She fell in love with an ideal. Too bad the man that she meets is so different.

Jack Dixon knew his mother was right. It was time he married. He'd go along
with whatever she writes in her letter to the matchmaker.

Priscilla Pringle fell in love with the man who wrote such a tender letter. Too
bad that when she meets the man in Missouri, he is the complete opposite. She'd leave and return immediately. But what would happen to the orphaned piglet she is bottle feeding?

Will she stay after the piggy is weaned? Is Jack the only one who needs to change
to make their marriage work?

A young lady in the 1870s who moves to meet a potential husband -- but falls in love with his pig?! I'll admit that the premise, along with the pig staring out on the cover, gave me the giggles. I told my daughters about the book, and two of them expressed an interest in sharing it as a read-aloud. And so we did, using Instagram phone messaging. Many happy evenings were spent seeing whether Priscilla would fall for Jack as well as his porcine pal.

"Piggy Wiggy" ended up playing far less of a role in the book than I expected. But we enjoyed the tale of Priscilla, Jack, and various other town characters (we used "voices" for each one). There are even a few nods to "Charlotte's Web," which I thought was a fun addition. If you're a fan of historic romantic fiction, you'll enjoy "Priscilla's Piggy."

Historical Romance is one of my favorite genres to read. Priscilla's Piggy by Marisa Masterson is the most recent book in the genre that I have read. It is Book 34 in the Westward Home and Hearts Mail-Order Brides, which various authors write. This book is the first book that I have read by author Marisa Masterson.

The time is 1870 and Jack Dixon has returned from War and is exhausted. His Mother is continually telling him he needs a wife. Jack agrees to allow his mom to sign up for a Mail Order Bride. Priscilla Pringle received the letter that Jack's Mom wrote about Jack. She falls in love with the man in the letter before meeting him. She travels to Missouri to meet Jack and become his "Mail Order Bride". Priscilla has grown to love the Piggy on the Farm and has been bottle-feeding it. Priscilla understands that Jack is suffering from the effects of War and feels that she can help him through some of that. Will Priscilla stay and allow the relationship to grow? Will Jack be able to grow and be like the man in the letter that Priscilla grew to love? Do Jack and Priscilla ever grow to love one another with real love?

I LOVE Mail Order Bride books and this is probably one of the sweetest ones that I have ever read. I love the Historical time of the book and the fact that Jack was a war Hero. Priscilla is such a kind-hearted woman and I LOVE how the Piggy changed her heart about raising pigs. The book is a fast read as it is only 139 pages. It is also a sweet story that grabbed my attention from the very first chapter. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves Historical Romance books! GREAT BOOK!

Priscilla’s Piggy is part of the Westward Home and Hearts series and is written by Marisa Masterson. The series is written by multiple authors. All books can be read as stand alone books. I have been a huge fan of this author for a few years now. Her books are always such fun reads. The cover on this one is my favorite of all of her books.

Jack and Priscilla are matched. Jack's mom has been urging him to get married. Priscilla falls hard for the man behind the letters. However, when she arrives the man she thought she was marrying is so different then the one that was writing. Priscilla left behind a not so great life. She really wanted to get away from her father. She knows that she may be safer with Jack then back at home.

Enter the pig. A little runt that needs a lot of extra attention. This is the reason that Priscilla stays - and it helps Jack and Priscilla to get to know each other despite the horrid first impressions. Jack is really struggling post war.

The author has crafted a wonderful historical novella that I could not put down. The characters are well written and you will find yourself lost in the story immediately.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

This is a sweet and heart warming story full of human angst. This is Priscilla and Jack's story (as well as an orphaned little piggy), and the character development is outstanding and will have you cheering for both of them. Priscilla has formed an opinion in her mind as to what attributes the ideal husband will portray. Jack returns from the war worn down and hardened, and really does not want to be bothered by anyone and yet his mother keeps insisting he needs a wife. He finally agrees to let her send for a MOB and he tells her he really doesn't care what she puts in the letter to the potential bride. When Priscilla arrives much to her dismay and disappointment, Jack is nothing like the man portrayed in the letters to her; the man she fell in love with. She would like to leave but what will happen to the little orphan piggy that she is bottle feeding; should she stay until the piggy is weaned. Will Jack and Priscilla discover that they have more in common than they do differences? Will they ever have a HEA? Read this charming story to find out; I know you will enjoy it as much a I did.

This was a surprising little book that was full of romance and even suspense with twists and turns. Priscilla needs to leave her father's home due to a bad match her not so good father is trying to force upon her. So, she takes matters into her own hands and signs up to be a mail order bride.

Her husband to be, Jack Dixon, has just gotten back from the military and he is haunted by his war years. He is not sure he needs a wife, but his mother persuades him to get one to help her around the house and farm.

What happens is a whirlwind marriage and a very eventful first few months as Priscilla deals with Jack's war demons while knowing nothing about the danger that is stalking after her. Her family is full of some dark secrets. I enjoyed this story by a new to me author.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

n easy five plus stars!
( this reminded me in ways of a Gunsmoke episode or of a great western movie with some great Faith mixed in!)
A “plain” girl wanting more than what was offered. A man coming back from being in the Army seeing things no one should have to see, and a mother whose love for her son knew best for him. Can the two overcome and begin to love one another?
The author incorporates God and His Grace freely given to us. Even when we feel we don’t deserve it. How people shouldn’t judge all Christians by the actions of a few. How God can help you overcome. Such an inspiration to read!
This author takes you by the hand with the first few pages and you become part of the story! Romance, a Mamas love, blind love, horrible hate, family reunion, a little bit of true History and Gods guidance and love! You can taste the hot coffee, and smell the pig farm. And love the people who surround you on your trip into this precious story

I love a good mail-order bride or marriage of convenience story and this one is so off the wall that it was hilarious! I honestly have to say I don’t love bottle babies. Now, hear me out. I’m talking about animals for one. But also, you have to get up at all hours to feed them and then they’re annoying. They constantly want attention and are often too friendly when they’re older. I mean, yes, they are super cute but I’m not a fan of having to bottle-feed animals.

That all said, this is the most adorable book ever!

Okay, and the love story is good too. And it’s funny. Really I loved the book!

I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

Priscilla's Piggy, part of the multi author series, Westward Home and Heart Mail Order Brides series, is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Marisa Masterson. I thought it was a fun and entertaining story to read. It was so sweet that made me smile throughout. I enjoyed getting to know Priscilla and Jack and seeing what would become of them and the little piggy. A good and heartwarming tale of faith and hope. It is slightly predictable but still definitely worth a read.

I am giving Priscilla's Piggy four stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading quick and clean Historic Romance. I would love to read more by Marisa Masterson in the future.

I received a copy of Priscilla's Piggy from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Marisa Masterson has always been able to grab your attention right from the beginning of her book. From Jack/Johnson’s arrival in Jefferson City, to “Reverend” Jedidiah Pringle’s ranting about pigs and second wives, to Priscilla fleeing a forced marriage, you know you will not be able to put this book down. Ma Alma with her tough talk and heart of gold is a needed bit of humor. There are a few surprises and twists to keep you on your toes.

Remarkable Read!!

I have enjoyed reading this incredible story of Priscilla and Jake, it had me laughing, crying, anxious, with so many emotions! Piggy Wiggy was an excellent edition to this story! Marisa takes you on a journey of adventure, excitement, tragedy, joy and pain with a lot of fun and romance! War changes a man but a woman can heal his heart with her faith and trust! Love this series and I would highly recommend reading this story for yourself! ❤️📖

Priscilla and Jack

This book was the definition of “eh”. Too much happened but at the same time it was rather boring. The scenes jumped over each other and the number of villains grew to the point I couldn’t keep it straight. Honestly it would have been better to have one or two villains with a streamlined story. And I would have rather learned more about Alan than I cared about Jack. Alan really was a shining star and so was the pig. The rest was just a tangled mess.

Priscilla and Jack (and a baby pig)

Jack's mother wants him to be happy. Priscilla comes to Missouri in response to a letter Jack's mother wrote. Will Priscilla and Jack be happy together? There's excitement and a cute little baby piggy. Such a great story that I had to read it straight through.

A pig farmer

Priscilla was escaping from her father and his choice of grooms. He was trying to mentally adjust to life after the war. Could he open up to her and calm those nightmares and thoughts? Would her father's choice chase after her or would her father? She had been taught pig farming was horrible! Maybe sinful. Now she was to be pig farmers wife.

This was a fast and fun read! This is a mother inferring in her son life. If a reader likes mail order brides then this book is a perfect read. I really liked all the characters except Priscilla’s father. He is unlike any preacher that I have ever met. Let’s not forget the piggy. I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

Priscilla

Priscilla marries a pig farmer. Escaping her father and the man he intends her to marry is first on her list. Finding her intended is a moody pig farmer is last. She never expects the life of a farmer’s wife is all she needs.

This was a sweet mail-order bride story. I loved Priscilla’s kind heart, not only towards her husband, but also to a piglet that would have died without her. I liked how Priscilla was able to help Jack work through the nightmares he had from the war and to know that life is worth living. I liked seeing their relationship grow and seeing them being willing to do anything for each other, even risking their own lives. I thought this was a cute story and I really loved that pig.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors.  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

Evil follows!

This is an exciting story. Priscilla thought she had escaped her father's deranged plans to force an unwanted marriage. Even though she becomes a mail order bride, trouble followed and Jack has to protect her while fighting his own demons.

A great Sunday afternoon read! Pricilla's faith despite an abusive father that has posed as a Preacher is uplifting. Piggy Wiggly adds a bit of fun to this clean and sweet novel.
