Not my cup of tea. I was hoping a book with less reliance on indigenous American traditions, something more like The Illustrated Bestiary: Guidance and Rituals from 36 Inspiring Animals. I don't want to assume anything about Palmer's background as to whether there is cultural appropriation at play here, but to use this information as a white person would feel uncomfortable.
This was another book that I had for a long time... but it was also one of the first ones that I sold off. I once used it often, as a reference for animal symbolism and for identifying correspondences. I wasn't convinced by everything in this book, however, and as time progressed, I started referring to a wider array of sources and moved away from using this.
An exploration into the myths, legends and magic that surrounds some of the best known species. This is a very readable text and thoroughly interesting and informative with a number of surprising bits of info and links to modern practices. A very enjoyable read
