Lots of interesting recipes and ideas. Absolutely zero pictures which seems a little odd for a cookbook. Especially one with "Beautiful Cakes" in the title.

I love this book. Every cake I have made has been delicious. The summer lemon cake is a little dry, but I didn't make any adjustments for our climate (altitude and lack of humidity). The cakes take some effort but are well worth the time. Mr. Mesnier calls for some pricey ingredients, but I have substituted some of the really expensive ones and the outcome has tasted great.

I was expecting pictures and pictures of beautiful cakes, and mostly I got reminisces of beautiful cakes with several basic recipes.
