How We All Swiftly: The First Six Books

Rate this book
With an introduction by critic W.J. Keith, this overdue reissue of Coles's early virtuosity—a voice whose austere, tender, insouciant, sad-lit clarity reinvented Canadian poetry—allows readers to glimpse the evolution and shaping of a major writer.

Some good poems in this book. Some liked better than others and no I didn't read them all. I read ones I think I'll enjoy after a brief surmise. Sometimes you get caught in something you don't like. He's talented, a little more on the sexual side than my usual liked poetry, but some are, and even hide it. Not everyone can write poetry or like it (you'd have to find something you like). I recommend. I'm assuming the first six books refers to earlier material. A compilation. May be a 3.5, leaning tho toward a 4. I'm not fussy on rating books. Or even reading them sometimes, I've went years without reading. For the most part I love them, it's just fitting things in. My pops was a big reader when he could get to it, he'd get really silent at the dining room table, mostly the bible and the paper, I used to watch him, he was a really interesting fella . Starting early doesn't make me an expert ............. Weirdly some cannot read, or refuse to. Library cards help, going out and buying them. If you need help, with poetry writing, stare at a piece of paper. You might never be published, but at least you have something. Careful for those songsters and 'their" quips etc
