I really had a hard time finding a book related to Tanzania in my library. As I knew close to nothing about that country, apart from its location, I thought it was a good idea to try this non-fiction one.
I certainly learned a lot about Tanzania geography, its surrounding neighbors; its history, including its rather recent political evolutions; its culture; its numerous languages.

This is a short book in a area where there aren't many. It's editing and printing leave room for improvement and it spends long stretches describing different Regions and Districts and different ethnic groups (tribes). Even so it manages to provide a considerable amount of information particularly on the history and geography of the country.
