flight there. This time we discover the Irin of North America. Rhys is looking for martial magic for the Irina and he has gotten a tip that the Wolf knows this type of magic. The Wolf is a legend. Her magic killed an Archangel without the use of a blade but there was a very steep price to pay. A price the Wolf hasn’t overcome to this day. Rhys wants to restore Irina status in Vienna and give them what they deserve after being helpless after so long.
But first they must fight the Archangel Bozidar.
Ms. Hunter has the talent to make each heroine so unique which is a hard feat as it some point it is hard not to fall into the pattern of the same cookie cutter formats.
On top of it each character shows character development.
Secondary Characters.
Be it Roch, Sabine, Patiala, Maarut round the book off perfectly. But my favourite is Vasu. He is sneaky, cunning and has one heck of a plan in place. But he is also really funny.
“I’d hardly have to crook my finger” Vasu smirked. “Bozidar will do anything if you flatter him. He lives for it. He was voted Most Easy to Manipulate in the heavenly realm.” Meera blinked. “Was that… a joke? Did you make a joke on purpose? “Are you saying I make jokes accidentally?
Vasu appeared next to them, stretching out on the grass like a lazy cat. “You’re not going to get rid of me, are you? How boring would that be?” Rhys closed his eyes. “If I don’t look at him, can I pretend he’s a figment of my imagination?” “Then you’d have a disturbing imagination,” Vasu said.
Verdict
The Irin series is one of the most intricate, deeply layered worlds that has been created. Just when I think the author can't surpass the previous book I am proven wrong.
Can The Seeker be read as a standalone? Absolutely not.
It might seem intimidating to start the series as this is already book 7. But I can tell you that in my opinion it is worth it.
But what is too happen next? Will we stay in the States or do we get to travel the world? Only Ms. Hunter knows the answer to that and I can't to find out.

I have been waiting for Rhys's book since first reading The Scribe, and it doesn't disappoint. The Irin world gets a little bigger with the introduction of characters from India, set against the sticky, hot New Orleans area.
Vasu lovers are also going to love this book. Lots of scenes with my favorite angel in the series.

What a terrific read. EH never fails to write an awesome book. For new readers, start at the beginning and read them all. I promise you will never be disappointed.

Loved it! If you are looking for a fantasy fix, I highly recommend the Irin Chronicles. Book 7 was fantastic, 7 and I can’t wait for the next one! Bravo Elizabeth Hunter, you create the most vivid and amazing worlds and characters.

Another magical, mythical, mesmerizing story in the Irin Chronicles world! And once again, I find myself hopelessly in love with yet another scribe (sorry, Malachi!). The Seeker opens with a decidedly more "modern" feel to it than previous books - maybe because it's set in America. I always enjoy the surreal aura surrounding these stories that's brought about in part by mythical type settings, I think. But, as always, I was soon encompassed by it all - the sights, sounds, smells, feels, touches. Hunter has such an amazing gift of pulling readers into a scene no matter the location. And as soon as the story entered the dark, mysterious swamps/bayou of New Orleans, I was hopelessly lost in the sultry, atmospheric world surrounding the characters . . . and me.
Rhys of Glast, scribe of Istanbul, an archivist, scholar, and seeker of truth . . . and a warrior who will do whatever it takes to secure the safety of singers by finding the key to their past. Meera, a legendary singer, keeper of memories, advocate for peace . . . currently on an interlude from a duty and future sealed by fate at her birth. All she's ever wanted is a choice in what happens in her life, and for a short period of time, she refuses to allow anyone to intrude on her plans - including one stubborn, arrogant, infuriating, know-it-all scribe . . . and yeah, okay, maybe he is gorgeous. Not that she noticed! The chemistry and interaction between these two characters is off-the-charts in every way that counts . . . they sizzle, fume, taunt, dance, and tease one another into a frenzy of desire that refuses to be denied. Can two strong, arrogant (yes, you are too, Meera!), bull-headed, written-in-the-stars characters find a common ground and figure out they're stronger together than apart - before it's too late?
As always, Hunter is a master at weaving the customs, heritage, and history of the past with the promise of a brighter, more peaceful future, not only for Rhys and Meera but for everyone including scribes, singers, and grigori. A star-studded support cast will delight readers with Vasu leading the charge with his outrageous behavior and many unique forms. The twisted plot line is intriguing, and while I found it a wee bit slow "getting there", I thoroughly enjoyed the journey! The Seeker is everything readers love about the Irin world. Another special Must Read in the series!

Rhys has been one of my favorite characters of this series. He gives off an uptight British scholar vibe, someone who always has to be right. He is loyal to both his people and those he considers family. He is willing to go above and beyond to make sure his people thrive and his loved ones stay safe. Over the series he has seen all of his brothers find mates and was starting to wonder if he would ever be granted the gift of his mate. Heck I was itching for him to find his mate, especially after his lackluster kiss with Ava.
Meera is strong, sassy, and has a brain that rivals even our beloved Rhys. Her quick wit and heart will have you enamored with her. She has been the person that everyone relied on, but yet no one has really been there for her. Her piece of the Irin world has been a mystery until now, and it was quite the joy to discover it. Every aspect of her life has been decided for her and she fought tooth and nail to be the one who decides her mate. She keeps Rhys on his toes and drives him mad in the best way possible.
There were so many new and interesting characters that we got to meet in our journey to the bayous of New Orleans. You can’t help but be drawn to these new characters and all of the possibilities they bring for the future of this world. With the move to NOLA I was a little skeptical. I had loved the histories and wonder of Istanbul that was brought to us in the previous books, and was nervous that there wouldn’t be the same wonder with the move to America in this book. Boy was I glad I was wrong. We barely scratched the surface of the rich history of NOLA and this branch of Irin people, but dammit I’m jonesing for even more of it.
Elizabeth Hunter is a genius. For real. Her world building, plotlines, and overall writing is so beautiful to read. Her attention to detail is always so spot on and really allows her readers to see the world around them. She gives us female characters that are strong and more than just a “mate” for the men. Each pairing is a partnership and they both bring so much to the table. The intricate twists and turns of the plot keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat the entire book. The pacing was a little slower in this book, but that was to be expected with the introduction of a new side to this fantastical world of the Irin people.
The passion between Rhys and Meera burned oh so good. Their chemistry was electric and I never doubted that they were made for each other. Elizabeth has a way with writing love scenes that aren’t graphic, but still pack a punch in the steamy heat department.
The Irin Chronicles gets better and better with every new release in the series. I wouldn’t recommend reading this book as a standalone, but I would recommend if you haven’t read the series that you jump on it ASAP. Some may find it daunting to start a series that is already 7 books in, but trust me it will be worth it. I’m so happy that Rhys has not only found his mate, but a woman who can go head to head with him fighting for their people and in the bedroom. I’m practically humming with anticipation for where Elizabeth may take us next on this Irin journey.

Great addition to the Irin Chronicles. I love how each of the books both extends the Irin world into a new realm (in this case the US) and pairs each of the Istanbul scribes (in this case Rhys) with their mate. Loved the Louisiana setting. Loved the links to Native American history. Given the brief glimpses into Irin history through Meera's memories, I wonder if Elizabeth Hunter might consider a prequel type of novel or even set of short stories that take us back to some of those dramatic incidents? In any case I will wait patiently for whatever it is that Elizabeth is writing next. I'm sure I'll love it.

Once again, Elizabeth Hunter delivers a breathtaking story with The Seeker, the 7th story in the Irin Chronicles. This is the long-awaited book for the academic British scribe Rhys of Glast.
After seeing all of his brothers get mates and find their reshon, Rhys was beginning to wonder if it would ever happen for him when he is sent to New Orleans to meet with the mysterious Irina singer Meera. The two characters are similar in their love for knowledge, their wariness of others, and the fact that they both know the etymological meaning of the word geek (loved that part!). But they both also have a fierce loyalty to the future of the Irin race, and despite having opposite views of how it should happen, they make an unstoppable team.
We meet some amazingly interesting new (but very old) characters in the Deep South and the bayous of New Orleans, and I would love to know more about Sabine, Roch, and the Wolf.
Of course, no Irin story would be complete without magic and romance, and the love story that develops throughout the novel is second to none. Elizabeth Hunter is skilled at writing a love scene that has almost tangible heat without being graphic, which is refreshing for a romantic storyline.
I am thankful I was able to read a copy of this book ahead of its release. I look forward to having the physical copy of the book grace my shelves; The Seeker is one of Elizabeth Hunter's best novels yet.

I always hate leaving this world - but I am leaving it in a very good place. It's nice to know that everyone is taken care of and that I can return anytime.

I was given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book and it did not disappoint. The story telling is just beautiful. We see Rhys meeting a whole new group of Irin/Irina in America. The story is beautiful, full of love - both the romance and reality and realness of love. Elizabeth Hunter‘s ability to write characters that we can immediately engage with and fall in love with or be irritated by or want to hold is never better than in this story. I have a book hangover. Do not miss out on this one!

I've FINALLY gotten to Rhys' story and really enjoyed it! He was the one side character from book one that I really wanted to read. As with the other books in the series, Rhys' story was different from the others....which I loved. You still have the Fallen and Grigori that need to be dealt with, but the story line is different. Meera, I wasn't too sure of her in the beginning of the book but after finding out just what she was/her powers, she was the perfect fit for Rhys.
On a side note, I LOVE all of the covers for this series. They represent the stories inside perfectly.
I hope that this is not the end of the Irin/Irina storyline.

My Favorite
This one is my favorite of the Irin series. Ms. Hunter continues to amaze me and draw me into this beautiful world. Meera rocks. I love the setting and incorpoation of Native Americans, as well as other peoples of color. Meera is a beautiful soul and the fact that she also is a women of color (with curves) was a bonus. Representation matters.
One of the (many) strengths of Ms. Hunter's writing is her characters. Her characters are fully fleshed out and complex. Their backgrounds and experiences are as diverse as you would find in real life. I love that Ms. Hunter embraces diversity, not only in settings for her books but also in her lead protagonists. While her books are not necessarily religious, we are talking about the Creator and his creations. And Ms. Hunter shows just how we are all made in the image of God, though we are flawed.
I love the balance between the Irin and Irina. I respect Ms. Hunter for the strong women she writes and the men who love them. If only human men and women sought the same balance. And even though the Irin fell victim to the same patriarchy that plague humans, the Irina are making a comeback. I wonder if Ms. Hunter is weaving a bit of social commentary into the story. Women are finding their voices and taking back power...taking their rightful places in seats of power to balance the influence of the Irin.
But anyway, I know it's selfish to already ask for the next one, but when is it coming?! Sigh. I know it will be a while. The research that Ms. Hunter does is reflected in her world building and I appreciate it. So, I'll be patient. Maybe re-read the series. This would make a great series. Netflix. HBO. Amazon. Please and thank you. Same with the Elemental Series.

It seems “The Seeker” concludes the Irin Chronicle series. Rhys and Meera’s romance was cute. They both had a thirst for knowledge and shared similar obsessions - things like language, history, and culture. I liked how Elizabeth Hunter incorporated Meera’s culture into their story.
The fated mate angst in “The Seeker” was frustrating. (It’s not a good idea to binge fated mate romances, at least in my case.) The heroine was nuanced. She’s been shaped by family, duty, and her specific Irina gift. She’s worldly and very logical minded. The story’s climax felt a bit underwhelming for all the build up. Hopefully, there will be another series set in the Irin world. There’s much that can be explored.

Another fantastic journey into the Irin world!! I was immediately captivated by the strong beautiful characters that Elizabeth created in Rhys and Meera, especially incredible sexy snarky banter between the two. It was so much fun learning about a new part of the Irin world with a characters that I already enjoyed from the previous books.
Elizabeth has this amazing ability to continually add worlds that she creates without them becoming absurd, repetitive or or predictable which happens with many longer series while allowing both the new and old characters room to develop and grow. As with all of her other books had major problems putting this book down and definitely was not ready for it to end.
I am always excited to see where she will take us next!!

Spent a lovely evening with this book. You’ll want to grab a copy, clear your calendar, and dive in. While part of a series, the author gives you enough detail to follow along, even if you don’t know all the details, but when the series is as amazing as this one—start at the beginning at catch up. I love the wordy interplay of the main characters, and the uniquely intellectual perspectives they bring to light. Plenty of heat for those who wonder, and set against the Cajun world of Louisiana, you can’t go wrong. Another winner!

The Seeker is Sultry, Simmering, and...Funny?

Sarcastically so.
I have been waiting on this book for so long now because of Rhys. Rhys! I met this witty and sarcastic Irin in The Scribe and fell HARD. (Well, I fell for Elizabeth Hunter as well. I love her writing. She is my all time favorite living author.) I was so excited to read Rhys’s story, and I was not disappointed.
I love that it’s set in Louisiana. I felt transported back to my home state. And yes, with Elizabeth writing the book, you feel as if you are THERE. Not just because I know this area. I’ve never been to Istanbul but I felt like I was there while reading The Scribe as well. She’s just that good folks!
This Irin world she created with The Scribe is expanding. She has brought in new characters and exciting things are happening. It’s hard to explain but you know what your gonna get when you read an Elizabeth Hunter book but you will also be surprised. Delightfully so, I might add.

I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book and it was truly amazing! I love all Elizabeth Hunter's books but this one is something special. It just captivates and consumes you and touches something deep inside of you. There is so much history and sacrifice and beauty and devotion and this book touches on it all. It shows that there is strength in us all, we just have to reach deep and find it. This is not a book to read and put down.. ..it will stay with you for a long time. And I do believe this may very well become one of my favorites.

Another Five Super Amazing Stars for Book #7 in the Irin Chronicles Series. Rhys and Meera Bai's story was perfection in every way. Starting from the locations in New Orleans or the fortress in Udaipur. I was as captivated as when I was in Istanbul with Malachi and Ava in Book 1. I loved everything about the story. Just to name a few; that Rhys and Meera Bai were "reshons", their romantic yet spirited courtship, the clashing yet complement of their powers and personality,
and best of all . . . the final battle that sent a horrible archangel back to Heaven.
Meera Bai's staggering powers were indescribably magical and vast. And yet, she couldn't have accomplished it all without Rhys, her mate and "reshon," or without the others' support. One of my favorite scenes was when Rhys surrendered himself completely to horrors and let Meera wield her full powers! Dying to read the next book!
Here's one very personal OMG! I was stunned speechless when Meera said: "Shall I start reciting from Chomsky's Aspects of the Theory of Syntax?" I was thrown back into long forgotten lecture in class! Wow! Extra Five I-Couldn't-Believe-She-Mentioned-That Stars for this question alone!
Leaving you with Meera's haunting disappointment in Rhys's attitude . . .
and best of all . . . the final battle that sent a horrible archangel back to Heaven.

EH give us again a wonderful piece of her world. A world so fascinating that you want to return to every now and then.
This one is great - why 4stars??? The world is too great, but the description of the world is too much, maybe too much details that leaves its reader wondering when would the action begins.
But overall its still awesome, you can't leave this one unread. For the memories that it will give, a promise of a lifetime it will receive...

It feels as if I have been waiting for Rhys' book forever, and although I love every single story in this series, I have desperately wanted the tough Welsh -librarian?- to find his happiness.
Meera leads Rhys a merry dance before the two find their happily ever after, but Elizabeth Hunter does a masterful job of allowing the reader to appreciate every single nuance of the two personalities and how they were masterfully designed for each other.
There is plenty to love in this beautifully-told tale set in New Orleans and the surrounding bayou country, and even a casual reader should be able to appreciate Hunter's obvious love for the area and its culture, blending it with her Irin history and culture for a splendid addition to the series.
Although The Seeker might possibly be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading the entire series and enjoy the rich, sometimes gritty splendor of Hunter's magical world.

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book with zero expectation of a review or any feedback.
The book was fantastic. I loved everything about Rhys and Meera’s story. You become really invested in both their lives apart and what might become of them together. I also really want to visit New Orleans and see some of the things that are mentioned.
The pacing was excellent and I became so wrapped up in the journeys of all the individuals within the book. I love the way it’s all intertwined and you get to relive some of the gut wrenching atrocities that the singers have been through as well as the long term implications of it all. Meera is easy to get behind with the weight of the world that she carries and Rhys is her perfect opposite.
The Irin/Irina books are amongst my absolute favourites and whilst Malachi will always hold a firm place in my heart I think Rhys might just push him to the side.
My only wish is that we learn more of Vasu and his story and what makes him tick.

I was beyond excited for this book, since I fell in love with Rhys way back in The Scribe--maybe it's the sapiosexual in me? I was not expecting to fall just as quickly in love with Meera, but I think this might be my favorite of all the Irin Chronicles. Add in a dash of Vasu and one bad-ass legendary Warrior Irina, and you've got one hell of a ride!
This book resonated even more strongly with me, I think, because Elizabeth Hunter excels at writing strong, powerful men AND women, who don't overpower each other. There's a balance that mirrors the magic within the story that makes it all the more poignant.

Elizabeth Hunter has given us another fantastic story in the Irin Chronicles. I love EH's books for the stories, characters, and sense of place that she evokes. This story grabbed me from the first moment and I fell in love with each of the characters, but also how they interact with each other. I didn't realize how emotionally invested I was until I was finished and felt at a loss when I couldn't spend time with Meera and Rhys, and the rest of the characters in the book.
And the travel! Whenever I'm suffering from wanderlust and I can't pick-up and go, I know I can pick up a book by Elizabeth Hunter. She has a way of evoking a place in a way that makes me feel like I've been there - the sights, sounds, smell, atmosphere of a place. Her ability to weave a story paired with her ability to enable her readers to experience a location and culture through her words is remarkable.

This is a read-me-twice and ready the cold shower book! Fans of EH's Irin Chronicles series will LOVE Rhys and Meera's hot and steamy story. I think we fans have all had a not so secret crush on Rhys and have been pulling for him to find his forever love. The Seeker did not disappointed.
In addition to the slow simmer to a scorching boil of a romance, there is also a ton of new information imparted in the full Irin/Irina journey as well as a hint at things to come, so be sure to pay close attention. Oh, and can I just say... #Vasu. We finally get to see lots of our favorite Fallen! With this book, we Hunters are happy campers, indeed.

Between the fact I haven't been in the mood for reading, plus not enough free time and the story not be as engaging as I hoped, it took me much more time than what I'd think to complete this book.
I was interested in seeing how the series would finish, otherwise I might have skipped it.
I don't know how to explain but it simply didn't captivate me as much as other installments in the series did.

Things are changing in the Irin world and The Seeker is a huge step forward in a more peaceful existence for the Irin and Irina. Rhys and Meera are scholars. Both brilliant, confident, and passionate, it takes them a bit to sync up, but when they do the romance is so very dreamy (and steamy!) Neither are able to find what they seek alone, but together, and stronger, they figure out their treasure hunt. A battle of epic proportions ensues and it once again shows the grace and efficiency of Irin battle when Irina are allowed to fight! It was a wonderfully written story. The characters are easy to fall in love with. I'll be reading this one on repeat!
