This is an entertaining, but somewhat irritating story about a young male mouse who professes his love for a young female mouse and describes the limits he would go to for her love.
The narrative is short and fun to read aloud, but I have to admit that I was disappointed with the characterization and the attitude of the female mouse. She seemed to be so weak and helpless and in need of someone to save her, while the male mouse could be bold and brave and adventurous.
The illustrations are colorful and cartoonish and complement the story nicely. But overall, I was disappointed in the story and I felt like perhaps something was lost in the translation to English.
