Roman govori o tragičnom vremenu, obuhvata period od 1995. godine do 1999. Kapor piše bez takozvane istorijske distance, ali on, zapravo, i ne govori o ratu, već o sudbini Ivane, koja u životu ide iz poraza u poraz. Ali, na kraju, ipak, pobeđuje "neminovnost produženja vrste". Šta sve može da se dogodi jednoj mladoj ženi odrasloj u gradu, kada u ratnom vihoru izgubi rodni grad, krov nad glavom, porodicu i udoban život uspešnog arhitekte i bude prinuđena da utočište pronađe u zabitom srbijanskom selu Šljivovu u trošnoj zapuštenoj kući na imanju svojih predaka, tema je romana "Ivana". U ovoj uzbudljivoj pripovesti o ženi-borcu i njenoj borbi da se održi u surovoj sredini, prepliću se zavere, sujete i strasti sa predanjima, proročanstvima i ljubavlju. Da bi preživela, Ivana obnavlja pečenje šljivovice - prepečenice po kojoj je nekada bio čuven njen deda, tako da je sem glavne akterke, drugi glavni junak ovo srpsko tradicionalno nacionalno piće i svi načini na koje se peče.
U Ivani srećemo jednog potpuno novog neočekivanog Momu Kapora koji otkriva zaboravljeni svet srpskog sela, manastire, pijace i raskaljane drumove, preko noći obogaćene varoške malinare, proroke i seljake koji noći provode pokraj kazana u kojima se peče rakija, a pre svega jedan sasvim novi ženski lik u savremenoj srpskoj književnosti - Ivanu.
Momčilo "Momo" Kapor was a Serbian novelist, painter, and short story writer. Several successful films have been based upon his novels. Born in Sarajevo in 1937. He graduated the painting in 1961 at the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts under Professor Nedeljko Gvozdenovic. He has published many titles, novels and collections of stories. He has a large number of documentary films and television shows, all according to his screenplays, as well as several feature films (Almonds Beyond Death, Banquet (film), Walter Defends Sarajevo, Jolly DJ, End the Weekend). Una and The Book of Complaints were adapted as such. They have been translated into French, German, Polish, Czech, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Slovenian and Swedish.
Dobrica Cosic, in his book "Friends," on pages 276 and 277 describes the childhood and youth of Momo Kapor, based on the talks he had with him in November 2002. "On the 13 of April 1941, The Germans bombed Sarajevo and hit the building below Trebenica in which the Kapor's mother had hid with her 4-year old son. In the collapsed house, everybody was dead. Moma's mother saved her son with her own body. The boy somehow pulled out from the rubble, moaned and fell into scilence from the speechless horror of not knowing where to be. He was found by a Russian, an emigrant, a doctor, who took pity on him and took him to his apartment, adopting him, as he had no children. He nurtured him, loved him, filled him with toys to forget his mother and drove him around Sarajevo in a white Mercedes. The boy knew that his name was Momcilo, but not his surname. The good Russian gave him a good name, Momcilo Hercegovac. After a year of life with the good man, Momcilo Hercegovac fell ill with scarlet fever, so his savior took him to the Sarajevo hospital. There he was found by his maternal aunt for she had been looking for him the previous year all round Sarajevo, being informed by someone earlier on that there was "a child that got out of the destroyed house, where a man took him with him." When the boy recuperated from scarlet fever, his grandmother took him to her house and took care of him. Momcilo Hercegovac was cared for by the Russian as well, who joined vlasovcima-collaborators of the Germans, often visiting him with gifts. His father was, upon returning from captivity and being a banking expert, set up in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Belgrade. However, his patriotic conscience and responsibilities led to the passage of a whole year after the war before he came to Sarajevo to see his son. He treated his son in a strict patriarchal manner and was dissatisfied that his son dedicated himself to painting and literature, a life of social and material uncertainty "
He died in Belgrade on the 3. of March 2010. at the Military Medical Academy.
Ако би ме неко некада упитао да му објасним било који део српске традиције, ја бих му једноставно рекла да прочита (ово) дело Моме Капора. Ако би ме неко некада упитао да га за мала паре одвезем до Србије, ја бих му купила ову књигу. Ако би ме неко некада упитао где припадам, ја бих му отворила ову књигу.
Ивана је свака наша бака, ивана је из нашег села, ивана је из наше Србије. Ивана је наш отац, ивана је и наш деда, Ивана смо и ми сами у неку руку.
Поред Драгослава Михаиловића, Момо Капор је једини мајстор/аутор 21. века који својим пером пише за Србију, о Србији, о народу и за народ.
ivani bi bolje stajalo da je film, a ne roman. mislim da bi tako ostavila jači utisak, a tako bih možda čak i mogla da progledam kaporu kroz prste za greške nastale prilikom građenja likova (lažem, toliko daleko ipak ne bih išla)
Ideja je bila da pročitam nešto kratko, a što sam želela godinama, da izađem iz višemesečne čitalačke krize. Tako mi i treba kad sam narcis, ova knjiga je na samom početku baš loša.
"Seti se njihovih večernjih izlazaka. Bili su dovoljni sami sebi. Jedan poznanik joj je priznao da se svih tih godina čudio gledajući ih često kako sede sami za stolom u nekom klubu ili restoranu ne prestajući ni časa da razgovaraju. Toliko su se razlikovali od bračnih parova koji ćuteći sede u kafani i gledaju druge nemajući više šta da kažu jedno drugome. "O čemu toliko razgovarate?" pitao je taj čovek. Nije znala da mu odgovori. Zaista, nije znala. Kao da je razgovarala sa samom sobom."
Knjiga o gubitku, ratu, srpskoj tradiciji, ljubavi...
Premda je priča neki naš domaći kliše, nije toliko bitna koliko je matrica za poruke koje se kriju između redova. Ovu priču nisam shvatio kao priču o Ivani već o nama.
prava ocena 3.5 U koliko zelite da dozivite sta znaci biti srbin ova knjiga je potpuna preporuka . Nikada do sada nisam citala o Srbiji i njenom narodu gde su predstavljeni bas ovako . knjiga je zanimljiva za citanje , narocito onima koji vole rakiju .
totalno čudno i neočekivano, svidela mi se perspektiva o ratu želela sam da završi sa onim groznim likom koji poseduje pola Šljivova, ali sam svesna da nije održivo, kakav obrt kada je zatrudnela sa njim priča o jednoj jakoj ženi
