'Hachikuma' tries to deepen the Inui clan's suspicion of Renkaku, but Renkaku is on to him...or is he just on to the fact that his beloved Eiji has a crush on Hachikuma? Meanwhile, Beni struggles with her growing feelings for young Kagetora - will confessing her feelings for him now affect their feelings far in the future? And big Kagetora stumbles into a new time period - in between his past and Beni's present - and, boy, is he surprised by who he finds there!
Todo esto de los viajes en el tiempo me están mareando la verdad, porque si algo me dió Avengers fue el hecho de pensar muy bien como es que una acción puede afectar el presente y como todo puede cambiarse. Y acá es todo muy extraño.
Binge read the whole series in half a day and I loved it so, so much! I always love stories that have time travel just because they're that much more complicated so they take that much more effort and planning from the author(s).
The samurai feel made me think of Itsuwaribito, which I also enjoyed!
I loved the romance between Kagetora and Beni! At first I thought it was too much of instant romance, but later as I kept realizing more and more about their story and being connected over a large span of time--everything made sense and they are seriously a beautiful couple, fated to be together!
Life isn’t black and white. There’s no right or wrong. Or evil vs good. Every person has a good and bad side. Good people can do “bad” things. This story is showing me that. I truly understand why the characters are the way they are after seeing their backgrounds. I’m hoping the best for everyone.
**Sadly, this is the last physical volume for this series in English since Tokyopop went under at the time. But I will read the rest digitally. This story is too good not to continue. So, if you come across this series in the wild, go ahead a buy it! It’s definitely worth it!!! I’m going to cherish the physical copies I have even if it’s incomplete!
Upon reread, this series is even better than I remembered. The first volume seems to rush through the plot, but it finds its stride when Beni and Kagetora travel to the past and are separated. The little breadcrumbs of foreshadowing adds a layer of intrigue, and just keeps building. It's a damn shame that this is the last volume published in English, because I want to own every single volume of this beautiful, criminally underrated shoujo romance.

Okaaaaaay.... This is starting to become a Doctor Who story or Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.... Oi, time-traveling hurts my head! But I must keep reading!!!
I gotta say the first volume of this manga was OK, I wasn't loving the time traveling all that much but I gave the series another chance and two hooked me and now I've finished reading seven. I love this series its funny, its sweet, there is romance and as you get into later volumes a lot more action. Now I have to suffer and wait for the next volume like all the other fans.
Still in the past, Beni wonders if she'll ever get back to her own time. All the while the older Kagetora is still looking for her. But the more he returns back to the present, he notices something is different. What he finds is well, not one but two familiar faces. Got to say that was an interesting twist near the end. Another good volume in the series.
Shinobi Life is my favorite series that I worked on for TOKYOPOP. It's been months now since the news went out that the company was shutting down, and I'm still crushed that I won't get to adapt any more of this one.
