An inside look at one of the world's most successful real estate companies RE/MAX was founded over 30 years ago in Denver, Colorado, based upon a revolutionary idea for a new system of selling real estate. Since then, RE/MAX has experienced over 380 straight months of explosive growth. In Everybody Wins, authors Phil Harkins and Keith Hollihan reveal how RE/MAX has achieved such phenomenal success by examining the company's strategy, culture, and leadership. Harkins -- with the full cooperation of RE/MAX -- led a research team that closely studied RE/MAX as well as comparable fast-growing companies. The team observed critical meetings, attended conventions, dug through historical archives, and conducted extensive interviews with more than 50 key RE/MAX leaders. The outcome is an insightful and engaging account of one of the world's most successful companies. Order your copy today.
This book is about tequila and Real Estate. I'm kidding, sort of. Closed door meetings did (and probably still do) involve heavy drinking as a thought provoker. This book is about vision and determination to make that vision come to life.
Favourite quote:
“Discovering that difference all came down to a simple but powerful idea. Liniger knew that RE/MAX was not in the real estate business; it was in the real estate agent business. Its true customer was not the home buyer in the real estate market, but the real estate agent meeting the needs of that home buyer.” You see, when you understand something like this in your business, is when you actually win.
This was a fun ride and shows the power of creating a dream of a better model. Selling the dream and keeping it alive kept remax afloat in hard times. It also led to phenomenal growth once it took off. A lot of lessons to be learned in branding and leading a brand with vision and fortitude.
Because my husband works for RE/MAX Results and we had just come back from a RE/MAX convention in Las Vegas where I actually met some of the people involved in this book (and saw all the others when they were on stage), I found the book very interesting. Despite all the odds and many blunders, Dave Liniger changes the face of Real Estate forever with the birth of RE/MAX. To be honest, I probably would have never read this book if RE/MAX was not Ron's broker, but I enjoyed many of the quotes contained in the text.
Really honest book about failures and successes in the industry. I could have done without some of the personal background details about Dave and Gail Liniger.
