Your Money God’s Way, by Amy Streater, is an incredible book that causes you to take an honest look at your finances; and then really gets to the heart of the matter – your heart. That’s right! For most people that are in debt, suffering financially, and living month-to-month, there is a greater issue than just not having enough money (because most people do have enough money). The issue is this: what is the condition of your heart that would lead you to the place where you are careless, selfish, and lazy with the money God has given you? God does not desire for us to live this way.

This book knocked my socks off, and sense into my head! I was extremely challenged by the different areas that Streater zeroes in on; and I found myself sincerely praying the closing prayers (at the end of each chapter), and then practicing what I read! Each chapter presents “counterfeit convictions” that keep us making poor financial decisions, and then presents “timeless truths”, from the Bible, that should be the foundation to obtaining victory and freedom in our finances; and all these principles are presented from the lives and circumstances of individuals created by the author. This is a simple, yet powerful book that I would recommend to anyone that desires to grow and mature in their finances!

Amie Streater became Associate Pastor of Financial Stewardship of New Life Church after pulling herself out of her own financial mess. This book doesn’t advise about everyday money management like keeping a budget or writing everything you spend in a notebook though she does deal with it in the last chapter. It describes the pitfalls good Christians can get into with what she calls “Counterfeit convictions.” People come to her when their ships have sunk. She quotes the Bible to show people where they have gone wrong and recommends a mind change.

She goes into detail about covering debt for family members or others who won’t help themselves. The other side of that attitude is thinking the world owes you a living and attributing it to God. “God told me to stay home with my children, no matter that I ran up tons of bills for college. Now my husband will work two jobs to support me.” She says if God tells you something He wants you to do, you need to plan in advance to make it happen.

She gives a strong warning about believing swindlers because they go to church or might even stand in the pulpit--some have TV programs. Or maybe the deceiver carries a business card with a fish on it.

She talks about many instances of getting into trouble because of the ease of using plastic and ignoring the signs of trouble like Scarlet O’Hara, “I’ll think about it tomorrow.“

Not all is lost though. She believes that everyone in a bad financial situation can pray and work his or her way out of it, but he or she must take steps to do so. Amie gives entertaining examples of how others came out the other side.

The author occasionally writes like a drill sergeant with charm but anyone who feels that family or personal finance is crumbling around him or her should read this book.

Your Money God's Way takes Biblical principles and puts them in easy to understand language. If you're wondering why you're always living paycheck to paycheck and can't get things to work out, try reading this book. It won't solve your problems, but if you're willing to think and pray and change how you handle money, this is a good place to start.

While it took me longer to read this book that a noon-fiction book, this was a great read. So much to think about and ponder. Thanks to this book, we are looking at our budget differently. We are trying even harder to get the financial side of life in order and debt paid off. The author takes different beliefs that people have and compares them to the truth of God's Word. How does it hold up? Is it a valid belief or is it a problem? If it's a problem, how do you fix it? After you wrestle with your beliefs and decide which can stay and which need to change, she presents a practical way to create a budget. Not a written in stone budget, but a budget that adjusts for life so you don't go back to where you were.

I recommend this book to everyone trying to figure out how to make their finances glorify God, or even just those trying to get it together. It's only about $10, so buying the book won't break the bank!

This book is FANTASTIC. I've read a lot of money books, and I tend to like them, but this one is different. For one, it's the first that I've read to use a word that I feel is so crucial to living responsibly: STEWARDSHIP.
In addition, Amie shares her no-nonsense advice to managing money while sharing biblical stories that help to explain the importance of being responsible stewards to the money and resources God has given us. She's a refreshing author, humorous, and as I said before, no-nonsense. I loved this book and look forward to using it for reference many times over. FIVE STARS!

This was a convicting book. It was written by a woman who is the pastor of financial stewardship at New Life Church in Coloraado Springs. She explains "posh poverty" which is an extravagant lifestyle based on credit card abuse. She tells a mom who wants to stay at home with her child that she needs to go to work to pay off her student loan debt. She gives advice to spiritual "cliff hangers" who go so far out on a limb in their financial life that only God can save them. She explains that is not theologically correct because you are not using your commmon sense. The main idea of the book is God is the author of peace, and He wants us to have peace in our financial lives. She writes with advice similar to Dave Ramsey but with a more theological bent. I recommend this title.

I liked this book, and I believe it serves the purpose the author intended. It almost makes me want to enter a similar ministry, but in my own area where most families live in poverty -- they'd mostly be starting with no money, no job, no nothing. Amie, do you have any wisdom to share for those kinds of situations?
