The Anti-Estrogenic Diet: How Estrogenic Foods and Chemicals Are Making You Fat and Sick

Rate this book
A nutrition and fitness expert shares an effective, no-fuss way to lose weight—and keep the pounds off—through a diet rich in anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs

Estrogenic chemicals—known for causing the near extinction of various living species—are found in some of the most common foods we eat. In this revolutionary diet book, Ori Hofmekler addresses the millions of overweight and obese individuals who have failed or are disappointed with other diets—those who suffer from yoyo dieting, weight gain rebounds, or accumulation of stubborn fat in the belly and other estrogen-sensitive areas. He shows you how

• Lower your risk of metabolic disorders, disease, and chronic weight gain

• Protect yourself against the estrogenic substances in the environment, products, water, and food

• Pick foods and herbs that can protect you

Focusing on our current over-exposure to estrogenic chemicals in the environment, foods, and water, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet provides a practical solution to fat gain, estrogen-related disorders (PMS, endometriosis, fibrocystic disease), and increased risk of common cancers in women and men (breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate).

Allowing you to still enjoy your favorite foods, the program is based on incorporating anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs into your diet, while eliminating estrogenic foods and chemicals. Exposing dietary myths and fallacies, Hofmekler teaches readers that some foods commonly regarded as “healthy” may actually be harmful and vice versa.

Special chapters dedicated to readers with different needs and health conditions, recipes, a question-and-answer section, and a list of scientific references are also included in this valuable resource.

Many things I already knew, but the way the author used them to be convincing about something that it's not so sure, made me doubt about the veracity of some of his other observations, so I have to say, it seemed to me I have wasted my time.

I didn't like the first one to two chapters. Later in the read, I see foods that are recommended to be anti estrogenic. There's also a three part diet to first clean liver, then high fiber diet, and then you can eat healthy foods and see what reacts to your body.

I may try it. Need to clean liver.

Overall, it was an okay read.

Very good work, providing understanding as to why so much estrogen in today's manufactured food is ruining our health.

not just for women! proof being this excerpt:

"Overloading estrogen increases belly size, inhibits human sperm production and suspected of causing breast cancer and increasing the risk of testicular cancer in men."

"Also, malformation of the genitals, estrogen chemical residues in mothers and thereby smaller penis size in their male children".

***Personal Note*** This alone should make this diet take off, at least among men!!!! It's research that questions a lot of conventional wisdom on diets. For example: he makes a strong case for soy being Satan.

I must say I have reservations about the book's premise. How can EVERYTHING about estrogen be bad? Sort of ticked off all the way through—-the obvious issue being, would this be more aptly titled, "the misogynistic diet"??

its very informative book. i have low testosterone and so i read it. it was recommended to me.
so many things in our diets are estrogenic. without addressing those one cant lose weight in the
long run. the book tells us about them. but some times it feels like i am reading a science paper.
overall its very informative. and resourceful. it has few recipes too.

the thing is what we get out of any book.
few things i learned from this book are

1. avoid packaged food. they contain highest amount of estrogenic chemicals.
2. eat organic as much as possible.
3. hunger is anti estrogenic and anti inflammatory
4. do exercise regularly.
5. the recipes in the end of this book.

i intend to reread this book in future too.

"I’ve been following a diet that breaks all conventional rules. I eat as much as I want. I eat only food that I like. I also enjoy overeating and snacking while relaxing in front of TV late at night. While most people around me are struggling not to gain weight, I find it difficult to keep my weight from dropping. I can’t even remember the last time I had to visit a doctor. This may seem too good to be true, but it isn’t. Here is why. The diet that I practice incorporates certain nutritional elements that are surprisingly missing in most other diets."
Couldn't say that better.

Reading this book at the same time as the author's other book, the Warrior Diet, and I have found that most of the information is shared. Read one or the other, you don't need to read book.

The book focuses on three stages, Liver Detox to High Fat to reintroduction. He includes recipes in the book, but lacks recipes for the first stage, which is the vaguest stage. Could have used more recipes.

This was a great book. I learned which foods and supplements to avoid to improve my new anti-estrogenic diet, as well as which foods and supplements I should be taking. I have also tried this company's whey protein shake and would highly recommend trying it. It tastes great mixed with almond milk, a banana, and a pinch of cinnamon.
