Mallory is a baby vamp. Not an actual baby because ewww. She’s only been a vamp for about a month or so and she’s adjusting fairly well to her new vamphood. She even has a new business as a life coach to even newer vamps than herself. So when her first client wakes up beside a dead guy, Mallory and her motley crew get to work figuring out why someone would set up Gladys for a murder rap.

I have to tell you, if you’re looking for a light-hearted read that has humor, a mystery, some hijinks, action and great characters then look no further. This is a story that doesn’t take itself seriously and it makes for a fun ride. Plus, mystery to solve! I loved the first book and I love this one. I’m looking forward to continuing this series though I intend to save the next books for when I need a pick-me-up.

I sort of liked this one except why make The MC, Mallory, so dumb, it’s like she went from this smart woman who suddenly became a dumb vampire unable to think her way out of a paper bag .. whyyyyyy???

It was a good mystery, getting to know more about Alex’ affliction was an eye opener, and learning more about the magical community and the magical beings was good world building. Now please bring back the intelligent vamp in the next book 😒👀

While sitting through her newbie orientation for the Society, Mallory receives a panicked call from her afterlife coaching client, Gladys. Seems Gladys found a dead body in her bedroom, and worse than that, when Mallory and Alex go there to find out what is going on, the dead body turns out to be the Society's chief security officer. If they report this, Gladys is sure to be convicted of murder, so they decide to hide the crime for now and investigate further. This is the second book in the Vegan Vamp series and was a great read. The main characters of Mallory, Alex and Wembley have a great relationship, full of fun quips and conversation patter. Think Stephanie Plum as a supernatural! I loved the twists and turns in the story until the final solution. The addition of Boone, the tracking dog, was fun and I really loved the talking sword. I am looking forward to the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I didn’t like this one as much as the first in the series, but I’m not sure if it truly wasn’t as good, or if I didn’t like the audio version.

The main character, Mallory annoyed me in this one and she didn’t in the previous book. In the previous book I thought she had self confidence and competence. In this book she seemed like a ditz a lot of the time and I couldn’t figure out why Alex let her help him.

I am really enjoying this series. The whitty banter and the quirky main character make this a real page turner. While the story is over all hopeful and light, the ending has a great edge of your seat climax. I can't wait to read the third book to find out what happens next.

I thought the first book was cute but after reading this one, I'm done with the series. Mallory was smarter in the first book. Maybe the lack of blood is making her act like a silly goose.

Rookie vampire and sleuth Mallory Andrews is still learning how to exist as a vampire when she gets a call from her afterlife coaching client, Gladys. Gladys has found a dead man in her home and has no idea how he got there. Fearing that her client will be charged with murder, Mallory and enforcer, Alex, investigate what happened. When more bodies turn up things get tricky.

This is the second installment in this entertaining series, and Mallory is as funny, naïve, and impulsive as she was in book one. We also get a deeper glimpse into the challenges facing the secretive and intriguing Alex. There isn’t a long list of suspects in the murder, so it wasn’t hard to identify the killer. The fun part is how Mallory manages to fumble her way through the investigation to find answers. If you’re looking for a light, fun read, this is a great choice.

"The Client's Conundrum: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery" (Vegan Vamp Mysteries Book 2) by Cate Lawley pretty much starts where the last novel left off. Mallory Andrews is a not the typical vampire. Besides being turned without consent, she lacks certain characteristics that most vampires seem to possess. Her fangs are tiny, the sight of blood makes her want to puke, and she's always hungry. Mallory is making the most of her new enhancements and attempting to help others adjust too. But when her first client wakes up to a dead body, Mallory and her closest new friends will do everything in their power to find the real killer.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel. It's easy to follow, fast paced, and a fun read.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

3.5 🌟

"If you rule out conflicted passion and guilt and all those other complicated feelings we have when we sleep with the wrong guy, then where's the motive?"
Alex choked.
"What?"
"You sleep with the wrong guys a lot?"

Mmmmmmh. I know we're getting there but slowly, slowly, oh so very slowly... It's still tons of fun anyway but I am keeping my fingers closed for some romance in the next one, or if I'm being more realistic, in book 4 or 5? Mallory is slowly realising that she's not indifferent to our favourite wizard and Alex is being obvious enough in my opinion, I'm sure he's just being difficult but knows damn well he's attracted to her. Darling, it SHOWS.
Some flirting coming our way perhaps.... oh one can dream!

Baby Vamp is Evolving

Mallory the Vegan Vamp is a new vampire but she is different from all other vampires. She doesn't like blood and gets stick from the smell, sight, or idea of it. I like her smartass character and her relationship with her friends and Tangwystl her magic living sword. Yes, she can talk with the sword and call it to her hand when she needs it. This witch like power is also an anomaly. Is she a vamp or something more? She finds that solving the murder mystery and protecting her friends brings her satisfaction and enjoyment. I look forward to the next book.

Love this series

This writer just catches you from the first page. It is funny but also revolves around a good, well thought out mystery with surprises galore. Can't wait to read the next. From baby vamp that is nothing like a vampire and may be part witch. She can not drink all
Blood but loves veggie juice, to witches and succubus. I see where romance might be starting between Mallory and Alex. She is also learning to use a magical sword and inherits a rather large dog. Wembley and Bradley help with the infestation of a dead body found in her clients bed. If you want to know more read, read, and relish this adventure.

Okay so she isn't a normal vampire and her sleuthing isn't great but her heart is all into the task.

Wonderful! Hunger is her ever present companion as blood does nothing for her but make her sick. A death has her reaching for her sleuthing skills. Okay it's more a case of the blind leading the blind but her heart is all into the task. How was the murder carried out and by whom? Her character just gets better and better with even more anomalies being thrown up as too why she isn't a normal vampire. The plot is fun, fast paced, humorous and with great dialogue between the characters. A fabulous read that you will race to finish.

I ended up reading the entire series as it is available. I find this book extremely satisfactory and it is a surprise that this author went under my radar for so long and that I had at least a very first book in the series for a very long time and didn't pick it up to read it. All I can say is shame on me. This is book 2 and it is on par with book one I have read all of the books so I will go through and rate them all..nothing hard to read no embarrassing scenes just plain fun. If you can imagine yourself getting used to being a vampire our author does a nice job.

Another hilarious book, rather tongue in cheek.

Mallory the Vegan Vampire is moving on in the world, and is still getting used to her new state of being. She's decided her new profession is that of "life coach" and her first client is a vampire. (Death coach?)

While she's in her first orientation meeting, she gets an emergency call from her first client. She's woken up next to a dead body, swears she didn't do it... and it's up to Mallory to clear her name.

May be a potential underlying romance in the background, but if so, it's quietly in the background for now.

I love the Vegan Vamp!

Mallory is no ordinary vampire. For starters, she cannot abide blood. Thank goodness that spicy vegetable juice keeps her going. She and Alex continue to find other ways Mallory differs from other vamps. They happen to learn them as they search for killers. Dead undead bodies seem to find Mallory. In this book, we also meet Boone, a bloodhound who has a lot to add to a crimefighting team. Great fun. Great characters. Great story.

Fun Series

I’m getting Stephanie Plum vibes with supernatural twist. Our main character has no idea what she’s doing as an investigator but it’s entertaining to go along for the ride. Her “partner” Alex is an experienced investigator and seems to find her nonsense mostly entertaining. Oh and Alex is definitely my new book boyfriend.

If you’re looking for something light and silly I would recommend this series.

Thoroughly engaging

Not having read the first book prior to this one, there were some holes that were filled adequately in the course of this book without rehashing the previous storyline. The characters were engaging and make you want to continue reading so you can know where they go from here. A cute idea and execution with the protagonist, her sidekicks have depth and are likeable without being too much.

I enjoyed the first book but didn't buy the second. Now it was free, I grabbed it. But it has been quite a while since and things weren't explained properly at the start of book 2.
I still liked Mallory's quirkiness but it was a bit eye-rolling from time to time.
The plot... Hmm, not much to remember. I would have loved to see more of tangwystle, the talking sword. Gladys was a bit annoying. Alex and Wesley seemed interesting.

More fun with a "fluffy bunny" of a vampire who can't tolerate blood and lives on fruit and vegetable smoothies. Imagine a paranormal Stephanie Plum with less explosions, and you get the mood of this series set in Austin, TX. Solving the murder of the CEO of the supernatural Society is complicated, and the suspects are many. Great characters include Boone, a hound dog trained in smelling out bad guys.

A pretty good sequel to the original Vegan Vamp story. In this case, the CEO of the supernatural world has been found in the bed of a friend of our protagonist. What follows is an investigation into the womanizing golem and (more importantly) how many girlfriends that love interest Alex has been having. It's an enjoyable cozy mystery even if it's not got much to say about vampires other than they exist.

Very Enjoyable

This book was a fast-paced, extremely enjoyable read. Mallory and Alex are back on the scene with a new case to solve. If they fail, Gladys' ( Mallory's client) life will be forfeit. Can Alex and Mallory figure out who the murderer is? And why is a policeman suddenly interested in Mallory?? You'll have to read it to find out!

Mallory is an enigma

Mallory seems to be developing different powers ad she goes along. She is a completely different type of vampire. With the help of Alex and Bradley, Mallory sets out to find the killer who framed Gladys and finds out more about herself in the process. Bring on more.

Really good

I am liking this series more and more as I read each book. They are fast reads and have lots of twists and turns. With each book we learn more and more about Mallory 's vamp enhanced powers and the secrets Mr fancy pants has. She's gaining more and more friends. Her circle is growing. On to the next book

Wow

These books just get better and more funnier, I hope they're meant to be funny, or it could just be me lmao 😁

Mallory is coming more into her own, which is getting more out there, okay just weird as the days go on.

Liking that they pick up where the last one finished and at the minute no great time jump 👍👍👍👍

Learning on the fly

Another murder has this duo in a rush to find a killer but the deceased is a golum and there's a whole lot of clues to check out. Magic helps but Mallory is still learning what she can do. Alex is comprised & Mallory has to talk him down. It's a whirlwind story that moves along at a good clip.

Vegan Vamp 2

This was interesting: Who was/were killing the paranormal beings? This was interesting that they were trying to find food that a Vampire could eat that had a very serious aversion to blood. Kept you reading till almost the end to know how, why and who was doing the killings.

Mallory to the rescue

Mallory seems a little dizzy in this one. But she hits the mark again. She even saves her partner's life in the end. Suspicious behaviors persist leading to the possibility she has some witch in her. Good read leads to being a little obsessed with the book.

As always, Cate Lawley is a spectacular author for fun, easy entertaining reads. Her characters are a delight, the humour is always on point, and I adore her world-building for paranormal lore.

In the space of 4-5 books, she's become my absolute go-to author when I need something I know I'm going to love, that will keep me grinning and feeling good.
