Patricia Garfield has a long history of thoughtful books on various aspects of dreaming. In this book, you have an excellent introduction to common dream symbols and a series of questions leading you to possible interpretations. Hopefully through this process, you will get an 'Aha' moment, and the pieces of the puzzle will come together.
Trying to analyse my most recent dream by the fascinating chart this author offers (in "How to Unlock Any Dream Image"), I am struck by the fact that my dream was not really all that visual in nature, more of a sense or feeling. I think attaining the information from the appendices is worth getting ahold of this book.
It has a list of all the different negative universal dreams... I wasn't totally sure what the point of that was since it didn't include some of the wonkiest dreams I have had in the past. MAYBE it was to develop a plan to guard against them? It wasn't described here, but I have heard not to eat heavy meals past like seven or eight o'clock at night to guard against anxiety.
Unfortunately, the other books the author has written are not available at my library. MAYBE LATER.
