Leaders need encouragement too, and whobetter to send it than the leader of leaders!
Applauded as one of the world's most popular leadership experts, John Maxwell brings many of his winning concepts and scriptural meditations into a daily devotional/journal format, designed specifically for leaders. Each devotional is delivered with John’s trademark style of confidence and clarity, followed by space for writing personal reflection. Included are a host of relevant topics, including success, stewardship, teamwork, and mentoring—all topics that ring true to every leader’s heart.
John Calvin Maxwell is an American author, speaker, and pastor who has written many books, primarily focusing on leadership. Titles include The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader. Some of his books have been on the New York Times Best Seller List.
A great book combining advice of how to be a great leader and living a Christian life. There were many examples of both a good leader and a bad one I was able to identify with, having worked with both types. I also appreciated the author indicated a leader doesn't always mean the "head honcho," so to speaker; a leader can exist in other roles too. Overall, a great selection to reflect on what type of leader you are.
Have followed/read Maxwell for years. This was my first time through this collection of devotions. Nothing really New in this material (in fact, many references to previous works and that's a good thing). A little dose of John ( "I'm your friend") is a good way to start each day. I will revisit this work again. It's that good.
Rated: C I think John Maxwell is truly a wise author who understands leadership and offers good advice. This is the second book of his that I have read. Again, I am a little disappointed. Out of 365 days, I recorded only 15 worth remembering. That being said, I will probably read more of his works.
I read this book during my senior year of undergrad. The writer did this book much justice for the formatting. It is devotional in that the key points and advice that he gives take a full day to and more to digest and implement. This book truly builds the character.
A beautiful and inspiring read that blessed the days in 2020. I like how the questions were designed for us to really think about applying the lessons.
A Leader’s Heart by John Maxwell is a 365 day devotional journal designed to inspire the leader to grow in all avenues of leadership. This journal is designed to connect the reader to God, provide daily encouragement that inspires growth, and help keep the reader focused upon leadership while following God’s guidance in the Bible. John Maxwell teaches the reader that while respecting God’s position as our ultimate leader, those of us who are in leadership positions will grow in the Lord and help others to grow too.
I have found this book to be an incredible wealth of information. Having held leadership positions for years, I wish I would have had this book 30 years ago. Each page is a fresh experience in the presence of God and His divine direction for leaders. I am inspired to chart out a ‘growth map’ for myself and those whom I lead as a result of the information contained in this book. Looking back over the years as I read through the pages of this book, I can see so many places where I was in error, so many places where I was right on, and so many places where growth was necessary. I have always believed in inspiring my subordinates to be the best they can be, but sometimes lacked the proper tools to properly inspire others. This book offers those tools, and is a complete and well rounded volume of life lessons for leaders. I encourage anyone who is in a leadership position, or aspiring to hold a leadership position to obtain a copy of this book. This book is to be read daily, and I suggest it accompany your Bible as a daily “first read” along with prayer.

At first glance, A Leader's Heart 365 Devotional Journal by John Maxwell appears to be a book that belongs in a library of vintage books, as the book itself is quite lovely to look at and hold in your hands. After reading through this devotional however, the book deserves a place on your desk, or nightstand, or wherever you may read and meditate on what you read.
For anyone having a leadership role in life, this book dispenses 365 days of thought provoking words of wisdom that are intricately tied into that day's particular choice of Biblical scripture located at the top of each page. Each day's devotion is written so that it can be read quickly, and with the space at the bottom of the page, designed to be used as a journal to think on what was written and how it can, or does apply to the reader's life.
Classified as a gift book, whether you would purchase this as a gift for a leader you know, or for yourself, this is a book that should not just sit on a shelf, but needs to be read and written in. This is a book that will be enjoyed, one day at a time.
Please note that Thomas Nelson Publishing has provided me a complimentary copy of this book for my review; however, the opinions are my own. I have not been required to publish a positive review.
"Beautifully bound yearly devotion with leadership insights crafted into every devotion.”
Looking for the perfect gift for your husband, your father, your boss or brother as a birthday, anniversary, Christmas or special occasion? John C. Maxwell’s’ A Leader’s Heart: 365 Day Devotional is an exceptional choice.
Each devotion is written to the leader in all men and encourages and promotes reflection on a wide range of topics specific to leadership.
This devotional is hardbound with a classic, elegant style. Each devotion ends with a question prompting an answer and provides space to journal responses and/or thoughts. If used for a full year, I can see this being a perfect heirloom. I can see how a family member would love to read the answers and notes their father, husband or brother entered throughout the year.
Known for his excellent books on leadership, John Maxwell's Devotional 'A Leader's Heart' would make a perfect gift. Presentation page makes it personal and unique. I recommend it highly.

Leaders are men and women of vision and dreams with skills, inner drive, motivation and commitment to make their visions or dream a reality. However, these trailblazer types need a leader as much as those who follow them. John Maxwell’s scripture-based devotional journal, A Leader’s Heart is designed to guide those with such skills to God, the “Ultimate Leader.”
He begins with Isaiah 42:16, a scripture that promises God’s guidance and Proverbs 2:6, 8-9 with verses that describe God’s blessings, such as wisdom and God’s protection for leaders who seek Him. In the introduction John briefly describes struggles of leadership, from blazing new paths, to the loneliness and mantle of dependency leaders acquire. All of which creates the need for higher authority, someone leaders themselves can depend on, which is God—“The Ultimate Leader.”
That’s what makes this yearlong devotional journal unique, it’s designed for leaders with a devotional style and wide range of leadership topics. Each month begins with a succinct quote, such as the one for February. “Effective, godly leadership means giving what you have so that God may be gloried in all you do.” …Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/cznjchu
