A fact-filled book about sharks that children can read and understand. Many different sharks are talked about with pictures of each shark that is mentioned.
This is a good book to bridge from simple books to chapter books.

I found this book yesterday (along with five others) when I was going through my file box. I got super excited, because my mum and I used to read this book all of the time when I was a kid.

Summary: This text presents information about sharks and different shark species to young readers. It presents information with the use of illustrations and labels to point out specific information.

Review: Though it is meant for young readers, I wish this book had more features of informational text available for early exposure, such as a table on contents. This is an easily approachable text for young students, however. The illustrations make it seem as if it is a story book.

Mentor text: This series may be used to present pertinent scientific information in the classroom to accompany specific units of study. It can also be used for Writers' Workshop "All about" units in which students are expected to research and write about a specific topic.
