An unintended pregnancy with an IUD and herbs and it threatens her life is enough to DNF the series for me. There should have been a tag in the very first book that the series would have an unintended pregnancy.

The hits and plot twists keep on coming in this third book of Pepper’s story! It starts fast with Pepper reeling from her mates’ betrayal, languishing in a cell for a crime she did not commit. She questions if they are even worthy of her forgiveness or if she should cut her losses and let them go. With all the danger being drawn to her, maybe it is safer not to have mates at all.

I loved the angst as she grappled with the pull to be with her mates. Since it is a multi-POV story, I saw how her men suffered, bemoaned their mistakes, and learned to lean on each other and get along while Pepper was absent. Nikko and Jasper’s relationship took the biggest hit from the betrayal, and it hurt to see their pain.

The book continues on the dark path set in Pretentious. Pepper now knows the face of her stalker, but that doesn’t keep her safe from his manipulations. He wants her and will stop at nothing to have her. He has spun a web she cannot escape from, and it is closing in around her and her mates.

The spice has ramped up again, with more MM (new relationships developing within the group), some official claimings (finally!), and group scenes. While the spice has increased, the story remains plot-heavy, fitting the high-action pace.

This book ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger. If possible, these cliffhangers are only getting more extreme as the series progresses. I need book four, stat!

I hate that I enjoyed so much the first two books only to be surprised by an unwanted pregnancy. How is it that a character who spends loads of time telling us how much she only wants to be an aunt and never a mother doesn't even think about abortion ? I'm so frustrated. Pregnancy is not a filler trope. Please abort. Dnf obviously.

Why

DNF at 75% I just couldn't do it anymore. The smut part is delicious, but this series is just falling flat on so many things. The strong bad*ss FMC is not a bad*ss at all. We see more of the MMC's relationships progress with each other than with the FMC. I LOVE MM in my why choose books, but they all just want to bang the FMC. No groveling at all, no actual progression. I stuck it out through the first two cause I had such high hopes. Even though I had a few "icks" that usually make me dnf a book way earlier. (Using the word gypsy, referring to a group gathering as a powwow, calling a tent a teepee, the name of the immortal police squad, the constant reference to falling in love with older men as a teenager) Should have just stopped at the first book. Oh and now we are on book three and boom SURPRISE PREGNANCY that could kill her. 🙄

Meh

Being imprisoned by a mate and the other mates just watching. Forgiving them and mating them after without any grovelling is not my cup of tea. I needed more after the end of the last book. Plus having one of her mates taken, and they aren’t even Looking for him. Ugh. So many things I didn’t like about the book. I liked the plot tho. I will keep reading just for that.

Piper's series just keeps getting better and better. The last book left us on a serious cliffhanger and I wasn't quite sure how Pepper was going to handle another form of betrayal from another mate. She had already been through so much with the twins and was just beginning to heal. I honestly wasn't sure if there would be a setback with her or not. You see a lot of back and forth with her in what she needs to do in regards to her mates, but you can really see how much she has grown since the first book based on her ability to forgive or at least made decisions that aren't so risky when it involves her heart. 

Lincoln really outdoes herself with these books. There's so much backstory to everything and how it all connects together even when it doesn't seem like it does at first. Quite a bit of new revelations and surprises in this book that will throw you for a loop. Terror/Deimos is still on the prowl and despite him being the bad guy, it's incredible to see the amount of detail he puts into his plots and how he plays different people against one another to get the results that he wants. There is much more to him than just some random baddie. He's a villain with some depth to him and it really makes the story that much more worth reading. With Piper being a chaos witch she really needs a worthy adversary. 

I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with Piper and her mates next. Things are heating up and becoming more difficult, so I am hoping Piper gets a hold on her chaos magic and balances herself out enough to make Deimos wish he never forced himself into her life.

if i could scream “Elle Lincoln is the best author” from a mountain, 10/10 i would. but since I don’t live anywhere near mountains, the internet will do. seriously, i want to live in her brain. not a day goes by where i don’t recommend her books. it only took me so long to get through this book because i was on vacation, in the middle of buying and selling real estate and moving, going through a job change, taking care of a 10 month old.. i’ve been exhausted and the 10 minutes a day j had the energy to read, this book was the best part.

this book picks up right where the last one ended. Pepper betrayed, stuck in a catch-22. there’s so much she has to fight for, her mates, the coven, herself. and by the end of the book, holy man is she gonna have a fight!

I really enjoyed this book!! there’s even a trope in it that i usually hate, but didn’t here. i was excited. i love this story and how creative Elle is with the characters and greek mythology. i definitely recommend!

This another amazing novel by Elle Lincoln. I love Pepper's books so far and this one really takes the cake. It's full of all the fun and brassiness of the other books but this one is also loaded with fear,drama, comedy and definitely some surprises along the way. I can't wait for the next book. It's turning out to be a great series and I'm excited to see where it leads.

Ahh

Okay so were mid series so I don't want to give too much away but all I can say is these books are everything weve been waiting for. With each cousin/sister/etc story that gets written for this universe the plot gets deeper and the mysteries get juicier the individual stories are amazing and the lore THE LORE. A must read for sure.

Pompous by Elle Lincoln is the third in the Chaos Magic Series. We're still with Pepper and her mates. At the end of book two, there was a major plot twist. Pepper really is a strong, tough FMC to be able to heal and resolve her issues with her mates. She has had some personal growth that hopefully continues. This does end with a big cliff hanger. I am looking forward to book four!
