I found my brother's murderer, by becoming his next victim. The asshat killed me, too. But little does he know--I came back. Again. Now he's going down. But before I can destroy him, I need to resolve the little issue of me not dying. That's twice now I've cheated death. Something's not right. Graves doesn't think I'm a reaper, and the ghosts seem to agree with him. They say that I'm different. That I'm more. All I know is that things are getting real weird in Farrow's Square and dying is hungry work. Where's a truckload of Hostess cupcakes when a girl needs them? Contains mature themes.

Reaping Havoc was an unputdownable and bewitching read. My eyes did not want to leave the pages. I can't believe I read this book so fast.
The second installment in The Grimm Brotherhood Books deals with the ultimate betrayal that Graves and Salem discovered in book one. This is the aftermath and the lengths they go through to get justice and makes things right. Salem also discovers what she is and it was quite a shocker. It explains all of her heightened abilities and the little fact that she can see and talk to ghosts. With all of this happening, the progress of her relationship with Graves is put on the back burner but they are with each other lost of the time and they are forever bound.
I was starting to forget how witty and sarcastic Salem is. Her comebacks provided me with much needed laughs and it plain brilliant. I loved how protective Graves was of her even when she was exasperating. He wasn't as aloof towards her in this book. Her feelings were constantly shown. It did take them a long while to get together but it was more than worth it. I can't wait for the next book. More Graves and Salem!
I love the sass and moxy of this heroine. There have been so many times that I have laughed out loud with this series. This book almost felt like an ending until the very last page, which provided the lead into the next one.
I honestly thought that the first book was incredible and that nothing would top it, but after reading this one, I can say that I was in for a hell of a lot more surprises and the twists just kept coming. Both Meg Anne and Kel Carpenter are amazingly talented and they just hit the mark yet again. I can’t find the words to describe this book, but what I can say is that you will experience so many emotions that you’ll have no idea what’s going to hit you. I found myself laughing at quite a few parts, but mainly due to Salem’s Aunt, she is one amazingly hilarious character. I honestly think that both Kel and Meg should write a separate book for her and spill all her secrets, I’m sure that will go down quite well. But on a serious note, I couldn’t complain about a single thing with this book and that’s mainly due to how well planned both Meg and Kel were when it came to drafting this book, and you can see that they wanted to bring out another amazing book and honestly, in my experience, they’ve delivered that. I love the relationship that surrounds Salem and Graves (her twins’ best friend), it’s so different and unexpected, but I love how Salem is determined to be her own person and not let anyone fight her own battles. If the next book is as amazing as this and the first book, then I have no idea what to expect because with this book it’s hit a complete new level and I can’t get over how they ended the book. Seriously, if you’ve not read this book, I would highly recommend giving this book a read (but only once you’ve read the first one), trust me when I say you don’t want to miss out on such a great book.
Salem is just starting to get the hang of things, but now that she’s back and living again all thanks to Graves’ brother (James), she is determined to kill him…. She isn’t willing to let him get away with it, but now with Graves tied to her for good and more secrets coming out, there seems to be a lot that Salem can handle. With time running out now that more people are getting killed and no one knowing who the killer really is (other than Graves and Salem) they are both fighting to take down the true killer, but when James leads them into a trap things are about to a little more complicated. Will they be able to get to the truth of everything and what will happen when secrets are revealed to those who shouldn’t have a clue when it comes to the supernatural world?
There are some things in this series I just don't buy. That there would be all these supernatural creatures in town and family members wouldn't realize it. Just don't buy that more people within their own family wouldn't figure it out.
Then I don't buy the the murderer could have gotten away with killing all these people, even with the help of another "monster" without someone picking up on it before now. Particularly when he was so young. And why target the female lead's family?
The spooky vibes continue in this book and I'm loving it. Can I please live in their world? Pretty please, with a pair of perfectly pink pants on top?
This one was even better than book one. So much happens and we learn a lot, about what Salem really is (careful, it's *drum roll* deadly) and about what happened to her dead family members.
The Brotherhood is mostly useless and they don't believe her when she's telling the truth, so Salem, with her more evolved powers, makes a hasty decision in order to get information on the werewolf who's still on the prowl and picking off Supes one by one. That might cost her more than she's ready to give. But will she be able to put all the pieces back together before time runs out?
I sense a disturbance in the cupcake force. Too little frosty brethren devoured. Must be remedied immediately.
Compared to the first book there's a noticeable lack of food in this one (but I still got hungry and had to take an eating break). The poor characters had no time to eat from all the running around they've been doing.
And Salem got more serious. Spooky, like I said.
Not-Morticia Gretel is really growing on me. Aurora too, with her endless supply of popcorn.
Someone does die (well, a lot of people die) but I'm really upset over that one. WE NEED MORE INFO.
James really should've been punched harder. Repeatedly. With bricks to the face.
I wish Tamsin had a bigger role, I need more of her sass in my life.
ESME ROCKS HERE TOO. She's still crazy but in a good way. I LOVE HER ENDING.
Shep the blue demon sheep isn't back :( He is but not in the cute lil form. I'M SO READY FOR MORE SHEP IN THE FINAL BOOK.
A nice change is that Graves is the one pursuing Salem for once. I don't know how she didn't give in sooner. HE COOKS, SALEM. C O O K S.
You know what I also wanna see? Salem and Graves getting that fancy dinner. Make it happen book three.
It got better, like WAY better than the first book. Salem is better also, she is now a badass, and not someone who was sarcastic and joking at all times, including the times where she was supposed to be serious, to be actually 'badass'. So, yeah, big applause to her, and for the story also, it got me invested ;)
In this installment, Salem and Graves are dealing with what happened in the previous story. It is important that you read/listen to this series in order as the ARC continues from storyline to relationships development.
We tackle the betrayal and also discover what Salem really is. It was unique and certainly provides answers to some of her strange abilities.
The story was action-packed between handling trouble and discoveries. All of this pushed the relationship development to the side, but listeners still get a taste.
Salem is snarky, opinionated and fierce, making for some witty dialogue and perhaps frustration on Graves’ part. I like how they tackle things head on. Secondary characters add to the story and together they form a motley crew.
We get a few intense scenes filled with danger but there is plenty of over the top humor, wit and sarcastic fun to keep things light and fun.
Holli Jackson does well with these stories and her narration was top-notch from voices to tone.
Gah! Where is the ten star review button??? I am serious, this series just gets better and better! I love the suspense as well as the humor. Salem is one of the best heroines I have ever had the pleasure of reading! I love her bravery and her snark. This book will draw you in from the very beginning! I was so engrossed with this story that I read the entire thing in just one sitting! And that ending? GAH! I need the next book ASAP!
Reaping Havoc Kel Carpenter and Meg Anne is the second book in the The Grimm Brotherhood series.
Salem’s no nonsense attitude is in full swing with this book, as her and Graves do all they can to find out what the hell is happening in Farrow’s Square and who Salem really is. And throwing Esme into the mix makes the story even more entertaining. The end threw me, and I was so thankful I had book 3 ready to dive into.
Listen, if dying twice and coming back doesn’t make you the ultimate badass, then what does? In Wreaking Havoc, Kel Carpenter delivers a supernatural snark-fest with a side of vengeance, a sprinkle of mystery, and enough attitude to fuel an entire season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Our girl here? She’s on a mission. Murdered by the same jerk who killed her brother, she’s back with a vengeance—literally. But just when you think it’s a straightforward revenge plot, boom! Plot twist: apparently, coming back from the dead isn’t normal. Who knew? Enter Graves, the broody guy who seems to know more about what’s going on with her than she does, and a chorus of ghosts who are like, “Girl, you’re different.”
The vibe? It’s chaos, cupcakes, and cackles. The writing is sharp, the banter is top-tier, and the plot moves at a breakneck pace. And our heroine? She’s the perfect mix of salty, sassy, and stubborn, with just enough vulnerability to keep you rooting for her. Honestly, I want to be her when I grow up—minus the dying part, obviously.
Graves is the kind of brooding mystery man you love to hate but secretly want to hug, and their dynamic is electric. The ghosts? A delightful touch of comic relief in a story full of high stakes and creepy vibes.
Final verdict? 7/10 for undead vengeance, laugh-out-loud moments, and a heroine who’s too stubborn to stay dead. Wreaking Havoc is a wild ride through Farrow’s Square, and trust me, you’ll want a front-row seat. Just make sure you have a stash of cupcakes handy—dying might be hungry work, but so is devouring this book in one sitting.
Such a fun story, just a fast paced and fun as book one. This one did seem to have less humor for me (maybe just less over the top humor), and it does have some really great moments. The one line that made me laugh out load is a spoiler but let me say it was perfect comedic timing, LOL. I still really enjoyed the characters especally Esme, that lady is gold. There were also some somber moments making this story feel a tad bit deeper emotionally. I did miss Sheep Shep in this stoy, he really was a favorite in book one. I did enjoy this book very much and will wait with excitment for the last and final story. I have a feeling its going to be epic!!
Waiting for this second installment felt like forever! Finally, I sunk my fangs in it and boy what a tasty story it was!!!
Where to start? Right from the heading of chapter 1 Salem's snark and sass had me cracking up, earning quite the confusing looks from my kids (no, kids, that's not a book for you, at least not for a few more years!). From that point on, I barely left my spot on the couch (unless you count a coffee refill break). Not a dull moment throughout the story. There's so much going on, the action is almost non-stop, the banter between Salem and Graves delightful, their chemistry sizzling hot (please don't read while in the presence of others), the plot twists heart-stopping. I finished it in under a day, and the conclusion... it almost gave me a heart attack! No, not literally. But to quote Salem's brother's ghost "It's not all over. It's just the beginning".
And now I have to wait for two more months for the next installment... How will I survive???
It’s been a while since I read the first book, and perhaps that has affected my enjoyment of this book. I just wasn’t all that enthused with the characters, or the plot, for the most part. I did like the resolution and the ending - even if I hate cliffhanger endings - but for the most part I just didn’t connect with what was happening with the characters (although Esme was such a bad a$$).
You don't know how much I like Salem. She's real badass in this book and her sarcasam is what I live for. Did she have to lecture the reapers while they were in in-between? Of course! She couldn't wait to say "I told you so" even though they had bigger problems. The chemistry between Graves and Salem is just wow. He's really a great guy.
This book is better than chocolate! Sassy, loudmouth, daring, don’t give a crap but with a MASSIVE heart! Now that’s Salem and she’s my type of girl! A fantastic book that had me reading in between my tea and lunch breaks (sometimes even sneakily during working hours), it was just that good. And the title, it says it all. Fantastic. Book 2 contains loads of action as the Reapers have to discover what or who is behind all the killings and Salem kicks butt! Graves is in the midst of this and is smouldering as EVER. Some crazy as hell characters and I loved every minute of it. Gob-smacking cliff-hanger though! Need book 3 like yesterday!
No. Really. I want an awesome yet loony gun toting aunt just like her! Lol. And a Salem. And Tamsin. Ah heck throw in a Graves too and I'm on cloud nine! 🤣 I devoured this book and can't wait for the next!
Salem knows the killer behind her brother's and father's murders, but she still needs to deal with him. Moreover, she now knows more about herself and what she's supposed to do. She's not a Grimm as she originally though, but something more.
I gave this book a chance after book 1 didn't leave me completely convinced. However, although I cannot get into the story, I hate leaving the series as there is only one book left to read.
For the love of cupcakes everywhere this book is delicious! Salem and Graves are sour and sweet and I just can't get enough of them. And her crazy friend Tamsin is a hoot. But it's not all laughs. We learn so much more about who Salem is and more about her family. And James is just as much a douche as ever. Time to do some butt kicking.
Love that the book started off right where book one left off. Salem has to overcome a world that is male dominated and show her true worth among the reapers. She learns more about herself. The more she learns the more questions she find. Esme is a true fighter. She’s kept it hidden all along. Has great lead up to an awesome and surprising fight scene. It does leave off on a cliff hanger but a good one! Kel and Meg have done it again!
This book freaking killed it!!! Ha! I just man that was a ride..... An amazing ride but a roller coaster of awesomeness. The twist in the story, the bad guy, and the story behind him were tenuous and something I pieced together but not to it’s full extent which was pleasantly surprising! I loved this story and the ending one made me clap with glee and two I straight cried my eyes out but I am so so so ready for the next one already!
OMG!!! This book was fantastic. Continuing the story from Reapers Blood the book does not disappoint. There is plenty of action, humor and lust!! The build up between Salem and Graves is intense and so worth the wait. You get to know a little more about the Brotherhood in this book and a little more about a couple of the characters in the Brotherhood. This book left off with "small" cliffhanger and I can not wait to see what book 3 has in store for us. I highly recommend reading this series!
Salem and Graves just keep getting better and better, I really love them, the tension between them, just wow. Salem is so bad, I love her! They finaly find the werewolf but that is not the end.. It has a realy great twist ! I'm dying to read the next one!
Salem’s sassy and “I give no f***’s” attitude has me falling further in love with her character and this wild adventure she calls life!
More twists and turns in this action packed book! The plot has definitely thickened and I can’t wait for this next book because things are about to get WILD!
There are some interesting plot twists here and I enjoyed reading this book very much. Another positive point is that our main characters finally got to it, it has taken a real long time for something to really happen between the two. I liked the story but I’m not sure if I really wan to read the next book, to be honest, it felt like the ending of this book was enough.
Salem Kaine discovered her brother’s murderer—but only when he killed her and her reaper partner Alex Graves. However, she returns to her body after James tossed them in a dumpster and as a benefit of the blood binding punishment Graves awakens as well. First, they must work out what Salem really is by consulting a witch. Darla explains she is a Daughter of Death and that she is being hunted by a monster in an endless reincarnation cycle. If that and the growing collection of ghosts that interrupt her day were not distracting enough, they lose the surprise element granted by their resurrection leading the rash abduction of James. Deciding what to do with Graves younger brother is complicated by rising sexual tension, a need for vengeance and a lack of proof regarding years of betrayal against the brotherhood. Meanwhile most supes are distracted by a rampaging werewolf in Farrows Square. James escapes blaming his crimes on Salem and Alex and leading to disaster. * * * * *-------------* * * * *-------------* * * * * This follow -up entry maintains the tone and pacing of the first. It is short, easy to read in a single setting and filled with sarcasm. Esme is a hoot and we all mourn for the missing possessed sheep doll. There are too many swear words and steam for it to embrace a young adult label, but it carries many of those childish vibes. Your mood and tolerance of the main character will be the factors affect enjoyment of the pages. I can see the controversy. Personally, I didn’t think it was just the MC who was combative, flawed, or unlikable. The whole town is power-hungry, chauvinistic, insane, violent, or befuddling. Thus, it felt intentional to me. The narrative is action or revelation packed, mimicking a soap opera. You are here for the journey and the chaos. That said, there is another nonending and lots of unaddressed questions. I’ll have to see how they try to wrap things up in the next book.
