Another old younger me favorite (seriously, I must have read this over a hundred times!) that I still enjoy!

This book is actually quite intense with a major flood and a girl going missing with that part reaching thriller levels of intense, but the author really knows how to make things dire without going overboard for her MG readers which I’m sure is a super hard thing to balance and I applaud her for pulling it off so well.

Freedom having supernatural senses adds an extra layer of different to an otherwise basic concept and I like the character growth for her, Jani, and Hailey. There’s also a great message about forgiveness and letting past hurts go that I really appreciated.

A delightful reread I would happily dive into a hundred more times, lol!

‼️Content‼️

Violence: a car hydroplanes off a road into a flooding river; a character is caught in a flooded river and swept away; blood (not detailed)

Other: a horse has supernatural senses; a horse used to be a ghost; a girl goes missing; intense flooding

You are never too old to enjoy a great story.
This book is listed for any age reader 9 years and older. It catches and keeps your attention from start to end. There is suspense, danger, several misconceptions, a little bit of the paranormal and love. The story kept my attention until the end.

I listened to the audible version which was narrated by Aven Shore. She did a wonderful job of making the voices sound like the various characters. I won’t repeat the synopsis, but reading it made me wonder.

What kind of accident would cause Avery to be missing?
And what illness could she have that makes finding her time-sensitive?
Then there is the foal, Freedom, who seems to know so much and tries to lead Jani to Avery.
Listen to this entertaining story and get all the answers and more. You don’t want to miss this one.

I took a star away due to the inconsistency of Sunny. First it's a mare, then it's a gelding. Which one is it?

I like how the series is just barely supernatural. Having one out of place thing makes it all the more real to the world! The girls having to be careful about sounding crazy to everyone else was an interesting problem to overcome.

I really like her writing. She doesn't repeat the same words over and over. Her descriptions are spot on, the story is exciting. Just so wonderful!

This was a neat way for Hailey to overcome her fear. And the development of the story and characters was amazing. It wasn't what I was expecting based on book 1 (not in a bad way) but I'm really happy we got to see a bit more of Freedom's past.

Wonderful!

Again another wonderful story about two friends who help solve the mystery of a missing girl who is sick and will need her medicine to survive. Our friend Freedom has returned in the form of a newborn filly who seems to be very bright and she seems to know her girl Jani. The story moves on and Freedom seems to know where the small girl is even if the adults don't want to believe. It's what the two friends know and believe that fuels the adventure.

Young adult but fun

Young adult but so nice to read something that's fun and easy to read. Kept me interested and wanting more. Read the series and will read the rest when they come out. Takes me back to my childhood.
